Based on these review and the amount of cooperation needed to successfully play Super Mario 3D World, I don't see how online would work too well. @sinalefa Seriously. My friend thinks it's hilarious to constantly throw people to their deaths in NSMB. I can only imagine how annoying that would be with random people.
This made me realize that very few games can bring people together and at the same time have them yelling at each other the way Nintendo games do. lol. Good times.
@GamerJunkie it's surprising to me because this isn't a 16GB PC game. It's half the size of the original game. I think most people figured they were reusing a lot of assets from the first game so it would only be a 100-200mb. It's one of the biggest files on the eShop, excluding retail downloads.
But this isn't the year of Peach... For being the year of Luigi, Luigi sure was pretty absent from this year's E3. @Stark_Nebula Lucky. I wasn't able to make those. So you're saying it didn't just feel like Super Mario 3D Land HD?
This article mentions Metroid Prime 2 but I have to say, if you played a demo of Metroid Prime 2, I'm sure you wouldn't think it was that different than the original. You really can't judge a game like this off of a couple of beginning levels.
Honestly, I think the only problem with this game is: a) It doesn't have the same "Wow" factor of the original because that was the return of a beloved franchise, this is a sequel. b) People over-hyped and over speculated what the new Retro game would be.
@WaveBoy Just out of curiosity, how many times did you play Wind Waker? I didn't hate it the first time but I did grow tired of the sailing and thought the games was pretty good, not great. I ended up feeling a little disappointed.
But then I played it again a couple years ago and it quickly jumped up to one of my favorite Zeldas ever. The art is awesome (as you mentioned), graphically it's one of the best looking games of its generation, and surprisingly I even ended up enjoying the sailing.
Anyway, I see where you're coming from and I thought I'd throw that out there. I'm just excited to play any Zelda in HD. lol.
This article makes me hope even more that this is just here to fill the 3D Mario fix while they work on the successor to Galaxy. On a more positive note, I'm sure this will be fun. Looking forward to finally playing as Toad again for the first time in nearly 20 years!
Nintendo is in a tough situation. People complain that Nintendo needs to get better 3rd party support and 3rd party publishers don't want to go up against Nintendo's AAA. So Nintendo takes a step back, only makes a couple games and lets 3rd party have the spotlight and they just make mediocre ports and everyone complains there aren't enough Nintendo games. It's a vicious cycle.
The 3DS started off slow because they were trying to get more 3rd party support and it picked up when Nintendo started cranking out games. Seems that's what's going to happen to Wii U as well.
@krunchykhaos @theadrock13 First off, I respect both of your opinions and this is in no way meant as an argument. Personally, Twilight Princess is my least favorite, with Wind Waker and Skyward Sword among my top Zelda games (under Ocarina and Link to the Past, of course). My point being that even though I personally don't like TP it doesn't mean it's a bad game because some people say it's the best. It's all opinion and I'm just glad I get to play lots of Zelda this year and maybe next too!
Also, Wind Waker was Ocarina's conclusion so I'm not sure how it wasn't relevant to Ocarina...
@MadAussieBloke haha I can see it now. After a long day of work and a long drive in traffic come home and relax by playing "Yardwork." Rated M for Mature.
The thing with Sony's 40 games is that they're PS3, PS4 and PSVita which means some of those games are the same game for each systems. Also, I think the whole "Wii U has no games" thing is more of a thing people just say now because truthfully I've been playing it since launch and I am still enjoying it. And I don't own Monster Hunter. lol.
Apparently he thinks PS4 will be $350 and XBox One will be $400. That seems completely unrealistic to me given the specs of those consoles but you can see why he thinks the Wii U needs a price cut.
This game is great. I prefer it over the original Mega Man games. It's definitely easier than the previous (which is part of the reason I like it lol) but I definitely wouldn't say this game is too easy. It's still much more challenging then most current-gen games.
@sinalefa I would recommend you get it if you have the funds. Personally, the first one was okay for me but I never beat it. Toki Tori 2 trumps the original in so many ways. I couldn't put it down till I completed every single thing in the game. Best game on the eShop for me at the moment.
"If you take the disc to a friend's system, you can play it when logged into your account — user accounts are in the cloud, rather than tied to hardware — but the game can only be played when logged into that account." Do you have a source for that? All I've read is that it's not confirmed whether it's tied to an account or system.
@Chuckie-Doll I agree. I stopped buying used games when I realized that GameStop/GAME all pocket the profits and the people who actually worked on it don't get any of that support.
Also that's why you rarely ever see little gaming stores anymore. In my area (L.A.) all you see are GameStops. Everything else has gone out of business so it's not good for the economy either.
Sweet! Oddly enough I've played the PSP remake of this to death but I never played the SNES version. I am looking very forward to finally playing the original.
@Rafie Nintendo's press conference always used to take place on Tuesday so this is really just replacing that. And yes it will be great to see the games we've all been waiting for. Here's hoping Smash Bros and Mario will be available to play at Best Buy too!
@Fingeldor wrote: "Is ultra-violence the only thing capturing the minds of the Western audience anymore?" I know, right? Guess that's what the masses want but to me that doesn't make it mature. That's honestly one reason I enjoy Nintendo so much. They make it work without the need for excessive violence. And that makes it only for children I guess. lol
@Sun Well Ocarina of Time 3D was not a lazy port and it was a good alternative to the original. And there are still those that prefer the original. This review is on the side that RE: Revelations 3DS is better than the Wii U version and cheaper so it would score slightly lower.
Just looking at the videos this game looked and moved like a 3DS game. Which to me is not a good thing. I'm actually surprised the score is that high.
@TysonOfTime Agreed. The only review this should be compared to is the original so we can see which is recommended. In this case the original, which can probably be found for $20 now.
In general it's pointless to say "Game A got this score why didn't Game B get this score?" as you really shouldn't and can't compare games. Especially Retro vs New (or in this case Remake).
I hope this fixes Netflix. Since the update, almost every time I try to boot it it just goes to a black screen and I have to physically unplug the system to restart. Otherwise it's been pretty good.
I feel like people are taking it as the whole game was going to be included but they decided to wait and make people pay for it. He just said it started as an small game but they had so many ideas that they made it a full game. I'm not sure if I'd play it a lot but I do like the way it uses the GamePad for some very unique experiences so I'll probably get it.
@edcomics It doesn't make sense but I never minded Wario. But just the concept of Waluigi just infuriates me too. lol.
One of my favorite things of this game has always been the isolation. Not one thing is told to you. You're all on your own exploring a dangerous place. I would really like it if games started revisiting that sense exploration and figuring out everything for yourself. Great review. Am definitely enjoying playing through this again.
I imagine PC will still be the definitive version of those games but I want to support Ubisoft's support of Nintendo so I will get the Wii U versions. Other than Assassin's Creed (I love the games but sadly 4 just looks like more of the same) all of those games look great. And I do think those games could help move Wii Us because, as others have noted, not everyone can buy every console they want. And if they can have a console with Mario and Zelda AND some popular third party games they might be more prone to get a Wii U.
"It's working! It's working!" Man I love this game. Still have the cart too. I used to love to use the debug cheat and put the max speed at 2000 lol. I miss when games had cool cheats. I really miss the 64 era of gaming.
"Y can't Metroid crawl?" haha that's great. @Jayden My thoughts exactly. I wish more modern games would stop holding our hands but the majority wouldn't like that. I do think this is exactly what Miiverse was made for though.
This game is by far my favorite on the Wii U eShop at the moment. And I really didn't expect to like it that much. I was among those posting pictures and helping others out in the first couple weeks and I was wary of the update making things simpler. It was a lot of fun and really showed how great Miiverse can be. I would like to see more devs make games difficult like this so people who want help can go to Miiverse and those that don't can be challenged. Thanks Two Tribes!
Awesome! Looking forward to this. My friend and I will occasionally start singing songs from the original, with the obligatory "uh-hug" thrown in for good measure. lol. Good ol' nostalgia.

Re: Review: New Super Luigi U (Wii U)
Also, for beginners you can play as Nabbit in the single player mode by holding down ZL (B on the Wiimote) when selecting a level.
Re: Review: New Super Luigi U (Wii U)
@Fudgewhizzle I agree. This DLC pretty much has as much content as the handheld games, albeit with shorter levels but still, a fair price.
Oh and yes, the secret exits are very hidden lol.
