I want a collection that includes the original, Extreme 1 & 2 and Infinity Gene. That would be perfection! Still, I bought this and the basic version of the Japanese collection. I love Space Invaders. I grew up playing the Atari 2600 port on family night and it was so fun.
@masterLEON Maybe the bright side is that people are trying to be conscientious with their purchasing power... I don't know. I've never taken an econ class as I'm a graphic designer.
@masterLEON Thanks for dropping that knowledge. I was really torn over deciding whether I should keep supporting SNK. You've set my conscience at ease.
@MakkaroniOni Now they're majority owned by the Saudi Crown Prince and are even more controversial. I love SNK but I'm unsure about supporting them anymore.
@PhilKenSebben I'm perish to Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Shadow Wars on 3DS. There's a female operative with red hair codenames Scarlet and the enemy is really just Cobra. It's a fun turn based strategy game.
The analog-only control feels terrible to me. 2D games should take advantage of the greater precision of the d-pad. That kills the game for me. Fading with a double tap on a d-pad - like Mega Man X or Cybernator - feels much more fluid.
My PlayStation was the first console that ever died on me. It happened a few weeks after I finished FFVII. I bought an N64 because I wasn't interested in getting another PlayStation and Treasure had just released Mischief Makers. It was a great purchase. N64 is weird because its limited releases forced me to focus on what I had or what was out rather than what was coming.
Treasure really killed it on N64. mischief Makers is one of my favorite games of all time. I used a tax refund to import Bangaioh and it was worth every penny. Sin and Punishment is still cool and can only be played properly on the N64 pad. The Mystical Ninja games are awesome. Ocarina of Time is still the best 3D Zelda. Ogre Battle 64 is one of the best strategy games made.
Hotshot Racing is soooo good! I preordered that one. I'm also super excited for Intertial Drift and Takotan looks weird and fun. It's a huge week for me!
I don't understand the appeal of the Trials of Mana remake. I've got the original in the Collection of Mana. I don't think polygonal graphics are worth $50 more.
@Thesharkfromjaws It takes some practice to improve but it's worth it. I also love the increased importance of smart strikes rather than extensive combos. It's a brilliant game.
I bought this off of the Japanese eShop and play it almost daily. The gameplay is superb and the online is good, better than Dragon Ball Fighterz but not as good as BlazBlue Cross Tag.Of the hundreds of game I've played online, I've only had a handful of unplayable games. I'm getting a physical copy of the U.S. release and cannot wait for more players to play online.
@The-Chosen-one Base game has 16. There are 5 in the season 1 DLC and 4 in season 2. I adore this game. It's my favorite fighting game this generation.
@judaspete Most of the team behind The Last Blade games went on to do the Guilty Gear games.
That sounds interesting but I've honestly moved on. Samurai Shodown is my new fighting game of choice. I prefer the mechanics and the online play is better.
My faves:
Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes
SD Gundam G Generation DS
Chrono Trigger
Rocket Slime
Jump Superstars
Space Invaders Extreme
Advance Wars: Days of Ruin
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Jump Super Stars
This article is based on the assumption that Nintendo has not modified the stick design. No one knows if that is the case at this point. Still, I plan to get a Lite as the Switch is not very portable. It feels too fragile in handheld mode and is too large.
I also wish they would have used the 3DS circle pad. I really like how that feels.
I have one of the earlier releases of these and it's amazing. The d-pad feels somewhat like the Dreamcast pad, which I love. I use rechargeable batteries and go about a month between charges.
@AcridSkull At some point, controllers with non-replaceable batteries will no longer hold a charge. It's true for the Pro controller and the Joy Con.
@citizen_zane It's leagues better than the Pro controller. Not only does it work properly, it's super comfortable.
I don't see how this is considered news. They stated that the game requires either a single Joy .com or the Pokeball controller when Let's Go was announced.
The emulation is pretty good but the music is really low and the music seems out of sync on Third Strike. The online play is TERRIBLE, even worse than Ultra SFII.
When I read this, I had to pause to think about it. The truth of it is that I love the idea of the Virtual Console but it never lived up to its promise. Hamster's ACA Collection is blowing VC out of the water in both release rate and content. Maybe it's better to leave this in the hands of the content owners rather than creating a bottleneck in Nintendo's in-house service.
I really don't understand the complaints. I've never gotten any sort of perks for buying PSN games. I prefer these perks as the previous discounts and free game selections we're usually for games I already owned. I buy mostly physical from Best Buy at 20% off, collect Best Buy points, and pay with a credit card that gives me 1% in points. Add in My Nintendo and I'm doing pretty well.
@WaveBoy I recently had to replace my TV recently so I bought an LG 1080p with very low latency. The difference was amazing, especially on games like Ultra SFII.
I have my original SNES and a Framemeister and will replace that set up with a Super Nt. The Framemeister upscales to 720p and is very nice but the SNES power brick makes me nervous. I cannot wait to get new hardware that outperforms the original and is safer to keep plugged in.
I don't get the dislike or dismissal of pixel art. Pixel art takes longer to create than most polygonal graphics and it's an art with few artisans left.
I'm all in on this game! Games have lost focus and gotten too long. I usually tire of a game well before seeing the ending credits. Once RPGs started boasting playtimes over 40 hours, they started losing me. A nice, tight 15-hour adventure seems about right. $40 seems reasonable to me but I'm getting the 20% prime discount and, at $32, this game seems like a good deal.
It seems I'm in the minority in feeling that I'm drowning in titles. I'm getting DQ Builders, The Longest Five Minutes, and Bayo 1/2 - three games in a week, not counting download titles like Mercenary Saga. The Switch keeps me busy and constantly forces me to decide quickly if a game is worth playing.
All of the Ultra SFII disses make me sad. It was a new entry in the SFII series. I've compared it to HDRemix on PS3 and the gameplay is far smoother and zippier. It might be built on that foundation, but it is a different game. It's like the jump from SFII to Championship Edition; same engine, new game. The amount of content (the art book, color editor, online modes) are quite good. I have put more than 80 hours into it and feel the $40 was totally worth it. I do wish the online was better but that's not happening.
It does seem like the Street Fighter 30th Collection will address the online so USFII will likely die after that is released.
@GoldenGamer88 I recall Sony providing some financing for KoFXIV so I doubt we'll see it on Switch. Maybe SNK's next game, which is rumored to be a new Samurai Shodown, will be on Switch.
The World Ends With You Final Remix and Ys VIII are both day one purchases. Mario Tennis with a story mode is super exciting so I'll likely get that day one as well. SNK Heroines game looks cool but I need more details. Kirby looks super fun. Overall a great mini Direct!
The cost reduction is often a result of economies of scale - as more 32gb flash sticks are sold, the factories become more efficient at producing them, letting the price. It isn't related to a larger version being released. As most publishers aren't using 32gb carts, I understand Nintendo delaying the 64s.
It baffles me that so few developers can optimize their games as efficiently as Nintendo. Super Mario Odyssey looks amazing and is fairly small by game size standards.
Floor Kids is amazing! It's a fairly simple rhythm game but the free-flowing style makes it incredibly entertaining. Whenever I play, my wife points out that I have a huge smile on my face; I'm not concentrating or looking stressed, just happy. I think that says it all.

@C-Daddy The paint on that d-pad would start wearing immediately. I have the Target exclusive with Mari and a silver d-pad; the silver is half gone.
