@Mr-Fuggles777 this is the only comment. Came in here to almost post the same thing.
Good job fighting this trivial nonsense. Now where are the games? 5 years after consolidating development teams and cutting 2 concurrent systems down to one hybrid. This, while also outsourcing crucial titles to 2nd parties i.e. Metroid Prime 4 who also cannot deliver.
Game Pass is the only reason I've played Octopath. Always saw it on switch but never could bring myself to make the purchase. Now I enjoy it on the big screen on the series X.
"Nintendo operates in its own bubble within the gaming industry and is currently riding high and selling ridiculous numbers of systems. There's little incentive for the company to change its approach, at least at this stage."
And this is why Nintendo has never and will continue to never enjoy sustained success. For every Wii they will have a Wii U.
At this rate the game will never live up to any expectations. I also wouldn't doubt it releases closer to the end of whatever replaces the current switch.
@nhSnork switch online service is trash tier. Just because you and 8 other people on here like it, it is universally panned and for good reason.
Seriously just look across the aisle at what Microsoft is doing. They aren't even in the same stratosphere. Game pass is everything Nintendo should be doing, with their history in the industry and back log.
Speaking of Nintendo, does anyone honestly believe they are even capable of producing a new unique IP at this point? What even was their last one? Splatoon?
@JuiceMan_V i disagree. Games like Doom Eternal do not showcase what the switch is all about. People aren't going out buying switches in droves to play games like doom eternal on it. They just aren't. Go look at the sales numbers for AAA 3rd party ports on switch. Now look at how those games sell on playstation and xbox.
Switch is what every nintendo console before it has been, a nintendo 1st party game machine. People are playing Mario, Zelda and animal crossing on it (and fortnite but that game is an anomaly and i think is being played on refrigerators and toasters too).
Plus, playing doom eternal or doom 2016 at anything less than 60fps is a cardinal sin.
He is correct. What people need to realize is that the entire reason the switch is as popular as it is, aside from breath of the wild, is due to the portable nature of it.
Nintendo themselves saw this which is why we have the switch lite as well.
good grief that launch line up was bad. Switch's success is literally breath of the wild. Then riding the wave of fortnite and uptick with animal crossing.
What do they even have planned for the successor? Is a Wii U part 2 on the horizon? Could be.
Better hope Metroid Prime 4 releases by the end of the switch 2's lifetime. Silver lining is it will probably still debut before doom eternal gets ported.
@SwitchForce gotta get outside of your Nintendo fan bubble more often. The switch, often revered and praised, is just as often paired with another main console for folks that tend to game most to every day. Gamers.
Huh? What iphone ever went 3+ years without a successor?
"and the circular nature of the video game hardware arena means there's the risk that the Kyoto-based veteran could fumble its next machine, just as it did with the Wii U"
Oh they will. It's important to remember that during the height of the Wii success, Iwata was quoted in an interview that they couldn't afford to rest on their laurels of the success of the Wii. Several months later, they rolled out their second biggest failure behind the Virtual Boy.
What some Nintendo fans don't seem to realize is that all the gimmicky hardware innovations is exactly why they are a niche market. This started with N64 in some way and that 3 pronged nightmare. GCN obviously slipped up because of the mini-DVD approach. Wii was a big hit but was a secondary console for gamers. Wii U's gamepad ran people off in droves. Switch again, secondary console for many gamers.
@charlieonholiday you'll learn. All the "new experiences" that port console is introducing you to have existed for months to years elsewhere, and for cheaper.
This is amazing; I'm literally witnessing Nintendo making the same mistakes they did during the Wii's pinnacle years of success. News report after news report of record breaking achievements with an under powered yet mass-appeal console, all while they rest on their laurels (i.e. no Switch Pro).
In a few years we'll all be witnessing Wii U part 2.
@Gravitron confusing you lately? How about the last few console generations.
Switch, much like Wii, is filled with empty purchasers. Consoles just gathering dust like in the late 2000s. They'll muck it up next gen, just like they did with Wii U.
"One game in the Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection that's got some extra attention so far is Super Mario Galaxy.
Right now, it's mostly because everyone wants to know how motion controls in this game work on the Nintendo Switch across docked, tabletop and handheld play."
No. Right now, it's mostly because everyone wants to know why galaxy 2 was omitted from this compilation. Classic Nintendo.
Lolol switch can't even handle a locked 1080p wii game. Good grief just release the switch "pro" already. Knowing Nintendo it'll be a continuation of the switch lite and be entirely portable, just capable of 1080.

Nintendo is a joke anymore.

Re: Doom Eternal Gets Even More Eternal With Massive 2021 Updates
@HotGoomba___Rebrand well said. Playing Doom Eternal on a switch is akin to being in hell anyways.
Re: Review: DOOM Eternal - This 'Impossible' Port Is Nothing Short Of A Miracle
@RustedHero i think the 8/10 final score is them sending pizza rolls to Panic Button.
Hell of an effort, but this version is what it is once you remove the nintendo glasses of bias.

Re: Interview: "There Would Be No Control On Switch Without The Cloud," Says Remedy
@Rayquaza2510 "if you have a gaming PC or any other non Nintendo console you should get the game on those instead."
This is good advice in general. You can always bet the Nintendo version of a given game is the most compromised and issue prone.
Re: What's Up With The Frame Rate In The Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity Demo?
Oh lest we forget how erratic the frame rate was in breath of the wild.
I dunno, maybe the switch is woefully underpowered and should have had a successor by now, given its mobile roots.

Re: Poll: One Year Later, How Are You Getting On With Ring Fit Adventure?
@rjejr poll results actually don't make much sense to me.
37% of 103 votes bought the game at or near launch, leading that poll.... but 36% of 97 votes leading that poll claim they don't own the game?

The switch and its eshop is just as trash as the wii and the wii shop was. 14 years and nothing learned.

So many salty nintendo fanbois in here it's sad.
