@BillyB Saturn games actually run great on Switch. There are a few ports of shooters available. People have discovered that the emulator for those games is plug and play. Hackers have been getting all kinds of Saturn games running on the Switch (a notoriously difficult system to emulate.) The ports that have been made are kinda pricey though. (Fortunately enough, they usually have the word 'Saturn' in the title so they are easy to find.)
@solidox It's funny how people yell at Nintendo for not releasing more of it's back catalog. And then Sega gets yelled out for releasing it's back catalog WAY too often.
@Silly_G Yeah. I'm playing Shantae now on Switch. It's one of the few Gameboy games you can play on it currently. These games look really good on the Switch. I don't have a definitive list but the other Gameboy/Gameboy Advance games I know of are Castlevania and Contra, part of the collection series'. There is only one DS game that I know of part of the MegaMan ZX collection I believe. If I am missing any, it's only a couple. They are few and far between.
@Rainz It probably makes the most sense to start with Risky's Revenge. For a Metroidvania, Shantae is filled with characters that progress the story. These characters reoccur in other games. It's also the cheapest game, other than original Shantae. But you get a lot more gameplay than Original. If you don't like Risky's Revenge, you are not gonna like any other game in the series. And Risky's Revenge is the template used in the rest of the series. You can play the games out of order though. It's not really an issue. BUT to see if you even will like the Shantae, before you buy every single game, dip your toes in with Risky's Revenge.
@Coalescence It's the better game (besides the annoying cannon puzzle), but that's not the question. What is the best place to start? Since Shantae does have a story and recurring characters it would make more sense to start with Risky's Revenge.
@NotoriousWhiz That was way more fascinating then I thought it was going to be. I had to read it a few times to find out what was happening. Very cool.
There is another glaring problem with this collection, specifically on Switch. There is not a TATE mode. Some of these games were made originally for a vertical monitor. BIG missed opportunity.
@Snatcher I was actually surprised how much I listened to just the soundtrack collection available on Mario 3D All Stars. YouTube Music, (this is different from YouTube), allows an artist/publisher to set up their own "page" of music and control it fully. This is probably why Square Enix only released their music there, because you have so much control over it. Nintendo, advertising adverse as they are, could do that too.
@Alckemy For some reason, I am AMAZING on this track. Even on Double Dash, I would win this track all the time. Never had a problem doing good on this track. I think it's because I lean into the chaos. Also, is this the ONLY Mario Kart track with more than 3 laps? They should add a feature where you can add a few more laps to some of the other tacks. Just as an online option at least.
I make this argument all the time, but there are no good SEGA CD games. (I owned the thing when it came out, so I know!). The FMV stuff is all crap, most of the games are actually cartridge ports with (arguably) better music. There are only four interesting games: Snatcher, Sonic CD, Lunar 1 & 2. Of these, Sonic CD holds up best and will be released very soon on Switch. As Snatcher and Lunar they actually have better Sega Saturn versions with a big caveat though: they are only available in Japanese. The PSX has the more accessible English versions.
@Screen I get it. But Square Enix literally put up over 1,000 music files up on their YouTube music page this year, so people could access their library of songs. Nintendo doesn't offer any legal way to listen to their game music via streaming. This is what actual leads to piracy.
I knew this game was coming to PS5. Another "impossible" port to the Switch. I was crossing my fingers that this wasn't going to be a cloud version. QUbyte delivers the goods again.
@carlos82 The first couple Special Stages are okay. But Tails moved about 2 seconds behind Sonic. So he starts running into every obstacle on the harder stages.
Forgotten Worlds. They really did forget about it. Otherwise, Dragon's Dogma would be the best bet for modern 3D game. I am still curious how a first-person Forgotten World's arena game might work.
@Tyranexx I should warn you that the game is incredible difficult and that even getting to see the third level is an achievement. However, once you do reach the third level, at some point about the middle, the game will freeze and crash. It doesn't matter what you do. It will just crash. Most people probably don't know about this "unbeatable game" because it is so HARD to even get to third level. Oddly enough, from what I have played, the third level is actually easier than the first two levels. I wish more people knew about this "unbeatable" game because then they might actually fix it. I am surprised that this hasn't turned into some Twitch meme yet. An unbeatable game and nobody knows about it?? I feel like I am alone on an island.
@Tyranexx I might be the only advocate of the game, but play High Noon Revolver on the Switch (different from PC). The game is literally unbeatable. You cannot get past the third level. I have contacted the developer and Nintendo and they will not issue a patch. It is the only game that cannot be beaten.
@samuelvictor From what I understand, it's not even the MJ estate that's the problem. Their are two living musicians who worked on the tracks with Michael for Sonic 3. And I don't believe they ever got compensation in the first place or credit. And that has really been the hold up.
This is a MUCH better deal than buying AEOS gems directly! That's the part people are missing. You only really need the gems if you want extra costumes for your Pokemon. (You can actually still get costumes without it though too.) Anyways, to break it down you get 40 gems a day which is 1,200 hundred for the month. Right now it costs $19.99 to get get 1.200 gems, so $9.99 is half the price, plus it comes with other perks. This really is games as service if you want games with continuous updates. Mario Kart and Smash Bros. seem like the obvious choices to get the service treatment in the future.
@samuelvictor Yeah, I think the licensing rights to music, actors likeness, and voices needs to changed in the law. This is a big problem in pinball games and keeps many tables from seeing digital releases. I liked your insight though, and you might have even more ideas about this. As far as Sonic goes, there is a #4 possibility. The game had all new music for Sonic 3, but you can get the original soundtrack...as paid DLC. That's a strong possibility too.
@mariomaster96 I heard that same thing about Tropical Freeze. I haven't played it yet though. I also remember the complaints about Super Mario U Deluxe that I stayed away from it. That game is VERY fun, if not truly innovative. However, I would say that the most innovative 2D platform game is still a Mario game: Super Mario Maker 2 is something truly innovative and original in this space. Much more than Tropical Freeze even. I'm surprised Mario Maker didn't sell much better though.
OMG I laughed so hard at this! Those "ugly" Animal Crossing portraits had me rolling. I didn't know this was even a thing, but yeah, those are some scruffy looking characters. But hey, you need them too. There should be more weird ones I think.
@kal_el_07241 I just got into Pokemon Unite. Great game. And it really is free. Despite what some YouTubers were claiming that it was a pay to win game.
@luscher Have you seen the Nintendo e-Shop?? The list of games is 7,000. I'm sure you will find games to play if you are willing to explore outside of AAA games that you are "suppose" to buy. One of my most played games I only paid $0.10 cents for. I'm enjoying Pokemone United and that's completely free. (I fell for "it's a play to win" going on with YouTubers, it is not.) I strongly suggest you explore out of your comfort zone. Publisher Digital Devolver is a good place to start.
@Ryu_Niiyama Nintendo has a slew of Mario Sports games AND just released Switch Sports. They also have two EXCLUSIVE battle royale games Tetris 99 and Pac-Man 99. And Splatoon 3 is about to be released, so that covers the shooter category. You can even add Pokemon Unite in there even though it's also ok mobile, as covering the MOBA category, but it's business model is one like Fortnite. (I am surprised by Microsoft, is that from Windows Games too?)
@PhhhCough It look like the Gulikit controller works with Windows, Android, and Switch. The 8bit Do controller additional works with Apple/iOS (which was important to me). The 8bit Do controller is not as premium in the hand as the Nintendo Pro Controller, so I would get that if you only need Switch. The 8 Bit Do Pro's weakness is that it can't wake the Switch up from sleep. It's strengths are a better start/select buttons, D-Pad front and center for retro games, and customizable software layouts with 4 profiles. (Oh and this always confused people, the 8 Bit Do controller can make any button rapid fire EXCEPT while using it on Switch, so for other systems, this works on the fly.). There is no perfect controller so I tried to list things that might suit your needs more or less.
@ShadowofTwilight22 Mario Kart 8, Splatton, Mario Maker, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Captain Toad, Mario 3D World, and Smash Bros.4 were piddling titles? Hell, they still haven't made a better Mario Kart.
@ShadowofTwilight22 I don't know. If you are including Sega than you have to add the Saturn to this list. Sega had to put in a second chip set because the console wasn't designed for 3D gaming. The XBox 360 was also a terrible console. Failure rate for the hardware was estimated to be around 20%. It was by FAR the worst console hardware ever made. If you are only talking about sales numbers, then the Sega Master System would have to be included.
I just started getting into Pokemon Unite. (The first Pokemon game I have actually ever played!) It doesn't seem like you have to spend any real money 💰💰💰 in the game. Am I wrong? Is there something I should be buying in the game??
@Chocobo_Shepherd Yeah, I thought the game was great. Other than the point-and-click picture hunt parts. Those were WAY harder then they needed to be. In fact, they should have just been made super easy.
@Ravenmaster This critisism has been blown out the water already. The story elements actually are taken mostly from Metroid Fusion. @Franklin Sega has made a vague official announcement about remastering 4 or 5 old games for the Switch. Crazy Taxi is rumored to be among these.

@Dark_Isatari I'm of the exact same might set as you. Pirates Curse is the better game BUT Risky's Revenge is where to start.
