The Nintendo Switch is home to a number of amazing games, but one we would highly recommend perhaps spending some more time with is Samurai Shodown. Like many fighters nowadays, it'll be receiving some extra character DLC in the future.
During a special King of Fighters 15 video announcement, SNK producer Yasuyuki Oda mentioned how the team would announce Season Pass 3 characters for Samurai Shodown - which will include a fighter from The Last Blade in it.
"We'll also be announcing the newest Samurai Shodown Season Pass 3 characters during the KOF XV trailer reveal. And not just The Last Blade character we announced earlier but also another brand new one as well. So, both KOF and SAMSHO fans have something to look forward to!"
Samurai Shodown has previously announced DLC fighters from various third-party franchises such as Ubisoft's For Honor and Tencent's Honor of Kings.
What fighters would you like to see join Samurai Shodown's Season Pass 3? Are there any characters from The Last Blade series you would like added to the roster? Share your thoughts down below.

Looking forward to the announcement.
(Fingers crossed for Hibiki)
Gen-An still has a chance!
This was a solid Switch release.
One of the few fighters I actually really enjoy on Switch besides Ultra Street Figher II and Dragonball Fighter Z.
They need to release the upcoming KoF XV for Switch.
Gen An and Cham Cham for season 3 please.
Though I love playing DLC fighters, I wish they follow trends like what Nintendo did with Smash Bros. and add new DLC stages and music alongside the fighters. Most people don't know much about Ips like For Honor, Honor of Kings, and Last Blade and adding more contents to that would be fantastic or do it like Namco when they introduced Link to Soul Calibur II they added the Zelda theme for the game or like Kratos for MK9 (PS3 version only) where he got his own stage in the game or like when they put Ryo Sakazaki in Fatal Fury Special they made a special stage just for him complete with some Art of Fighting cameos in the background. I was sad that though Wan-Fu is in the game, his stage is not.
Chosen Undead, Slayer of Demons, Doom Slayer, or Baby Yoda would be great additions.
glad I bought this when I did, seems like physical copies for switch were limited
On a side note, what happened with the new Metal Slug?
From what I remember it was supposed to be released by the end of the year.
showdown* In the title
I would but the problem is, i have become addicted to buying games.
Not playing them.
Buy them. I'll buy 3-4 games at months end, play 1 or 2, but then sit on the other, i have 11 games still in wrapping and i own 32 physical games now. Not counting my digital collection for all indie games...
I have such a stupidly big back log that even if Nintendo discontinued the Switch today, i would be all set until their next endeavour.
@LeighDappa One would think that being a prequel to the first game would automatically include every character from that game. Apparently not. And if Cham-Cham makes it in before Gen-An, then I'm gonna have to say some words on Twitter 😤
@Eddyson Shodown is the correct spelling. There's an interview with Samurai Team/Samurai Gumi somewhere where they were asked about the localization of the title. I'll have to look it up.
@Razer What a revelation. You take the cake when it comes to someone literally having a backlog. We all talk about our backlogs often on here but I'm sure for most of us its a combination of either sitting on the shelf (physical or digital) or our Wish List (most case I believe). In my case my backlog is majority Wish List if not all. Why don't you try just a Wish List? Or is that how it starts but then discount sales are too tempting to ignore? If that's the case I can understand some.
@RustedHero you have no idea, it's actually gotten out of hand, whats worse is, if i list some of the games in my backlog, I'd never hear the end of it 😅.
I support the Gen An interest, per an interview I once read, Gen An is like the only character that survived from the original pitch that had monsters instead of samurai as fighters.
I also want more info about KOF15.
@MakkaroniOni Now they're majority owned by the Saudi Crown Prince and are even more controversial. I love SNK but I'm unsure about supporting them anymore.
@nilcam This isn't just directed at you, the other thread closed up before I got to it. (skip to the bottom if you want)
You can own a majority share of stocks but not own the company, which is what's going on. Granted, the deal for the remaining 18% needed to reach 51% still needs to pass with the rest of the controlling shareholders (which will likely happen, but we'll see). That said, Leyou would still own SNK, as far as I'm aware, assuming they hold the majority of the controlling shares. Those are specific shares of stock that are worth more votes per share, as opposed to normal shares, that can be used to vote on items during shareholder meetings. The Prince (EDIT: c/o his not-for-profit org, EGDC; but we know it's still him) is buying himself some voting power within SNK but that's it, as far as I'm understanding things. SNK is a publicly traded company in the east, anyone can buy available shares. Whether it's a working salaryman, a fast food cashier, or a Prince. You can contact a bank or broker, buy some shares, and own a part of a company, then get some dividends every quarter. Dividends don't directly come from sales revenue, they come from stock performance. You can say that company stocks and revenue are completely different, unless I'm wrong let me know. Stocks represent the value of a company, revenue is how much the company earns through sales, etc., and investors (anyone interested in buying stock or already owning stock) can buy or sell shares based on revenue trends or other company actions/events (like a Prince buying up half the shares) so the share price can go up and down, therefore affecting how much dividends get paid out. There's more to stocks than this, but that's about all I know.
tl;dr I don't care if the Prince bought all that stock, I know my money doesn't go directly to him because revenue and stocks are separate.
@masterLEON "I don't care if the Prince bought all that stock, I know my money doesn't go directly to him because revenue and stocks are separate."
Well, that and you might as well go naked and off the grid nowadays if you object to paying for something at least one unsavory person somewhere else in the world also has a stake in.
@masterLEON Thanks for dropping that knowledge. I was really torn over deciding whether I should keep supporting SNK. You've set my conscience at ease.
@nilcam Thank my younger self for paying attention in Economics class in High School 👍 Honestly I'm quite shocked that line of thinking was running rampant in that article thread and on the initial posts on Twitter. It's like when Nintendo puts out their company reports and projected numbers, people here are very vocal about not caring what analysts and investors say about stocks because WE know Nintendo's not "Nintendoomed" when they miss a projection. And that they print money even though "they don't like it". But now, when the organization of a certain individual of questionable credentials (the shares are being purchased by the Prince's not-for-profit, EGDC) buys some stock it turns into boycott city.
sigh I hate this mess. I can only blame Damo for pulling the trigger too early on the article before full official statements and translations became available.
@masterLEON Maybe the bright side is that people are trying to be conscientious with their purchasing power... I don't know. I've never taken an econ class as I'm a graphic designer.
Still waiting for Season 1 to be offered for free like it was for a while on PS4 ... especially how long it took to actually come out
