Re: Epic Games: Developers Can Use Unreal Engine 4 For Wii U Titles

sr388survivor

@AceSpadeS
Personally, what bothers me is the way he derisively laughs at the notion of the Wii U running UE4, saying it's only for "next-gen" consoles, then goes back and says it can absolutely run it and compares it to the 360. I think it's the fact that a lot of these "important" people have been acting like kids having a flame war on some forum, except that a lot of people actually care what these guys say. It's really just the way these things have been said that gets to a lot of people on here, I think.
As for me, I'm tired of this subject. Off to play Lego City. lol

Re: Digital Foundry - Need For Speed: Most Wanted U Delivers as Definitive Console Version

sr388survivor

Agree with a lot of the people on here. I'm extremely impressed with the game. I'm glad I waited for the Wii U version. It's definitely the prettiest game I've played on the Wii U and really shows that it's completely up to the challenge if third party devs are willing to give it a chance. I really encourage anyone who's interested in this game and can afford it: Don't wait for sales. Get it and support Criterion. They deserve it.

Re: Talking Point: The Pros and Cons of a Wii U Price War

sr388survivor

I don't understand why people say the Wii U is expensive. It's pretty standard pricing for a new console. I'll be annoyed if the PS4 price is revealed and people say how reasonable it is at $500. lol
On the other hand a price cut wouldn't be horrible because then maybe Nintendo would do a Wii U ambassador program and I'd be all for that

Re: Review: Nano Assault EX (3DS eShop)

@anyone who's played both: How is this game without the CCP? I really enjoy the Wii U version but I'm not sure how well it would work without a right stick... I enjoyed Super Stardust on PS3, but found the PSP version lacking.

Re: Hardware Classics: Nintendo DS Lite

sr388survivor

I recently played Pokemon White 2 on my 3DS with a friend who was playing on a white DSLite... Man I miss that machine. I was actually jealous of him lol. It's definitely my favorite handheld, with the GBA SP at a close second.
I hope the next 3DS design is closer to the awesomeness of the DSLite.

Re: Nintendo - "Innovation is Important" for the 2D Mario Series

sr388survivor

I'm surprised no one's brought up Donkey Kong Country Returns. That game completely surprised me with it's graphics and innovation and genuine difficulty. I will admit there were many moments in that game I would say to myself I wish NSMB was more like this.
But I still love the NSBM series and I really think people need to just relax and let Nintendo make it's money with it's more casual games so it can make it's great legendary games. If you don't like it, don't play it and let people who do like it enjoy it. We are just talking about video games, after all...

Edit: Also, @gsnap, Well said.

Re: Nintendo - "Innovation is Important" for the 2D Mario Series

sr388survivor

The thing is Activision releases at least one, if not multiple CoD titles per year. We've had 4 NSMB titles in 8 years. I agree the games definitely play it safe but most sequels on most systems do. To me I enjoy the series because it's fun to play and it pretty much funds Nintendo's less "safe" endeavors.
And Challenge Mode is infuriatingly fun. lol

Re: BIT.TRIP Presents: RUNNER 2 Should Be Available Before The End of February

sr388survivor

This was going to be one of my launch day titles till it got pushed back. There has been $15 credit just in my Wii U eshop account just looking at me for far too long. Looking forward to getting this the moment it comes out.

@Urbanhispanic I would recommend it if you like simple old school games, graphics and cool bit tunes. You can get the entire Bit Trip series for Wii on Amazon for under $12 and it comes with a pretty awesome soundtrack CD.

Re: Masahiro Sakurai: Stories in Video Games Can be "Irksome"

sr388survivor

Thank you. I agree that at times cut scenes, especially slow ones ruin the pace of a game and you end up tapping the A button repeatedly trying to skip it but story can still be important.
And when a character you've put grown with dies, that's usually a pretty bold move in story telling and works even better in video games since you've put effort into it. Yeah maybe it sucks that they died through no fault of your own but I'm pretty sure most people we know in real that have died die through no fault of our own. It's real life and it's that feeling of loss that makes people upset. And that's kind of he point.
Not all games need story but not all games don't need a story. Saying one is better than another is pointless because, like all entertainment, there's variety and there should be.
I love the Mario games but sometimes I want to play an epic tale with a crazy story that pulls me in. And sometimes I don't lol.

Re: Ninterview: Australian Retro Gamer

sr388survivor

Actually, it's funny that more kids tend to play "mature" games where as adults often prefer playing Nintendo games. A mature rating doesn't mean it's for mature people and can often mean a very immature game.

Not that there's anything wrong with immature games. I absolutely loved Bulletstorm and I think that may have been written by a 12 year old. lol. It's just ironic.

Re: Talking Point: The Emergence of Download-Only Retail Games

sr388survivor

Does anyone else feel like when you have a lot of digital games it becomes over whelming and you end up not knowing what to play? Kind of like how you have thousands of songs on your iPod and end up constantly skipping songs you like?
I'm a huge fan of digital games but I've been steering away from them because of this phenomenon. Just curious if it affects anyone else lol

Re: Round Table: Let's Talk About The Wii U eShop

sr388survivor

Just a word of caution to anyone transfering vc titles to the Wii U; The vc games will be stretched to the wrong aspect ratio and the only fix is to change the resolution of the Wii U to 480 and 4:3, which is very cumbersome. Some people don't mind or notice it but some of us can't stand playing games in the wrong aspect ratio...

Re: Nintendo Is Sorry For Wii U Load Times, Is Working On A Fix

sr388survivor

I don't think the load times are horrible but they are a bit longer than i'd like. Especially when it comes to the settings app and wii mode (actually i'd prefer wii mode and vc integration into the Wii U menu over speed).
it is nice to see nintendo address that it does take a while though instead of just saying gamers need to be more patient or nintendo delivers a higher quality of content so we have to deal with load times. lol.

Re: Talking Point: The Wii U eShop Needs Patience

sr388survivor

I like these articles basically telling us to simmer down and stop being such demanding crybabys. Seriously if you've played everything available to us on the wii u then you either did it because its your job or you haven't been in civilization for the last few weeks.
This generation of gamers is far too impatient

Re: Feature: Our Staff's Thoughts on Wii U - Part Two

sr388survivor

"If you criticise FPS elements of ZombiU, then I think you should also say that CoD is lousy survival horror — apples and oranges."

Thank you, Mr. Whitehead. I find the critical reception very frustrating as well. I love the fact that having ammo in the double digits make you feel like you're swimming in ammo because it's so rare.

Anyway, glad to hear such positive things about the Wii U. I was getting tired of the trolling on other sites. It really is a great console. And I highly doubt that the competing consoles of the new generation will not have their own bugs at launch because every console will have bugs at launch, especially with so many new features.

Re: Hardware Review: Wii U

sr388survivor

@DarkNinja9
You can move things around the menu to organize it the way you want. Just drag and drop like you do on the 3DS. But no unfortunately there are no folders.

Re: Hardware Review: Wii U

sr388survivor

I've had the console since US launch and I've enjoyed it quite a lot. According to the daily log i've played over 50 hours (admittedly half of that was Netflix lol) and i have not experienced one crash or freeze or anything of the sort. It's a really great system and a lot of fun.

My only two issues are the long load times of the UI, waiting about 10-20 seconds just to open up settings is a little too long and the Wii Mode is rather silly but I'm hoping they will eventually update both of those issues. And they are very minor issues that just require a little more patience. Which is ridiculous to ask gamers to be patient!
