Fire Emblem Warriors is just a few weeks away in Japan (it arrives in the West on 20th October) and Koei Tecmo is ramping up its marketing to build hype. Its latest video is a stylish showcase of the main cast to demonstrate how effectively they can dispose of hundreds of passive enemy minions.
It's good Warriors fun, in other words, as we get a look at combos and specials for plenty of characters; check it out below.
Are you planning to pick this up on Switch, or perhaps on New 3DS?

Maaaaan I need this game. Hyrule warriors was good but this looks like it's what I was really looking for.
Picking it up on Switch, I just don't touch my 3ds anymore.
'Are you planning to pick this up on Switch, or perhaps on New 3DS?'
Yes, yes I shall. Likely the N3DS version as my chances of getting a Switch in time for release but Legends was still really enjoyable. Seriously, i played it on an original 3DS. Had flaws but was playable. Got a New 3DS and holy cow, the difference is impressive. Much more satisfying. looking forward to seeing how FEW will perform now that it's a N3DS exclusive (compared to OG). Apparently it performs at 30fps so that's promising at least.
(in b4 someone says 'no because it doesn't have Hector/Lyn/My favourite character in it' )
So many good games in so little time.
Off topic but isn't bout time we got a Nintendo direct?
Still more excited for this than Mario Odyssey.
The last thing I need now is an assassin/master ninja character. (and Keaton, but RIP any chances he has)
All of the different modes they're including is really cool, but I think having all the Royal Siblings is overkill. Ike, Lyn, Hector, Alm, and Celica would've been much appreciated. Regardless, I'm sure I'll enjoy the game. (Praying for them as DLC)
The gameplay looks outstanding, looks like a musou game of course, but the combos and the flying and horse units moveset are one of the best from a musou game, ever.
The cast could be better of course, but I'll buy the season pass if they put any character that I like there, I just want tons of DLC, not just 4 or 6 characters, something like 12 or 20.
@Aaron09 And the fact that Elise and Sakura use the same weapons as their older brothers Leo and Takumi doesn't help the overkill.
Hope more characters get revealed. Probably same number of characters with Hyrule Warriors Legends.
@Aaron09 while I love those characters and get your point I think there is a silent majority who really only knows these newer characters.
@Brutchie-bear Exactly. @Beedrill4Smash True, but how will they ever know these characters if they don't get representation
I'd feel a lot better if a reprint of female Corrin amiibo was confirmed.
I'm still very interested in this game, nonetheless.
The lack of actual N3DS gameplay worries me slightly, I know they want the Switch version to be the focus here but all we've had is a couple of seconds from the reveal trailer.
I hope they jump right on making Hyrule Warriors 2 after finishing this game.
I know there's a lot of debate over character representation but it's worth bearing in mind that had I been in charge of the roster, I would have made Andy riding a small tank or Henry Fleming as a special hidden character for a surprise
@Aaron09 seriously, they could just put something like smash bros trophies or at least a database giving the characters info (personality, ties, army, ideology) from the game they come from, creating an opportunity to make a character popular and hopefully making a remake of said game.
Like this, obscure characters would get a chance to shine and we would probable get less copy paste characters like elise and sakura.
but no, lets make fire emblem fates & awakening featuring marth.
(DLC incoming with popular characters...)
Remember when Chrom said Lissa was delicate? Doesn't look like it anymore!
@liljmoore They're doing a blowout at TGS.
Considering how the game's advertising has been largely Japanese focused, I doubt we're getting a Direct.
A week before Odyssey? No Tharja? Maybe later on then.
And still no New 3DS footage at all. What are they hiding?
I just hope the gameplay stacks up, more like HW and less like DW. Based on what (limited as it was) seen so far, it unfortunately seemed more like the latter than the former. I'm more than ready to be convinced of the opposite though.
Look at all those characters I don't care about.
They said Shadow Dragon characters would also be featured, but I guess they really meant just Marth.
@RainbowGazelle Well the fact the New 3DS version comes out the same day as the Switch version means the New 3DS version won't be shown. Nintendo did the same with BotW Wii U after the Switch was revealed.
wow look at all the variety
I swear I almost want to import this...but I can wait...I think.
Hang about, this is the entire Awakening Lineup? What about Tharja and Donnel?
@Aurumonado Is that sarcasm? I honestly cannot tell.
@NCChris
Ya I was being sarcastic. I'd rather they pulled characters from all 15 games instead of just 2.
@Aurumonado Well...it's actually 3 games and while it is a shame from a variety standpoint, it does make sense business wise.
They're going to show more Shadow Dragon characters in the weeks coming up before launch, so people can stop saying it's just Marth. I'm disappointed that Azura's not included, but I'm still really excited for this game!
I played this at PAX last weekend and I loved it! I played hundreds of hours on Hyrule Warriors and loved it, but this game adds a few more mechanics. It utilizes the combat triangle familiar to Fire Emblem games, so the enemies you fight will have indicators that they're strong or weak to you. It also allows you to swap between heroes on the battlefield like the traditional warriors games. Another aspect taken from the Fire Emblem games is you can pair up with another hero to create different combos. When I was using Camilla, I selected to have Robin pair up with me and when I activated my special, Robin went first to do some magic, then Camilla finished up with some awesome melee devastation. I foresee spending hundreds of hours on this game.
@Aurumonado Yeah. Imagine if 2/3rds of Hyrule Warriors characters were just from Skyward Sword. That's what this feels like.
20+ years of franchise history but they chose to focus on the most recent games.
I get that Awakening and Fates saved the franchise, but at least bring more to the table. Having more characters from different games won't alienate anyone from this game, if anything it would introduce players to other games from the franchise and possibly help other games to be localized.
The enemy hordes look like they're being blown away in...organized geometric sections? I'm sure that, in real life, troops don't fly away in such neat patterns. Fire Emblem Fates Warriors releases October 20th.
@Aaron09 I think they will get added as dlc but you are going to get a lot more people interested by showing them characters they know.
@Brutchie-bear True, but I think they could've had a healthy amount of both
