I have to say I'm actually surprised that when I visit other gaming sites, there seems to be a lot less Nintendo bashing. I don't need everyone to love Nintendo but it sure is nice when everyone can get along lol.
@aaronsullivan I know, the new Zelda was very exciting partially because I was worried they were going to go more realistic, but after seeing that art style, I somehow know I'll love the game.
Well I already purchased three of them... so no physical for me. Like others have mentioned, hopefully Nintendo offers some kind of promotion. Own 4 get the 5th free or something along those lines.
The only way I see the figurines unlocking characters is if it's as an alternate way to unlock them. Sort of like shortcut dlc, only with figurines.
Anyway, it's one guy saying something and being translated to say they're using NFC on Wii U. I think people need to just wait till there's an official announcement before saying Nintendo is or isn't making a mistake.
These games are between $10 - 20 on Amazon. Actually, Fusion is $25. And those are used prices plus shipping. Really these prices are not bad. I'm looking forward to finally playing the original Advance Wars. Never got around to playing it before.
I'd really like it if VC games had a notepad option on the bottom screen so I can pause the game and take notes, considering a lot of old games actually needed you to write things down.
@Bolt_Strike Well if you look at it like that, what does any game do that is actually new? Lol. Tropical freeze is a really well done platformer. I agree there are too many 2D platformers now but of all of them DKCTF is about the only one that actually does really interesting things and is legitimately challenging.
Also, I agree. I've always wanted to see the story after fusion since it was a huge game changer story wise.
@Bolt_Strike I'm sorry... did you just call Donkey Kong Country a boring, predictable 2D platformer? I agree I would love a new Metroid game on either Wii U or 3DS but DKCTF is an incredible game.
Anyway, I would love to see a 3D Metroid on Wii U (first or third person) and a 2.5D on 3DS.
I'm glad to see people are starting to post positive things about this game. I decided to give it a go and, while it's not the greatest game in the world, it's solid and I'm enjoying it as much as I enjoy a New Super Mario Bros. game (this is essentially the Yoshi version of that). It's a shame that people will be turned off by this having an overly harsh score. I could even understand a 6 but 5 is awfully low.
Also, I'm amazed that not one review I've read has mentioned the gyroscopic aiming. It actually works surprisingly well. I like it a lot more than the wait for the cursor method. And I'm not usually a fan of gyro controls.
Anyway, if you think you might enjoy it, give it a shot. It's really a solid game.
I love the Super Mario Series collection on the top shelf. That's what I'm currently working on so I feel inspired seeing what it could eventually look like.
I look forward to whatever the are making. They have yet to let me down. I would love a new Metroid but Retro has done a great job reviving Metroid and Donkey Kong so I would love to see what they could do with some other long neglected Nintendo Franchise.
Tropical Freeze has some seriously amazing music. I'm only on world 3 and I've been blown away by how good the songs are. Definitely the best soundtrack I've heard on a new game in a long time.
That's funny he didn't realize how big of an impact the news of him doing the soundtrack would have because that's a huge selling point. When I tell people about the game, that's the thing that really peaks their interest.
This is kind of like when you stop drinking coke and drink Gatorade instead. People start telling you how Gatorade has too much sugar and you shouldn't drink it. lol. It's better than nothing people. If you don't wanna use it, that's okay. No need to insult people and say they're stupid just because they find a use for it.
Absolutely a lot of it is the media. Even when the press report something good about Nintendo, it's mired with negative comments and jokes about how the system has no games or is inferior. And to show it's not just fanboyism, it's the same with the Vita. People just love to put it down. I've been saying it all last year, people say the Wii U sucks and has no games because the media tells them that, not because it's true.
I really am enjoying this game much more than I thought I would. It's extremely satisfying when you find the solution to the stage and watch the blocks move to the goals. This is definitely my favorite of the Two Tribes games (The discount ones that is. Nothing beats Toki Tori 2)
"Feel free to speculate wildly in the comments below." Well if you insist... I hope this update finally brings the much anticipated dish washing update. Can't wait for my Wii U to do my dishes for Mii!
My biggest concern with the GamePad is that people cry foul if there is no off-screen play which greatly limits the amount of innovation you can have in a game. ZombiU would never have worked with off-screen play and it was a pretty unique experience because of it. It's a nice feature and not every game should push every feature of the GamePad, but I would much rather have some new play ideas than the ability to not play on a TV. Oh and I love the GamePad.
@AcesHigh Great comment. I agree it just seems like the hate has been flying around even though people don't know much about it. I have purchased 16 games for Wii U in it's first year and i continue to see people claiming Wii U has no games. The internet tells people to not be sheep and hate Nintendo so they do lol. In all of it I find it extremely encouraging that Nintendo continues to do it's thing and while they are making changes, they're not getting caught up in the negativity.
@DarkwingLz @MJKOP I'm not sure if it's different in EU or something has changed, but I have a couple 3DS XLs registered on my Club Nintendo account. I would give it a try if you have it anyway.
Huzzah! Wow I can't believe I've had it for a whole year already. I have purchased 15 retail games, 9 eShop games and 22 VC games. And there are still games I want to get. I really think people think the Wii U has no games because the internet tells them to.
...Looking at that list makes me realize I play games way too much haha.
That's funny because everywhere else I read that the Wii U version was the best of the consoles. lol. I did notice framerate issues but all the versions had that. And a few framerate hiccups are nothing compared to losing your whole save file, which is what many 360 owners had to deal with.
@DestinyMan I feel exactly the same. I may get a PS4 when Kingdom Hearts 3 comes out but that is a couple years away so I'll let future me deal with it lol.
@thomaswhitehead Just wanted to commend you for not playing fan with this article. Stating how Uncharted is to a Sony fan what Zelda is to a Nintendo fan is a very balanced way to look at things that most people ignore. That's one of the main reasons I like this site so much. Thank you!
@ToniK I do hope you're referring to the Lord of the Rings movies only. The books are amazing.
It is nice to see so many people not going crazy for Nolan's "Batman" movies. I though I was the only one. haha.
More on topic, this review seems a little bit harsh. I thought the story of eight assassins was at least better than "Let's put all bad guys in a big city and shoot rockets at them." The game did have a lot of glitches though.
The biggest problem I see has been people's instant dismissal of the Wii brand. The way the internet and retailers are buzzing about the PS4 and XBox One is crazy compared to the Wii U. GameStop didn't even have midnight openings for the Wii U. I think Nintendo definitely needs to work on marketing but a lot of people made up their minds about Wii U simply because it's Nintendo and "that's for kids and casuals" or whatever. I don't really think there's one thing. I'm just waiting for when PS4 and XB1 come out and people realize it's not the huge jump in gaming they think it is.
"You've never seen Mario like this! Pick up a Super Bell to transform into a cat. Scamper up walls to find secrets, pounce from above, and attack enemies with your claws—while looking pawsitively adorable."
@unrandomsam Dunno if you played the original, but if you didn't the problem was that the whole game let you choose whether you wanted to be action or stealth and lethal or non-lethal. Then the boss fights would come up and be completely action based. So anyone playing stealth and non lethal would be stuck in a fire fight with no helpful upgrades and possibly no guns. Now you can play the fights however you want, like the rest of the game.

I thought the same thing. Nintendo Team Fortress. The concept seems pretty fun. Hope it delivers!
Re: Feature: Our Top 10 Wii U eShop Games - Summer 2014
I'm sure it's been said but Toki Tori 2 at least deserves a spot. It's still the best eShop game I've played on the Wii U.
