@PikminMarioKirby Eh. I used to play Splatoon 3 with my brother with one buy, but SMBW feels kinda like cheating Nintendo out of a game, since you could just split screen multiplayer to play together. Also, now you can have 2 switches play different things from the same Nintendo account without internet, something me and my brother will surely use a lot.
@JohnnyMind I heard that the Wii U/3ds had a review function, for a week before they promptly removed it. Maybe too many ‘troll’ reviewers ruined it for everybody?
@jorel262 Probably that, and the rumor of only 3 cart sizes (for third party devs). WDYM by familiar though? Wii U? Wasn’t around during that gen, so don’t know some of the more niche things.
@Cathalm Sadly, that won’t happen. They have some of the most popular sports games under their belt, and Split fiction, a game that everyone is buying (because it great, waiting for S2 version to play it), is published by them.
@Yosher (Big splatoon fan FYI) I don’t think grinding is a big deal in Splatoon 3. If you played 2 (which most people did, or they just played single player like my friends), then you could just get any 3 weapons you wanted, or even if you didn’t, it didn’t take too long to get 3 tickets. And the only grindy part is the Catalog, which you would only care about if 1) you want to 100% the game, most likely meaning you have 100%ed other games and are used to the grind, or 2) you care a lot about the game, but you would get the items just by playing if you liked the game that much. I played for appx. 4 hrs/wk for a few months, got lvl 30.
I don’t understand why so many people are excited for Mario on switch 2. I know everyone loves Mario, but you could have some cool Zelda puzzles, easier home designing in AC, accessibility options (for KB+M players) in Splatoon, but Mario will just be, Mario. Mario has never really used hardware gimmicks that much. Just makes no sense to me.
@StewdaMegaManNerd @DanElectrode The Japanese website says something else, thats what the headline is mentioning. But this is a primarily English website, so they are talking about something related to reach word minimum.
@WoomyNNYes They’ll probably know that some dumb kids will not understand the difference between the switch 1 and switch 2 dock, so it will probably say something on the top of the screen, like ‘Switch 1 dock not compatible with switch 2’ or something like that.
The entire point (as far as I can tell) is to offer FULL, ON CART physical releases. There is absolutely no reason why this is a game key card, especially when you could just buy NS1 version and get the upgrade pack (if this game has it) AND the full game on cart.
Gonna try getting charging grip. I rarely play on my tv, so pro controller is an unnecessary expense, but the normal grip feels very good to me (smol hands), and the back buttons will be very nice, just for the option. Couldn’t get a pre order, so gonna try to go to Costco day 1 for the Switch 2 + MKW + NSO+expansion pack bundle. My NSO recently ran out, so this would be good timing. Since it comes with NSO+, gonna also try for gc controller.
@westman98 Well, Cyberpunk had to work very, VERY hard to compress their game, since they have the only devs that care enough about physical media to put the entire thing on one game cart. Split Fiction and Madden don’t have to worry about cart limit, they can just pass that cost off to the consumers. I personally think that Cyberpunk will have 720-1080p graphics on the cart, with an optional 4k installation for those who want it.
I’ve never played either, so I can’t be talking. I’m hoping to get the Switch 2 + NSO Expansion pack bundle from Costco, because what single player game are you supposed to play before DKB? And I can just play the 3rd party games on a discount on my PS5.
@eltomo I heard a lot of people are like that. The Wii U version has higher highs, but lower lows (of visuals).
@Runex2121 @MamaSymphonia Custom firmware. It basically lets you hack your switch without having to go inside the hardware and physically mod it.
@Spoony_Tech I have a Dec. 2018 switch, and the worst that happened to me was a few scratches on the back and joy con drift (and even that was because my younger sister LITERALLY THREW MY SWITCH INTO THE WALL). I am scared to see how bad day one switches were with what you are saying.
@FishyS I’m not saying trade your switch to gamestop. Their prices are horrible. I’m just saying that if you want to sell your switch in the near (or even far) future, there’s options to still charge you joy cons. Plus, while $29.99 is pretty bad, at least it you’ll know any future switch 1 joy cons will work with it (or else they’ll get bad publicity, and nobody will buy them).
@Coalescence Nope. Switch 2 or launch unit switch 1s are gonna be worth more. The former because it can play switch 2 AND 1 games on a better screen and at a faster FPS (essentially like a better OLED, and if you want an OLED screen, then the inevitable OLED switch 2), and launch switch 1 for CFW, because some people are afraid of/dont want to hardware mod their switch.
@MamaSymphonia You realize that if you had a launch unit, you probably could’ve gotten a similar amount to all of you items combined with just it, since it has CFW. And not all switches have CFW, only OG launch units (any before appx. summer 2018), so they are worth a lot more.
@dskatter @FishyS You guys realize that Nintendo started making external joy con (1) docks late last year for this specific reason right? I know it probably won’t make you not trade it in, but it is something to keep in mind when the time is right.
@Spoony_Tech @Kynwal That sounds brutal to (both of) your OG switch(es). What happened?
@Kiliomp My sister absolutely ruined my rails by just ripping the joy cons out. 🙃
@missingno_fgc If its a small publisher (ex. Fast Fusion, not saying their small, just not on the scale of Konami or etc.), maybe their profit margins are too low to afford a full game card? If it’s a big publisher, MONEY MONEY MONEY!
@AussieMcBucket Nope. Switch one version still has the save. But any progress made on the switch 2 version will not automatically transfer to switch 1 version (not sure you’d care about it doing so but…) and vice verca (no word on manual transfer, but the switch 2 version of BOTW and TOTK has some suspicious language that imply that you can do that)
@Medic_alert Ah, ok. I’ve been catching up on a ps4 backlog, and playing those plus my current ps5 games (from like, launch with my ps5), so I haven’t been in the loop on physical games. Thanks for the info. Sad they didn’t just put HD full game on disk and make 4k a day 1 patch.
@mattesdude Nah. Disk games (like on my ps5) come 100% on disk. You just download them for faster loading, since SSD speeds vs disk read speeds are much faster (for SSD). The worst case scenario is a day 1 patch for a bug discovered late in development, after a bunch of copies are manufactured. (Source; My Ghost of Tsushima Director’s cut copy)
@Stuffgamer1 Maybe 12-16 gigs? Why do you think MKW is 80 usd/90 EUROS physical? They need to make up profits. Or maybe they only make custom carts for their own games?
@missingno_fgc There’s a rumor floating around that there are only 3 physical sizes of game carts (key, 8 gigs, and 64 gigs), so many publishers would most likely rather pay for a cheap key card, rather than an expensive 64 gig cart, to either 1. maximize profits, and/or 2. they can’t afford the 64 gig price, especially if the game is like 20$ or something.
@speed_loafer Hopefully so. He’s my favorite game dev. Wouldn’t want to see him treated with such disrespect (considering he’s making an EXCLUSIVE game for the system)
@AussieMcBucket Alright, so If you transfer your save file, then you can play it on the switch 2 version AND the switch 1 version, but it’s not cross save. Its just you transferring one save. Does that make more sense?
@Sylamp Alright, then that makes more sense. Thanks, I only got my switch in 2018, and didn’t start following nintendo news until 2020, so I’m pretty unfamiliar with the more niche things from the switch’s start.
@Spider-Kev It’s literally JUST the license. There’s been a rumor spreading around that there are only 3 sizes of game carts (key-card, 8 gigs, and 64 gigs), and it becomes more and more believable every day.
40 USD!? FOR A SEQUAL TO A GAME THAT WAS ORIGINALLY 20 USD(That’s 4 USD right now)? THAT’S ESSENTIALLY THE SAME? I was going to buy it, but 40$ is just a little too much. Just cause a game is fun doesn’t mean its worth that much.
@NintendoByNature Nah, people just assumed that they were, because before today, there was only 1 third party non key-card physical release (Cyberpunk), combined with the rumors that there are only 3 different physical cards—key card, 8 gigs, and 64 gigs—made it so (at least I think) false information didn’t spread, more like everyone reached the same conclusion on their own, that ended up being (thankfully) wrong.
@PerfectFrost Nah. It’s for the people that want to resell their games. Code in a box are for gifts for people that love digital—so you have a physical box to hold.
@NintendoByNature False information? Everyone else had confirmed at the time (except Cyberpunk) that they would be key cards. Assuming the worst isn’t wrong. But I too, am glad these are full on cart
@jco83 I heard. I don’t use physical that much, but I guess I have to buy physical Cyberpunk to support physical gaming media. Just cause I strongly prefer digital doesn’t mean physical shouldn’t be an option.
@AussieMcBucket You can transfer the save from the switch 1 version to the switch 2 version, the same way you can transfer your save from the switch 1 version on switch 1 to the switch 1 version on switch 2. I hope that made sense
