wonderful console and by far sega's most successful in terms of sales. but the megadrive was as epic as the super nintendo - had the best of both first and third-party games. who could argue with a system that had classics such as Sonic, streets of rage, shining force, phantasy star, ristar, gunstar heroes and monster world 4? i know i wouldn't!

i thought the idea was brilliant the moment i saw gameplay footage of this game. has me intrigued. i can't wait when this comes out in the U.K.

i too have never heard of this series but from what i have seen in that episode, the game play looks difficult but challenging. they should release this in europe, north america and australia.

i enjoyed tetris and dr mario - both games are very similar. yoshi is okay, but the gameplay can be frustrating sometimes and having to make sure each plate you swap is the right one to get rid of the enemies.

score is just about right here.

despite the reviews, i'm keeping my fingers crossed demiurge studios will do a better job for the wii U version. would be interesting to see if the wii U version turns out to be the best version of this game.

@rcmadiax i'd like for SEGA to put more of their quality titles on the eshop, wii U. but this looks so good. reminds me of daytona racing.

glad this didn't happen - otherwise the sonic games for example wouldn't appear on the wii, wii U, 3DS, DS. sega is my second favourite games company after nintendo. i'd rather have nintendo buying out sega and making them a second party alongside retro, intelligent systems and HAL labs to name.

i can imagine jet set radio, super monkey ball, skies of arcadia, bayonetta, space channel 5 and sonic, shining force, streets of rage, virtua fighter games alongside fire emblem, zelda, metroid, mario, kirby, pokemon etc. that would be one hell of a line-up!

i'm happy for sega - this is a great game and deserves to be successful, sales-wise.

this is one of those games that could do with a remake- better graphics, gameplay and controls. yes, it wasn't a great game back in the days, but i can only imagine how much better it can be as a revival/remake.

terrific nintendo direct - my favourite one was last year's in september with the revealing of monster hunter 3 ultimate and bayonetta 2 as a wii U exclusive. but wednesday's nintendo direct blew my mind. lots of surprises and the yarn yoshi game looks great. that last game - possible sequel to xenoblade chronicles- looked stunning. it is like xenoblade 1 plus monster hunter. happy about the legend of zelda: windwaker getting a HD remake- i wanted a toon link-based zelda game after years with adult link, so this was a nice surprise.

smash bros, 3D mario and mario kart rounded up the best of what we got- i can't wait for smash bros when it is unveiled at E3 this summer.

in all, great presentation and so much to look forward to!

that was really good! a few surprises. people might have been annoyed about the wii U V.C, but these game announcements made up for it.

looks like a mixture of super mario galaxy and marble madness with a touch of 3D sonic as well but it's very inventive and original.

@pinta_vodki virtua cop 4 would be ideal for the wii U because of the touchscreen on the gamepad. so definitely, i hope they make this happen.

square enix hasn't been a great company since the 90s, just like with capcom. all they mainly release is final fantasy games every year.

it's not just HMV that has been hit- play.com has been affected as well.
the government has closed a loophole meaning they can't sell DVDs, games VAT free from the channel islands.

i also think platinum should release anarchy reigns and vanquish on the eshop as well.

@Gamesake i'm thinking on the same lines as that as well.

i don't care if it's nintendo or sega, but putting the first game on the eshop would be great. especially for those of us who don't own a PS3, 360 and a copy of the first game. if they did this, i'm sure plenty of people will be interested in downloading it.

nice one! add sega saturn and dreamcast games and you're done.

if only nintendo of america and europe did the same for 3DS owners in the west, as they'd do in native japan. nonetheless, again nintendoomed? yeah right. so doomed when the 3DS is still performing well in their home country.

i don't know if they will listen after the shenanigans of last year and this year- they were great in the 80s and 90s but not now. i want them to support the 3DS, wii U and give us games that aren't just streetfighter, resident evil. final fight, power stone, rivals schools 3, darkstalkers sequels, as well as captain commando and a really solid bionic commando game to name.

monster hunter ultimate was a good surprise, but we want more.

mother series in 3D for the 3DS, wii U would be awesome to see! some glad that creator Itoi has plans for the franchise. there are people outside of japan who want to play this game. i would be ecstatic if a mother game was announced next year at E3 or on nintendo direct!

is it going to look exactly like the master system game, or will it have proper 3D graphics of today?

i always thought with the characters they have in this game like ken, ryu, chun li from streetfighter, megaman, tekken, virtua fighter ones too that it would attract a much bigger following in the west, than in its native japan.

but yes, this game need to be localised- i'm sure if that happened, there will lots of people interested in this turn-based RPG game.

this is awesome news! also, the DS overtaking the gameboy is also remarkable. that system had so many great games, i never thought it would be beaten in terms of sales, if you asked me 3 or 4 years ago if this would happen.

but it is an incredible achievement.

wiiware titles have been a hit and miss affair, mostly a miss, but this one looks promising.

i wonder if the amazing sales of the 3DS in japan may have a lot to do with the likes of animal crossing and fire emblem: awakening doing well in the software charts too. but that is incredible- it may not be selling as much outside of japan, yet it's doing so well in the mother land.

i was on the fence before this review and after reading it, i'm not getting it. had it been an eshop title, at a cheaper, affordable price than maybe. other than that, i'll pass.

hoping for more news on monster hunter 3 ultimate, pikmin 3, wonderful 101 and bayonetta 2, as well as footage from those games. i'd love it if nintendo mentioned something about the rumoured yoshi wii U game. as for 3DS, fire emblem: awakening, animal crossing new leaf, fantasy life.

after the yoshi fruit cart mini game in nintendo land, this could be a sign that it will happen. i'd love to see a yoshi platform game- be it yoshi's island 3 or anything.

all the ones people have mentioned plus, legendary starfy and adventures of lolo- both HAL labs properties and famicom detective club, probably renamed the wii U detective club or something. also that unicycle game from the SNES, uniracers would be great too!

i love fighting games a lot so it's good to see this get a good score. hopefully injustice gods gets a good mark as well. this should keep me busy until virtua fighter, soul calibur, dead or alive, smash bros comes out.

reminds me of house of the dead. i'll pick this up but i'll wait until the price drops next year.
