Does anyone remember just playing a game and having fun? Like, without being so cynical and over analytical. Before you were like, "anti-aliasing," "framerates," or, "I'll start a holy war in my console's honor?" Those were good times.
I don't get all the hate. Aside from the fact they missed the opportunity to move that right stick to where people's thumbs could comfortably fall, which Nintendo blew themselves. Meh.
@sanderev I've tried talking sense to some people here. Just don't bother. Save yourself that kind of unnecessary headache.
When the service shuts down, "sucks for you." Nintendo's getting money for this service, so it won't just be like, "hey, screw this thing that costs money to maintain," because this is a paid service, whereas others were free and therefore useless to them but... Once it's done, it's done. Competent save backups already exist for the Switch, Nintendo just didn't have anything to do with it.
It's like you haven't gotten used to the fact that sometimes, Nintendo's just like, "eff you."
I love the company, but... Like, when you see a pattern, that's as simple as 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, I have no idea why some people think the next part of the sequence is gonna be 35.
@KaiserGX I cannot fault you for being right, 'cause, yeah. But I feel like that was more of the design actually developing. Compare any lead character in the first chapter of a long-running manga to chapters at the end, and yeah, subtle differences exist because a style was developed more or less.
By the time the original Pokemon anime hit, the designs were pretty cemented, I'd say. It's just a thing of personal preference, but I think it looks so silly with a round head.
@KingBowser86 I played the demo for a few minutes. Really, seemed pretty tight to me. Only thing I found difficult at one point was trying to jump UP into a space that Rock shoulda fit in with relative ease, but it was SUPER difficult and took like nine tries.
I've been lovin' Mega Man since my introduction to the Battle Network series, so I'm onboard AF, still. I'd love to see that series return. Oh snap, what I'd do for two physical collections to cover all iterations in that series with some friggin' online battles, OMG.
If anyone from Capcom is reading this, let's get freaky. <3
Pikachu's head isn't round. Whoever's been doing that... STOP IT.
Maybe that's one of those, "dude, chill, it's not a big deal," but it's literally the most recognizable Pokemon, to start, and...
I mean, can you imagine if the screwed up Mickey Mouse's ears?
Also, not a "big deal," but from a design standpoint... It just is the most irritating thing.
Always down to jam some tunes, though. I hope these don't stick in my head like those old game boy ones.
Man, I'd hear those songs constantly. I wouldn't hold your breath for a localized release. I remember my mom getting me the old Zelda Ocarina of Time CDs years ago. That was a damn good woman, there, guys.
Luckily, there's no region locking on music CDs. It's always really to cool to see how songs are ultimately arranged for album releases, since we only ever hear an intro, and then an eternal loop in most cases.
@Henmii Hey, I wanna clear somethin' up. First, off, I didn't realize the article made the joke. I thought that was all you, and it did genuinely bring one of those wry smiles to my face.
Second, I made two jokes with my post, and if they went over your head, I'm sorry, they weren't supposed to. First, I "censored," a swear by dropping the first letter, and then said the tragedy was not being able to reach Nintendo's Japanese tech support.
Obviously, the tragedy is the loss of life and love in this instance.
I couldn't ever wish the worry or fear or pain, or any of this on anyone truly. A lot of the time I come across as very crass, and sometimes maybe even intolerant, of some things and I don't feel like as good of a guy as I should be. That's on me, so every once in a while, I need to get the good out. I want you to have whatever good I can offer in these words.
I really don't want you to feel bad for finding humor in something like this, because, while it is absolutely heartbreaking... I dunno, I think we kinda need that sometimes. The world can be big and bad and frightening as all Hell. And sometimes, we just need that laugh. It doesn't disparage anyone necessarily by trying to find something beyond the heartache. Maybe not everyone in the audience is gonna like the joke or think it's appropriate, but that doesn't matter. What matters is, everyone needs to know there is always more to a situation or a circumstance than heartache and turmoil.
Don't feel guilty for trying to seek that out. And don't let anyone make you feel guilty when you're able to find a laugh or a smile.
Lose my mind and money over music games. This looks like an odd one, though. Gonna hafta look more into it and hear more. Guess I'm more familiar with... "rhythm," games, and this... doesn't look rhythmically inclined.
@Darlinfan I don't feel like that's fair. To be honest, Twilight Princess going from the GameCube to the Wii... wasn't really terribly groundbreaking, or anything, just a way to try to sell the new system.
BotW feels way more like a Switch game than a Wii U title. The Wii U could barely handle the game, and all the freezes and frame drops, not that I'm one to care in most cases, made it really difficult to play and many times I was really feeling disappointed in Nintendo for having released it. I'm not used to Nintendo games performing poorly, 'cause Nintendo all about that quality. This in the Wii U's case... was not top-notch. Why did all of the touch features disappear? Because the Wii U's development of this title was never ultimately intended to be priority.
You'll likely wanna argue that it itself was strictly a port, but this is Nintendo. They didn't spend all their time on Zelda and then be like, "oh snap, guys, the NX. That new hardware thing. Dang, maybe we'll just throw the code in the code toaster and pop out a hackneyed port. I can't believe we forgot about it."
Like it was unanticipated. We're talking Nintendo here. We're talking business and money.
This game was developed with the Switch -at least- in mind from the start. It was shoehorned onto the Wii U.
@FarkyValentine Ok, see if that happens, at this rate, we'd get something like, "Final Fantasy VII ReMix Disaster," and it would be the new remaster, toned down, and presented in PS one nostalgia disaster vision.
I'd rather eat a pillow made from chocobo feathers.
Not that this isn't some sort of cool. I definitely dig it, but it does feel like an incredible tone shift from the original, and lazy, in terms of effort put forth by Square Enix.
This very much so reminds me of the DS remakes of the old FF games, 3, 4, etc? Maybe that was it?
Either way, they still did have engaging stories that you could genuinely take seriously. They weren't bad because they weren't realistic in tone. However, those were upgrades from the previous releases, and...
I dunno, I saw the opening of XV and like... That game reeked of emotion. The way the light would shine could almost tell a friggin' story and invoke thought and emotion. This... does not look like it's gonna command that outta you.
Not to mention in the DS games, at least their mouths moved. I know it's kinda like, "big whoop," but it's also kinda like... Why not? How much more effort would a few lip flap textures be to... ugh.
@WaveBoy So you need to go listen to Mega Man's voice in 8, because there is not a thing about it that has any "Sonic the Hedgehog," "edge," to it. That is a super... awfully childish voice. Dare I say... Mega childish? Not a good one, mind you. That voice acting was atrocious. But... You've crossed wires somewhere, or something.
Whoops. Re-read that. Never mind. I was wrong.
@KingBowser86 I legitimately fail to see what you mean. I haven't checked this demo out yet, but... Those PSP games were tight, if memory serves. Nothing seemed to off.
@Gold_Ranger I hope you're not as sad and lonely as ya seem. 'Cause hating people is just a sad way to be. I hope you get better.
Y'know, a friend of mine presented the thought that all the outcries for "representation," and "inclusion," are little more than willful segregation. Kinda messed up my world view in a way. Strange the ways that people want to divide themselves from everyone.
I come from a, "colorful," family, so I'm all about tolerance, and accepting things of others that have no concern or power over my own life, but once that single thought was presented, I just... haven't known what to think.
That said, I don't think this is something I could see myself getting. As I said before, it's been free through multiple channels since it's release, and... awesome for anyone that does want it, but... How much "content," is even there?
I suppose it's not a terrible asking price considering, but... a few hours of entertainment? (I feel like I'm pushing it there.) I dunno, I'm a cheap, (broke) value-based spender. If I'm spending money, I'm gonna spend time to get that value as well. I just don't see it.
But, hey, cool. I hope it does well for the devs and publishers and is a decent enough product for any consumer that's feelin' it.
I've been working on some Phoenix Wright videos all night, so this is the coolest news.
I, for one, am the hype right now.
Phoenix Wright games have yet to let me down in any regard. The new gimmicks always take a sec to get used to, but they're not so bad once you get them down.
If anyone ever missed on the Ace Attorney Investigation games, go fix that. They're like... a beautiful off-shoot, evolution. Pumped for whatever Capcom can bring.
That's why it's a good thing Kairosoft has been doing this for years and were already hip to plan.
You wouldn't happen to be... squints through shades
Developing a non-pixelated management sim, now, would ya?
And if you were... I mean, obviously, you wouldn't be planning to bring that to the Switch platform now, would ya?
I loved the 3DS for it's 3D but I understand some people didn't get as much out of it. Played all the way through Ocarina of Time with it on. I don't know that I could let the lack of the effect bother me too much on the Switch...
Might be tempted for Mutant Mudds. The first one on 3DS did not disappoint, if memory serves.
@gcunit
Presumably, if they made a promotional video for a sale that was gonna last a duration of twenty days, wouldn't they likely make mention of that if they intended to do so at all? I'm not tryna be a negative nonprophet here or anything, it's just a thought. I don't see it happening. Even if the video was something that could have been thrown together in a matter of an hour, it still costed money and time to make. It woulda been mentioned.
@Anti-Matter He's just being rude, man, don't worry about it.
Your comment was perfectly relevant, and actually related to the post in some fashion, unlike his.
That said, I want to dig these Lego games, but for whatever reason, of all of the ones I've tried, I can't find any enjoyment. My friends are nuts about them. Maybe a new Lego Racers.
@Giygas_95 I didn't edit my post fast enough, I figured it out.
It's all good. I'm the sarcasm champion. I'm basically... uh... Oh, gosh, who's a really awful person that doesn't cross any real lines for a Nintendo related website... There's my President, but I'm not that bad...
Anyway, I express my opinion here and people get their jimmies ruffled, so I... hmm. I don't guess I do anything different at all.
@b0nes Oooh, a home studio? <3 Haha. I've worked inside of FL Studio for 10 years now, and I actually just graduated past recording with a busted microphone sometime last year. I had around 40 songs on SoundCloud, but they wanted to act goofy and not review some legal documentation so I actually just pulled it all down this week. I've still got tracks on Spotify, Apple Music, and other streaming services.
I'd say send me a message on fb, twitter, or instagram. Links in my profile here. We can't be derailin' the comment section.
@imgrowinglegs Gone Home was free on the xbox one like a year ago. My girlfriend was playing it. It looked interesting, but only like, "do I actually want to dedicate any time to this," levels of interesting, not, "here's money," interesting.
@b0nes Heck yeah. I dunno, though, I understand the indie term. They're independent developers. They're guys like you or me, that do this because, a, they love it, and b, they want to make something and share it with you. They kinda need it to be known that they won't make it without your support. I do get it. I'm an indie musician. I love what I do, and it would be cool to support my family and myself with it, and make it into a bigger, better thing. Big studios aren't necessarily in too much trouble if they spend a lot of money and time on something that doesn't work out for them. It's not, "good," and they all still got people attached.
This is pretty exciting, really. I'm a big fan of relatively simple tools (inb4 "'cause they remind you of yourself," and similarly formatted, but equally hilarious jokes) that can be pushed to their limits to do really cool stuff.
Wonder if there's any potential for application to homebrew...
@Hylian_Ticipated Your username is the best, and I'm totally glad to hear this game is more than fan-service. I still feel like I might pass though, in favor of FighterZ.
This looks really fun, but it also LOOKS like it's just fan service.
"Thanks, I guess?"
But, I mean, that feels like it's just supposed to appeal to... someone who wants that, and nothing else.
I can make an exception for Dead or Alive in spite of that similar approach or mentality, but I know for a fact there's a really good fighting game buried betwixt the bosoms... And that game series isn't limited to female fighters.
It's a video game, and it's entirely ok to make "sexually appealing," characters. It doesn't hafta be so "taboo," or "offensive," and that's not what I'm saying this is at all, but, I would feel like a creep to play this one, so unless it goes real cheap, 'cause I do think it looks fun, I'll avoid all that, I think. lol
@Blizzia If I were wearin' a hat I'd tip it, because you're right, and there shouldn't be such a differentiation between them.
Bad games are bad.
And, like I said, I'd never really played games outside of Nintendo systems, and their focus hasn't ever been wholly focused on online play, (even now in September amirite-ZING) so I can't complain on issues regarding that.
That's really interesting to know, though.
By the way, I'm fully aware given Japan's recent natural disasters, that Zing was unearned, and in light of that, I feel bad, but... ho hum, I suppose.
@FatAlbert1 That's my response to anyone who could be so cold. If other people responded similarly, ¯(ツ)/¯
You've got points that are decent enough, but I mean, if I'm working on a product for people, and I and my people, my family, go through some crazy tragic nonsense, and a consumer wants to cry for a product announcement?
"I'm out. Screw it, and anyone who'd be so thoughtless."
The Japanese are very decent people and they show that through literal honor and integrity. Something you hear a lot about but don't usually see much of.
This is one reason I hate being one of the people that are vocally irritated about indie games, because indie doesn't mean bad. There truly are gems among them that could embarrass well-funded studios. It's just not uncommon to see games that lack polish to the point of laziness.
But I know when the devs truly love the work they've done. It shows, and it shows here, very much.
Also, as a general preference, I've grown through my life with Nintendo. There have always been other games on other systems that looked as interesting, or maybe more so, in some cases, but I've never owned other consoles outside of a PSP. Normally it might not hurt devs so much to not do a Nintendo release because the install base was different, along with other factors, such as Nintendo's attitude.
The Switch is an awesome friggin' device, and if a game looks good, I'm getting it. To have the option between a handheld or home console experience with all of the games, is GOAT level value, so why a dev wouldn't be trying to get their games on the system is beyond me.
It's, "do you wanna play our video game," vs., "do you wanna play our video game a n y w h e r e ?"

Re: Nintendo Seems To Have Accidentally Revealed The Title Of Next Year's Yoshi Game
@Giygas_95 ...Familiarity, as in, it sounds... familiar. Like, in spite of it sounding really stupid, I'm nearly sure someone else said it somewhere.
Edit: Oh, that's right, it came from that stupid "leaked internal document."
That's why it sounded familiar and stupid.
But, man, it would just work.
Re: Nintendo Seems To Have Accidentally Revealed The Title Of Next Year's Yoshi Game
@Giygas_95 See, I dunno, when you said it, it had this air of genuine familiarity, and I just wanna know why.
O.o
Re: Nintendo Seems To Have Accidentally Revealed The Title Of Next Year's Yoshi Game
Why is everyone acting like it was gonna be "Yoshi's Flipping Island?" I'll grant, it doesn't sound awful, but...
That sounds like some adult swim, "hey, let's hit a crack pipe and do robot chicken stuff," stuff.
@justin233 You got a solid point there, considering nobody bought the Wii U.
Re: Dead Cells On Switch Is Outselling The PlayStation 4 Version
@b0nes Oooh, a home studio? <3 Haha. I've worked inside of FL Studio for 10 years now, and I actually just graduated past recording with a busted microphone sometime last year. I had around 40 songs on SoundCloud, but they wanted to act goofy and not review some legal documentation so I actually just pulled it all down this week. I've still got tracks on Spotify, Apple Music, and other streaming services.
I'd say send me a message on fb, twitter, or instagram.
Links in my profile here. We can't be derailin' the comment section.
Re: Nintendo Download: 6th September (North America)
@imgrowinglegs Gone Home was free on the xbox one like a year ago. My girlfriend was playing it. It looked interesting, but only like, "do I actually want to dedicate any time to this," levels of interesting, not, "here's money," interesting.
Re: Dead Cells On Switch Is Outselling The PlayStation 4 Version
@b0nes Heck yeah. I dunno, though, I understand the indie term. They're independent developers. They're guys like you or me, that do this because, a, they love it, and b, they want to make something and share it with you. They kinda need it to be known that they won't make it without your support. I do get it. I'm an indie musician. I love what I do, and it would be cool to support my family and myself with it, and make it into a bigger, better thing. Big studios aren't necessarily in too much trouble if they spend a lot of money and time on something that doesn't work out for them. It's not, "good," and they all still got people attached.

Re: Switch Game Cases Will State Whether Or Not Cloud Saves Are Supported
@Cosats I'm just saying the ability to competently back up your save files exists. Lol Since Nintendo couldn't manage.
And you can keep it somewhere you can access. OoO WHOA SUCH DATA MANAGEMENT

Re: Feature: Creating A New Generation Of Indie Gems With YoYo Games' GameMaker Studio 2
Re: SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy - A Sexy Street Fighter That's Perfect For Beginners
Oh, no, I just realized the t e r r i b l e potential for modding this has.
...might hafta pick it up after all.
Re: SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy - A Sexy Street Fighter That's Perfect For Beginners
@Hylian_Ticipated Your username is the best, and I'm totally glad to hear this game is more than fan-service. I still feel like I might pass though, in favor of FighterZ.
Re: SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy - A Sexy Street Fighter That's Perfect For Beginners
It doesn't hafta be so "taboo," or "offensive," and that's not what I'm saying this is at all, but, I would feel like a creep to play this one, so unless it goes real cheap, 'cause I do think it looks fun, I'll avoid all that, I think. lol
Re: Dead Cells On Switch Is Outselling The PlayStation 4 Version
@icebear80 See, if I'd already bought it, I'd buy it again. For sure.
Re: Switch Game Cases Will State Whether Or Not Cloud Saves Are Supported
Funny, 'cause on a hacked Switch you can just copy the files. Huh.
Re: Random: Talented Individual Finishes Super Mario 64 With Nintendo 64 Mouse
@Orwellianson What are you up to that's so special?
Anyone writin' articles about you?
Re: Fortnite v5.40 Brings New Mode, Grappler And Huge Performance And Gyro Fixes On Switch
Oh, snap, an update. Gonna download this now.
That motion aiming feature WRECKS, man.
Edit:
It appears as though I jumped the gun, and will not be downloading it, as it is totally not currently available.
Re: Dead Cells On Switch Is Outselling The PlayStation 4 Version
@Blizzia If I were wearin' a hat I'd tip it, because you're right, and there shouldn't be such a differentiation between them.
Bad games are bad.
And, like I said, I'd never really played games outside of Nintendo systems, and their focus hasn't ever been wholly focused on online play, (even now in September amirite-ZING) so I can't complain on issues regarding that.
That's really interesting to know, though.
By the way, I'm fully aware given Japan's recent natural disasters, that Zing was unearned, and in light of that, I feel bad, but... ho hum, I suppose.
Re: Nintendo Direct Delayed Due To Powerful Earthquake in Hokkaido
@FatAlbert1 That's my response to anyone who could be so cold.
If other people responded similarly, ¯(ツ)/¯
You've got points that are decent enough, but I mean, if I'm working on a product for people, and I and my people, my family, go through some crazy tragic nonsense, and a consumer wants to cry for a product announcement?
"I'm out. Screw it, and anyone who'd be so thoughtless."
The Japanese are very decent people and they show that through literal honor and integrity. Something you hear a lot about but don't usually see much of.
A very RESPECTFUL decision on Nintendo's part.
Re: Dead Cells On Switch Is Outselling The PlayStation 4 Version
I dunno.
