Though naysayers have reprimanded Nintendo over its lack of a successful marketing campaign for Wii U, the company's brand new site for Super Mario 3D World shows no sign of the lackluster advertising claimed by many media outlets.
The new website's handsome display features individual pages showcasing the game's story, gameplay, characters, and power-pps. It also provides viewers with the latest 3D World video previews, including the epic, six-minute-long Gameplay Super Trailer, as it's called by the site.
Super Mario 3D World is Nintendo's flagship release this holiday season. Thought of as a successor to the popular 3DS title, Super Mario 3D Land, 3D World's developers at EAD Tokyo have stated that their intent was to combine the accessibility of 2D Mario titles like the New Super Mario Bros. games with the thrilling exploration of more difficult 3D fare, like Super Mario Galaxy.
In addition to staking its claim as the first 3D Mario game to feature 4-player co-op play, 3D World adds the innovations of clear pipes and a new cat suit power-up to the Mario universe, making it a smorgasbord of everything the Mario series has ever offered up to now.
Will you be rushing out to buy Super Mario 3D World upon its release November 22nd? Let us know in the comments!

I can not wait to get this game
The site looks great! Can't wait for Christmas!
Also, hate to point it out, but 'power-ups' was misspelled as 'power-pps' in the article.
I don't care about marketing only Games. (In fact in your face advertising has the opposite effect on me - My view is the same as the Panasonic CEO you only need marketing if you have a bad product).
The site is delicious, I seriously can't wait for Christmas.
That website is completely awesome!
ASDFGHJKL: COLORS
I really hope this game sells like crazy all across the world. It looks gorgeous and so much fun.
Can't wait to play this game! I'll have a tough time deciding on how much time I want to put towards this or A Link Between Worlds though.
After watching this, I seriously don't see how online would have worked in this game...
It looks nice but, why are they using 3D Land music for the website (I don't hate 3D Land's music)? That ticks me off.... Use some NEW music from the game to play on the website.
i must own this game
This game is going to be awesome. Can't wait!
"Buy Meow!" omg, Nintendo! hahah. Great website, Nintendo websites are the best in terms of design.
Looks great. Go go nintendo! No more slacking !
That site is delish! I love it.
"Buy Meow!"
So cute. <3
It was a nice enough site that I posted it to my Facebook Timeline from the little FB share button.
Now Nintendo NEEDS to get a demo on the kiosks and a big colorful display on the kiosk as well for all the holiday shoppers to see. That stale blue and white kiosk is a real depressing downer, it's like they're advertising for Obamacare. And I never ever see anybody playing on it. Probably b/c they haven't added a new demo since I don't know when. They don't even have the W101 demo on the kiosks, and that game's sales could have really used the help.
I'm ok if this demo doesn't come to home consoles, Wii U owners either will or won't get this but they probably all know it exists, but it really does need to be in the stores.
Too bad this game is better if played SOLO.
I would know because its Luigi time!
Wow this looks like so much fun.... Only another two weeks to go.
I'm going to play the snot out of this... Heck I still play the galaxy games to this day.
I never noticed the Ghost Mii feature before, nice.
Cool website. Its still self promotion and not paid advertising.
yes, a site is a form of marketing but still not advertising. people will not accidentally type supermario3dworld.nintendo.blah.blah into their browsers. they need to see adverts in public forums and spaces. EVERYWHERE... ALL THE TIME. is that so confusing?
@Ren you nailed it, man. i agree 100%. if ppl dont know about wii u, they arent going to just type it into google. same idea here with this website.
Every set of adverts during any channel has 3-4 separate XBOX One adverts (its sickening how many and how often). The last time I saw a Nintendo advert was when they were advertising Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for 3DS (never mentioning a Wii U version exsisted). The site looks great but I don't think it'll increase awareness much more, it's just reaching the same crowd.
"You've never seen Mario like this! Pick up a Super Bell to transform into a cat. Scamper up walls to find secrets, pounce from above, and attack enemies with your claws—while looking pawsitively adorable."
I just love a good pun.
"no-goodniks"??
I am already saving up for this!
Nice site, but still advertisment good only for fans or at least those who know already about the game's existence, so we are far from say "problem solved" >.>;
Then again it's definitely working on that side of the market, after all the news and try the game at an event my interest in buying it passed from "Maybe one day" to "It will fit perfectly under the christmas' tree".
There is definitely potential in all this marketing, now they just need to bring it also to the casual market
@SockoMario Yeah that bugs me too...why not use the new overworld theme? The Japanese website uses the new overworld...it's going to bug me forever, seriously.
I'm calling it now - this is the best game for the entire next gen.
May purchase a Wii U to play this, if it's up there with Galaxy it'll be essential
Miaow
the graphic on the site seems to indicate that additional players will use the wiimote...surely not? Didn't they update the Super Mario U and Luigi U to use the gamepad...why not this?
@grimey73
Wait what? You can only use one gamepad per console, what else were you expecting?
This game looks amazing. I hope it sells a few Wii Us! This is the only thing I want for xmas but I don't think I can wait a month to play it
@unrandomsam I've never applied that reasoning to a gaming system , it's intriguing . As an audio and videophile the products that interest me the most have ZERO advertising . Oppo , bang and olufsen , onkyo , klipsch and a few more represent the top of the line for audio and video . Heck you can't even go to bestbuy to get some of these .
In view of the aforementioned putting Nintendo in league with these companies makes sense .I'm just not sure it will continue to work for a video game company .
This game is going to be awesome ! Nintendo top tier awesome!
I am a day one buyer of this game. One of my most anticipated WiiU games of the year!
Power-pps?? Don't you mean Power-ups
Silly Nintendo life
@grimey73
I guess you mean the Wii U Pro Controller. That is supported, as is the Wiimote alone, Wiimote + nunchuck and classic controller.
@sinalefa
Precisely what i meant, thank you.
Good news on the pro controller. Thanks.
Until this game was announced, Pikmin 3 was the system-seller to me. Now I'll be playing both Pikmin 3 AND Super Mario 3D World at Christmas! Yay for a fantastic Nintendo Christmas!
This is the ONLY game I will put down Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for this year. Every other game has had to grab a number and jumped in line on my shelf. But this game... yes. I will be calling a 2 week Monster Hunter moratorium on Nov 22nd.
