Tales of the Abyss, port/remaster the PS2 version with voiced skits, please. That's the most obvious one of the ones that have come to the West, but Graces f and the Xillias deserve to come back as well. Then we need full localisations of every game before Symphonia that didn't leave Japan and a relocalisation of Eternia with a dub that's up to today's standards and includes skits. Then Destiny DC, Destiny 2, Rebirth. Bring them all. Properly remake Tales of the Tempest and localise as the Triverse Trilogy with Tempest R, Innocence R and Hearts R. The fans have been waiting for so long.
@Snatcher word of warning, dtoid gave it a 5/10 and said unless you're only in it for the moe it doesn't offer much. Check out some other reviews before you bite.
I gotta agree that it looks incredibly charming, but after watching some gameplay I can see past that.
@MARl0 that's some useful information right there. I hate when that happens. I'm also still baffled at how KeyWe runs and looks on PS5.
ô_o almost feels like they're emulating the Switch release xD
My girls wished for My Friend Peppa Pig for Christmas last year and played it only two or three times, because the load times were so unbearable and it felt super repetitive and low on content. I wonder whether this new game will be any different... but then again I suspect they will have outgrown the franchise by the time it arrives.
I really liked the general vibe of Harvestella and where the story was going in the demo. I'm still a bit torn because the time management in the dungeons felt extremely stressful to me and combat could feel a little less clunky, especially with the way inputs and specials are handled. The bossfight towards the end of the demo felt a bit like the tools I was given didn't really allow me to outskill him, rather than just accept the damage I was taking and rely on having brought enough healing items, which I found a bit irritating. If the rest of the game is the same I'm not sure I want to play it as badly as I thought I did after the announcement.
I'm in the "absolutely! (but not right away)" camp, because I'm already juggling finally finishing Pokémon Sword, Xenoblade 2 and a bit of GTAV and Rune Factory 5 on the side. Only so many hours in day D:
@Friendly good to know! Breaks my heart to hear it sold so badly though. I think I'll nab myself a Steam copy on top of things then to support the dev some more.
@KimBread wow, thanks for the info! Too bad we won't see a direct sequel anytime soon. I hope their next title will at least have a similar vibe. The ending of P:A left a lot of things open for a follow-up to tackle though. But man was this game cozy. I loved all the little details and secrets in it.
I absolutely NEED the Phoenotopia one. That was the absolute best game I played last year. I hope we'll hear something about the developer's next project soon...
@TheRealKyleHyde That's my suspicion, too. Link's Awakening didn't get a Dutch translation until the remake, Europe only ever had English, French and German.
Nah, probably not. Gimme a new Wario Land or bust. As much as I appreciate Ware's quirky nature, the Land series is where it's at for me and it has been woefully neglected. Bring it back, Nintendo, Cpt. Syrup and all. And get to work on a Daisy game while you're at it xD Now that I think about it, they should probably merge Wario Land and Wario Ware. Give him costumes, include a mini game mode.
The cowards can start by developing Daisy properly. I swear, the fan community is doing a lot of heavy lifting on that one while she sits neglected by Nintendo game after game Q_Q
@nintendolie I'm not saying you're entirely wrong, but HD rumble has been implemented quietly into quite a lot of games to interesting effect in my opinion, but it's never emphasised all too much since it's just an effect enhancing the game, not a selling point. The Blaster Master Zero games for instance have interesting HD rumble cues that tell you a lot about what's going on with your tank and feel pretty neat in my opinion. When picking up a coin in MK 8 Deluxe you could FEEL the coin sound in the controller.
That aside, nobody is trying to even compete with Dreams, they're just trying to give their consumers a cool toolkit to fiddle around with. Of course they're not "serious" about it, it's a toy. Hence the name ToyCon. If some kid gets to play around with it and build something cool and maybe even learn a few things along the way this has more fulfilled its purpose.
Say, Damian, how did you feel about using the headset with glasses? I think Alex said in the video that nobody with glasses seemed to have issues at the event, but then again he doesn't wear any, so I'd just like a bespectacled person's take on this^^
@EarthboundBenjy they handled it a bit weird: most of the voice actors from the original return for extra voicework, but for some reason they didn't even approach Troy Baker to voice Yuri's new lines and picked someone else instead - and not even the guy who usually stands in for Baker. Troy was quite baffled when he heard about it, he even mentioned on twitter that he would have loved to do Yuri again. If you search around you can find footage of some new scenes where the other guy voices him if you want to check it out.
That looks rather underwhelming, the world and characters look very bland. Also the way the rod/pole keeps clipping through things and flops around with the character's animation as if it weighed nothing is extremely irritating. If you put in an item like that, you should have animations at the ready to make the character transition naturally with it when arriving at the top. A little hop off the pole while holding onto it, then the rod shrinks back to wieldably size, then the guy moves it back into it's idle holding position. Problem solved. I know these games are made on a budget, but so much about this looks just carelessly cobbled together :/
I... I guess I would. That'd be a triple-dip, since I already own it on Steam and digitally on Switch, but damn, having a physical version of this amazing title would be perfect.
Maybe he really hates losing? Maybe years of that fat plumber dumping him into bottomless pits and lava have spurred him to prove everyone wrong and show them that he's worth something and admitting defeat in Tennis is the straw to break the Yoshi's back, that crushes his dreams? Yoshi is a character that delivers the feels, it's all happy happy joy joy, or utter sadness, it's like watching sad puppies. It needs to stay^^
@Peach64 I wouldn't worry about it. Nintendo have no way of monetising the SNES mini further than your initial purchase, which means it doesn't matter in the slightest what you do with it afterwards. I generally don't like denying them their revenue, which getting a Raspberry Pi and stuffing it with ROMs would imply, but buying their old games on systems where you can actually do that shows interest and appreciation, which I like doing. The SNES mini doesn't offer that possibility and comes with the added upside of feeling wonderfully authentic, lack of cartridges aside, so I'd just go for it. As a matter of fact, if this is true and hakchi works, I'll definitely add some more action and roleplaying adventure games onto it, since stuff like Chrono Trigger, Terranigma and Illusion of Time/Gaia is sorely missing.
@memoryman3 ô_o that's super weird. Maybe they're rendering the cutscenes live in engine this time around? Using video for cutscenes is pretty heavy on the bytes. Then again, why would they?
@Andyliini if only playing it on Wii U would up the resolution... it looks so much better in HD, and with recent comments on Nintendo potentially considering an HD version I think I'd rather wait...
@phreak09 yeah, that's what bothers me as well. I still need/want Minish Cap on Wii U and a couple of GB/C games on 3DS, but with Nintendo being unclear about their stance on digital ownership and stuff carrying over to Switch, I'd rather wait for another sale at some point in the future. ...I really do like Minish Cap though and it's not like my Wii U is going anywhere, so I might just pick it up in the end.
Huh. This has me wondering about performance on the Switch. Lego Worlds can be a pretty demanding game even on a strong PC, so seeing a Switch version actually surprises me. I'm curious to see how it fares though. Maybe they'll cut down world size or graphical fidelity?
@Dezzy I think it's just the current climate surrounding the Switch. It's the only completely new hardware this gen, from Nintendo nonetheless, and people are accordingly excited. Also, with most of these rumours coming by way of LPVG/Laura Kate Dale, her sources seem rather Nintendo focussed, so there's an abundance of Nintendo leaks to be expected. But don't forget she was also part of the group that kind of spearheaded the early reveal of the slimmer PS4 model by simply acquiring one before it was even announced.
@KirbyTheVampire my guess is that she'll just keep going no matter how much flak she gets... and her leaking game announcements is nothing new either if I remember correctly, I think she leaked Paper Mario Colour Splash back before E3, or at least certain details about it, amongst other things. As much as she says she loves Nintendo, the amount of ignorance she exhibits clearly states otherwise. Although I'm most definitely a Nintendo fan I'm by no means a fanboy and valid criticism is always welcome, but dang, that person is the pinnacle of negativity when she's not squeezing Nintendo or other game company employees for information. Problem is, by doing that she also makes herself a valuable asset for any gaming news site grasping for content to fall back on and I doubt we'll see any less of her in the near future.
@Ryu_Niiyama seriously, it's gotten so very annoying by this point. Why not just the leave the companies be and reveal their stuff when it suits them? As an advocate of healthy doses of hype at the right times these practices really don't do anything for me :/
@Exy I started out pretty interested in Dale's pieces and viewpoints when I first learned of her through Sterling and destructoid, but recently I've completely fallen out of appreciation for her. Her impertinent insistance on snooping around and aggressively spilling industry secrets in the name of "investigative games journalism" "because the people deserve to know them" and her offended defence reactions to being called out on it by said companies really start to piss me off. That and the more of her views and opinions I learn about, the lesser I agree with any of them. In my regard Nintendo has every right to keep whatever information they want under wraps until the time they see fit to reveal it. Insisting on doing what she's doing and making herself out to being in the right is just rude and annoying by this point. It's not like I don't appreciate the resulting news flow, but her attitude really riles me up... and I don't think we absolutely need to know all this at this point. All this leaking and rumour mongering takes of a lot of the magic of official (potentially surprising) reveals away and at least in my regard the fans and industry are worse off for it.
@Grandpa_Pixel Isn't it incredibly rare by this point? I like they idea that they are (or might be) going for a physical release, but as much as I'd like to get this, we also have to keep in mind that this supposed collection of ours might never really be complete since Risky's Revenge is kind of unlikely to see a retail release of its own at this point - unless it's in the shape of a Shantae collection, which I'd be absolutely down with.
Bummer. But really, with so much great stuff coming out in the second half of the year, Dragon Quest VI included, this doesn't hurt much. I'd say good on them.
I wish it was easier for Europe, with every country teaching English as a second language very early on so localisations wouldn't be as much of a problem, but good localisations can elevate great scripts to something else, so I don't mind folks having options once it arrives. I'm going to play it in English regardless, no matter my native tongue.
This sounds so dubious. It's one thing if Nintendo does that with its own old games and the stuff it acquired a license for, but how in the world is this legal when done by retro-bit? They're selling an ugly emulation console preloaded with games by other companies? This is wrong on so many levels...
That's the one still missing from my collection and I'd love to have one, but it's really difficult to get hold of an unblemished GB micro for a reasonable price these days.
all the European ones I've ever seen, including my own, a borrowed one from the video store, and the ones of my two kindergarten friends who owned one had all had red power lights.
...that being said, I DO recall having seen a green one online at one point. Maybe a casemod of some sort?
I'm in love with this design but having just gotten a Hyrule Edition N3DSXL I simply can't justify jumping on this, even more so with it being a solely Japanese outing. ...then again I recently rode the Tram while playing said Hyrule N3DS and a school child sat down opposite of me, looked my way and started going "woah!" for about a minute while trying to sneak a look at the design. So, yes, I'm feeling pretty good about that xD
@LetsGoRetro surprising even, since there's just been a remake, albeit for PS Vita (only Japan for now, though there's a campaign to have them release it in the west) and android/iOS. I instantly got it on android on my tablet, since I have a controller adapter and it's a pretty good recreation, very close to the original unlike Sword of Mana, which was less of a remake and more of a re-imagining.
If you're interested, it's called Adventures of Mana (since Seiken Densetsu/Mystic Quest/Final Fantasy Adventure was the first Mana game). I didn't think much of the art style at first, it looks a bit like the DS remakes of FF III and IV, but it's really grown on me and the artworks and newly arranged music are gorgeous.
@anders190 a Link's Awakening remake in the lush style of Minish Cap would be brilliant! Though I'd love to see them tackle a hand-drawn top-down iteration too. All these franchises move into the 3D space and I'd rather they'd not.
Link's Awakening is my favourite Game Boy game, next to Mystic Quest/Final Fantasy Adventure. I played both as a child and loved them and came back years later, retreading my steps, rediscovering how heartfelt they were. In retrospect Link's Awakening impresses me even more than it did back then.
@Skeletor I ran into that too, but maybe for different reasons than you did. My code arrived two hours later, by which time it was obsolete. I ordered another one and it came promptly, I suspect they were simply overrun and the servers couldn't keep up when I tried it the first time.
sigh I just hope this "radical departure" isn't the cloud based structure some folks are whispering about. I'd like my console to always be able to perform as best as it can without the need for fickle online services or relying on other idle systems to push whatever graphics it tries to conjure onto my screen. That just sounds unreliable and creepy. Don't even know where I picked that up but damn do I wish it to be a false rumour.
@ICHIkatakuri which is the correct way and how the map was intended from the start, with the different areas in the game corresponding with the locations of Ocarina of Time if I'm not mistaken. I'd say if they actually include both control schemes they won't include the mirrored world. Mirroring everything just so the player would waggle the same hand Link swings his sword with despite it really only registering as a button input was a pretty dumb idea the first time around and I'd say they have learned from that. But, I could be wrong.

Re: Takashi Tezuka Began Development On Zelda: Link's Awakening Without Nintendo's Permission
Re: Takashi Tezuka Began Development On Zelda: Link's Awakening Without Nintendo's Permission
Re: You Can Now Register for a Nintendo Account
@Skeletor
I ran into that too, but maybe for different reasons than you did. My code arrived two hours later, by which time it was obsolete. I ordered another one and it came promptly, I suspect they were simply overrun and the servers couldn't keep up when I tried it the first time.
Re: Tatsumi Kimishima Is Aiming To Quadruple Nintendo's Operating Profits
sigh I just hope this "radical departure" isn't the cloud based structure some folks are whispering about. I'd like my console to always be able to perform as best as it can without the need for fickle online services or relying on other idle systems to push whatever graphics it tries to conjure onto my screen. That just sounds unreliable and creepy.
Don't even know where I picked that up but damn do I wish it to be a false rumour.
Re: The 3DS Virtual Console Pokémon Titles Won't Support Restore Points
Makes perfect sense with these games and Nintendo's concern to keep them as cheat-free as possible. Perfectly acceptable.

Re: Eiji Aonuma and Malo Begin Talking About The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD
