Re: EA Developing Frostbite Engine For Mobile, But Not Wii U

sr388survivor

@MrWalkieTalkie Yeah that about sums it up. lol. That's really the only thing that bugs me here. It does seem like EA is systematically trying to undermine Nintendo but what do I know?
These are all companies that provide jobs and I really don't think some CEO making underhanded remarks or not liking the way Nintendo doesn't do everything we want should make us want thousands of people becoming unemployed.

Re: Warren Spector: "I've Personally Saved Hyrule Many, Many Times"

sr388survivor

@aaronsullivan I agree that Miyamoto's philosophy on gaming is my favorite as the game being fun is what's most important. I have no problem with long cutscenes if they're interesting or fun to watch.
What bugs me with the new Zeldas is that your companion tells you everything you're supposed to do and often reiterates what just happened in a cutscene as if you weren't there lol.
Ocarina to me has a great balance of story vs. gameplay.
Oh, and I can't even count how many times I've saved Hyrule.

Re: Video: Mega Man Unlimited - The Fan Game That Looks as Good as the Real Thing

sr388survivor

"At the time of writing, it looks unlikely that Capcom will be reeling out a new Mega Man game to celebrate the series' 25th Anniversary..."
Sorry if I'm being ignorant but how is that the case? It's barely May. There's plenty of time for a game to come out. Also I don't understand why people get so upset demanding a Mega Man game for the 25th Anniversary. If they give us an awesome game: cool, if they give us collectibles and stuff: cool.
Nintendo did nothing for Metroid 25th and nobody made a big fuss over it.

Re: Review: Super Mario World (Wii U eShop / Super Nintendo)

sr388survivor

@Moshugan Honestly I think Super Mario 64 looks great. It's my favorite Mario so it's just my opinion but I really wouldn't want it to look different. I think many 64 games stand the test of time unlike PsOne games that are just all pixels lol.

@AcesHigh <raises hand> I did that too haha. I also kept trying to flutter with Yoshi and I would hit ZR to try to spin in the air to make my jumps farther, which would bring up the VC Menu so I finally assigned the spin jump to ZR as well lol

I think NSMB (while still very fun) didn't capture the formula because SMW didn't have a set formula. This play through I really noticed how they really didn't follow any rules in it and there were plenty of levels that probably would be called too "experimental" for NSMB.

Re: Satoru Iwata: Nintendo Has No Plans To Adopt Cloud Gaming

sr388survivor

I notice how a lot of people and even "journalists" on other sites tend to take Nintendo's statements and blow them out of proportion (Like saying Nintendo won't be at E3). All he's saying here is that cloud technology is not fast or reliable enough to stream games. Watch this come to other sites as Nintendo hates the cloud lol

Re: Talking Point: The Importance of the Virtual Console

sr388survivor

I don't really think the cost is too high. It's true that certain games like Ice Climbers and Donkey Kong Jr. feel high but if they priced those down based on appeal they would end up pricing others with massive appeal higher. Games like Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario World, Link to the Past and soon Earthbound for $7.99 is insanely cheap. Those games are impossible to find under $20.00 and that'd be a great price.

Also we're talking about games that cost less than lunch.

Re: Nintendo Download: 26th April - Virtual Console (North America)

sr388survivor

@TheRealThanos
I wasn't thrashing any consoles I was just saying for me personally it's disappointing when there are still a lot of classic Nintendo games that have yet to be released on the VC. As I said I realize other people want the other consoles and obviously they wouldn't release those games if people didn't buy em.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Changing the Media Game at E3

sr388survivor

I don't understand what the big deal is? It's not like they're not gonna be at e3 with smash bros and a new Mario. They're just not doing a big conference which is pretty smart considering nothing is ever a surprise anymore. Last year the only surprise from any of the conferences was watch dogs. I think it's a smart move. With the Internet people want news much more often and Nintendo's doing that.

Re: Wii U Virtual Console Launch Lineup Is Revealed

sr388survivor

They said from the get go it was only gonna start with nes and snes, with gba and n64 coming later. Yeah it'd be nice to get more but I don't think people get that they're actually working on these games to make them run as closely to the original as possible, unlike any other emulator where you have to optimize it yourself.
Plus if they were putting all their resources into the vc then new Wii U games would take even longer to come out.
If this is the worse thing in your life, then you've got a pretty good life lol.

Re: Rumour: Wii U System Update Could Go Live Tomorrow

sr388survivor

@SunnyShores
Yeah I am very excited for the update. I thought it was funny how people have been complaining about how slow the Wii U is and then when Nintendo shows the update that dramatically improves the speed the reaction was "meh, that's it?" lol
@Yosher Trust me, I've spent hundreds of dollars on the Wii VC so I understand that point but I'm not going to transfer every game over to the Wii U and I'm not going to do it all at once. If I spend $50 over the lifespan of the Wii U to bring over 40 or 50 of my favorite VC titles it's really not that big of a deal to me. Sure I'd love it to be free but given the fact it's not just a simple transfer but a legitimate upgrade in functionality... there are enough other things for me to stress about in life lol.

Re: Rumour: Wii U System Update Could Go Live Tomorrow

sr388survivor

@Yosher said: "The only thing added to the VC titles this time around is the addition of save states (or rather -a- save state), and off-TV play."
You make it sound as though that's something that is incredibly simple to do and should be free. I imagine most of us don't know the whole process of programing games to work on the Wii U but honestly, complaining because you are given the choice to pay $1 if you would like to use these features seems like it's just impossible to please people anymore.
Also, in regard to Sony, I agree the cross play is nice but from what I understand, everything you have on the PS3 will not be transferable to the PS4. Even PSN purchases.

Re: Reggie: Pace Of Wii U Software Launches Is "Slower Than Hoped"

sr388survivor

@BossBattles
Thank you. At least some people still realize that this is just a hobby and should be fun. People just seem to want to talk about what they want and are never happy with what they have. Even when they get what they want all they can talk about is how it could have been better and what else they want. It's barely five months old people!
Personally, I've been enjoying my Wii U a lot and there are still games I have yet to play.
Reggie was dead on when he said gamers are never satisfied. lol.

Re: EarthBound Delay May Not Have Been Caused By Music Licensing Issues After All

sr388survivor

I'm pretty sure this was partially a publicity stunt to show how useful Miiverse is. Telling fans that Nintendo is listening if you post it on Miiverse. And it's a good way to do it I think.
Anyway, who cares why it took so long. It'll be here this year and that's great! This generation really needs to stop acting so entitled to everything. That's what's ruining the industry.

Re: First Impressions: Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D

sr388survivor

@Haywired
Personally I welcome multiple difficulties. I wish more Nintendo games would do that. That way they can make games accessible to casuals and still make it challenging to people who have been gaming for a long time.
Imagine a Zelda game that had a classic mode where your companion actually didn't tell you what to do lol

Re: Review: Toki Tori 2 (Wii U eShop)

sr388survivor

@hcfwesker hey I recognize you. Thanks for your help!

After completing the game, I must say this review is much too harsh and will scare people away. This game has the perfect difficulty. It was tough but never unfairly unbeatable. There were some side puzzles that took some real thinking and one or two that I went to Miiverse to, but they were side puzzles. Not necesary to finish the game. Granted this title is not for everyone but it is a really exceptional game. It's only flaw is that eventually it must be over. 9.5/10 for me. Best game on eShop.

P.S. I only got this game to support indie developers on the eShop. I wasn't a huge fan of the original so I did not expect to like it. I'm extremely glad I got it.

Re: Talking Point: Playing it Safe in Big-Budget Console Games is Stifling Creativity

sr388survivor

It's funny you mention Final Fantasy in there. I think that franchise actually does try to experiment with new ideas in each of the core 13 titles and often people are unhappy because it isn't FFVII. lol. Gamers want something that's even better than what they played before without it being at all different lol.
It is a very difficult time for devs. Also, anyone else feel the gaming industry is becoming way too pretentious?

Re: Feature: Luigi's Diary - Extracts

sr388survivor

A thought occurs... Is Luigi British or did he write his diary in Italian and you translated it into British English?
Great, creative article. Nice to see some lighthearted, fun articles instead of all the doom and gloom we've been getting used to.
