@Likethepear People are dead, get the hell over yourself. Homes are BURIED and I'm sure some people can't get a hold of their families. Their lives and loved ones are FAR more important than doing or showing a presentation.
"I don't get plastic things? Sorry, John, but you and your family hafta starve, man. I reallllly like plastic stuff. I can't lick data."
I think the bigger picture is, you're willing to dump on someone 'cause you can't get what you want exactly how you want it, and as a consumer, that's not such a bad thing because, hey, sometimes somebody has to go hungry, or spend some time in the dark or the cold, 'cause they just couldn't get it right, but as a person?
Whoa, there's a totally inappropriate swear in this that has totally shredded my delicate sensibilities. plz fix thx
Diablo III is gonna be a title to get for sure. Kicking it off day one for their con, though... I mean, if so, that day's a wash, outside of all of the money they'll make. Attendees will just be glued to their Switch screens. lol
@NoxAeturnus I mean, a dumb answer would have been, "yeah, we're totally developing this."
I might be tempted to buy a CoD game if it came to the Switch and eventually hit a bargain bin. I had friends that enjoyed it, but I was never about it. These games have all basically been "the same," since Medal of Honor.
But I suppose after 18 or 34 titles, it might have finally actually changed enough to warrant a purchase. Kinda like with 2K18. Won't want or need another basketball video game for like 15 years. lol
@JayJ All I'm saying is a limited run on a product that's been around for a solid while now is the best bet, 'cause they'd be lucky to sell more than what they produce. (Not that selling more than what you have is a thing that can be done, but, semantics.) You're one of those cryin' "digital only, no sale," types and you can be mad about it if you want, but that's just as silly, because it's the safest bet and offers the best return to the developers that have families to feed. If you give a heck about them and their work and like what they do, offer your support.
But whining over a lack of a couple plastic chunks is so counter-intuitive. In this particular collector edition, sure Yooka-Laylee comes with a few things that will interest a collector, (non-functioning plastic and faux-nostalgia attachment, radical) and not even a casual consumer, but it's so dumb in almost every other circumstance because I still see these complaints. These games don't even come with booklets anymore most of the time. It's a plastic case and a plastic card with a stock paper card. Then chances are you're gonna hafta offload updates or DLC to a micro SD anyway.
Physical collections are great, and by far, I prefer physical media. Having to hope you'll always be able to access digital collections is a craps shoot, and there's always gonna be some kind of potential for hang ups that ultimately degrade the user experience.
But, yeah, I suck, cry about it.
@Eef Guy comes in, sees people acting goofy and calls 'em on it, offers logic and reason, and calls for one or two heat deaths of the universe and now he's the bad guy. Because that's fair.
@Yorumi You're the weird uncle. Papa and Mama game company are letting you look after their son, that they made, so they do know what's best, and you can either be in TWEWY's life or not.
@PhazonEnhanced Yeah, but as I've stated, there are other factors in that. See my above post because I am bad at the internets. But, if we're being real, the dev team likely tried to make it work, and probably curse near gave themselves carpal tunnel trying to play it.
If it works but it's uncomfortable as bad word to play then does it really work? No. I'm sure they tried and found it to generally detract from the experience. So it didn't make the cut.
@The_Pixel_King See, but you're not thinking logically. That would take effort. If they can no-effort it, bam, that's so much easier, and still money.
I'm not sure if they're doing a physical release, but if not, and it doesn't sell too well, then you, or collectively, we, have spoken as a consumer base. But the question is, will it even really matter? If they went into this on a budget of $40,000 and produced this and only sell 1200 copies digitally, they're still ahead. And, it's gonna be one of the really -decent- offerings the Switch has, and the way I see it, the Switch has at least 3 or 4 more years of life in it's run. (I personally hope longer than that, but we can't know how these crazy Nintendo guys are working. Probably prototyping new hardware now.) I know I've thrown out random sales figures and what's surely a wildly inaccurate budget, but... it's business. Turn as little work into as much money as possible. I'm not praising that kind of mindset or work ethic among devs, because that's when we as consumers get complacent with getting the shaft.
I can't see why anyone expected them to overhaul any real elements of the game.
Perhaps the call for an end to humanity on this issue was -slightly- dramatic, but you've still gotta take things like, "Cardi B, is making music," into consideration. Am I really THAT unjustified? Reallllly?
WHAT? THEY COULDN'T SHOEHORN SOMETHING TOGETHER TO USE THE PRO CONTROLLER WHEN IT CLEARLY LACKS THE NECESSARY FUNCTIONS FOR THIS GAME THAT WAS ORIGINALLY DESIGNED WITH A HEAVY TOUCH FOCUS?! OUTRAGE.
Anyone who's surprised by this or thinks it's a bad decision is a prime example of why humanity needs to come to an end.
@saintayu Hey, someone's advertising Pokemon games for iOS on Instagram and Twitter, and they're almost definitely unlicensed. Get 'em, Jay.
On a real note, definitely getting this. I started plotting a game out a couple months ago when I heard. Fingers are crossed really hard that we get to bring in assets.
Never liked Monster Hunter. Watching a friend play through World, though, and it looks like some fun. I'd play it before any of these older titles. Pass.
@Androyd34 For this game it's a totally viable option to decide whether or not you'd be interested in the series enough to get it on the Switch. Not to mention, while I love my Switch, and it's the only console I have, smartphone gaming doesn't have to be a watered-down, scoffed-at experience. Phoenix Wright games played wonderfully, Ghost Trick, The World Ends With You (ohsnapnohediint), Final Fantasy 3, IV, and the After Years are all AWESOME examples of games that were available for the Nintendo DS, (except FFIV After Years) but ported to iOS and Android, in amazing fashion. I'd say all versions drastically improved many aspects from their original counterparts. Not to mention Oceanhorn is an awesome title that was released years ago for smartphones, and the Switch just got it. Great game. Cool that it came to the Switch. But, nah, no reason to beef with smartphone gaming. And don't tell me to, "get out of here with that crap," 'cause I got so much crap, and I will bring it and I will brandish it like you would not even believe.
All I hear when statements like this come out: "What we produce isn't interesting enough to stand on it's own, in the sense that the visual representation is the most redeeming quality of this overall experience."
If I were a developer or publisher, (indie, mind you) I'd be charging more on the Switch than say, something like Steam. If it were an $8 title on Steam, I'd charge $10 on the Switch, but maybe open with $5 sale. These guys gotta be able to justify their Switch dev kits. I'm not a big fan of indie titles, but if you are, support what you care about. If it means payin' a little more for something you love, made by people you care for, to play in a new way, do it.
@kepsux You're absolutely right. Nintendo doesn't want you to be behind on system updates when they're constantly fighting the hackers that are trying to add features the system needs since Nintendo's focus is on preventing hackers instead of the system features...
I hate being uninterested in the Nindies. It's mostly because they're all wannabe retro cash grabs that lack substance, or the same 8 isometric shooter games from 10tons.
@Bliquid So, I accidentally caught the first episode. My buddy flipped it on in attempts to make me have an aneurysm. It's got this real element of "trying," and it almost adds a certain charm to it, when you consider how skewed it is from it's source material. It could be way less lame if it wanted to be, it just doesn't. Name changes, re-adapted characters, characters that just got the ax, setting changes, quips. (Mega-nize me! ....wtf? Ok, sure.)
@Ryu_Niiyama What to do? If you've got a smartphone, go check out the first episode of season one on iOS or Android. I'm fairly certain both platforms have the first episode for free. I love these games, so I'm on-board as can be, but I say that'd be a good way to determine whether or not the series is for you.
For anyone interested, but unsure, this game series is wholly unrelated to both the television series, and the comics. You're not going to be lost on the narrative going into this. The game play is not anything close to groundbreaking, because it's driven mostly by your choices in dialogue. I replay the whole series every time a new season drops. It's a very gripping game for the story, and characters, so maybe if stuff like, Life is Strange, Maniac Mansion, Thimbleweed Park, or Phoenix Wright is up your alley, you're gonna dig this. (All amazing games that are very basic in terms of "gameplay.") If you're looking for intense action... It's not the best choice.
Regardless, totally double dipping on this. Triple dip in some cases. (Mobile, Xbox One, now Switch.)
As a Mega Man fan, I can see this wasn't made to be aimed at me. It looks like PJ Masks. With that being the case, with it's bright colors, simplistic shapes, and what will undoubtedly be a very minimal narrative... it's clear who the target audience is.
I think my five year old can find fun in it, and what's the problem with that? I kinda welcome it, really. It's a new adaptation for a new audience. Let the new audience decide what to make of it. It's not for us.
The Marvel cartoons that were developed for children don't make Iron Man or Hulk, or Captain America lame. They made them appeal to someone else.
