metroid's anniversary falls on the 6th of august. i'm not keeping my hopes up but if nintendo has something planned to commemorate the 30th anniversary, that would be great. although new metroid games for the 3DS, wii U announced on E3 by nintendo would make up for that.
had kid icarus: uprising been released on the wii, it would've been one of the greatest wii games. i agree with the sin and punishment comparison- the game was reminiscent to K.I: uprising in many respects.
let's hope a new kid icarus game comes out on the wii U. i could definitely see the controller being utilised to its fullest, but also add a custom control scheme as well, so players can alter the controls to suit their playing needs.
if this game is going to be that tech demo and will look exactly as it is, i hope nintendo makes some improvements to it. i like it but to others, it sounds like they are playing it safe with this one. seeing as the wii U won't launch until november, they have now up until that time to chop and change and add a few things to make sure it becomes an amazing mario game.
i guess i was one of the few that enjoyed new super mario bros wii- it reminded me a lot of super mario 1-3, which is why i enjoyed it a great deal.
i don't mind if it is a galaxy or NSMB type game- hell, even combine a mixture of both would be good to see. either way, whatever miyamoto cooks up will be really special.
@NintenHero i'm on team sega as well. mainly as it has the virtua fighter characters and ulala from space channel 5. as for sonic & tails, well one can say the same for namco and why they didn't put pacman in this.
remember, the article states that sega, namco and capcom will add more characters, and so this list isn't completely final.
as soon as i saw the names akira yuki and pai chan from virtua fighter and tekken's jin and ling xiaoyu in that list, i was excited. OMG, really good set of characters, with more to come.
i expected it to be a one-on-one fighting game, but alas, i'll take this. the combat system does sound very much like the one in the fire emblem: awakening game.
disappointing. but i still think a resident evil game wil be on the wii U, so it's not a matter of will there be one, but when will there be one. likewise capcom, i prefer the capcom of the 90s than today. at least back then they were creative and didn't just rely on streetfighter games but other franchises too. megaman, rival schools, darkstalkers to name.
The real cost of the console, if $180 is the cost of components, will be very close to the $300. And remember, that's the retail price, not the price in which Nintendo sells these things to retailers (usually retailers get a couple of points margin on console hardware sales). >>
but of course. at $299/ £299 that sounds more realistic.
i think what nintendo is doing is keeping the production costs low, but not too low. the system will be powerful than the wii, yet many of us are worried about things such as the cost of the wii U console itself.
under $300/£300 is good> over $300/£300 would potentially be a disaster for nintendo. as well as the costs of the games, i also would want to know how much that controller will cost on its own.
if it is true in that the production costs of the wii U are only $180 and it goes on to retail for say $299, £299 in the U.K, 299€, then it goes to show that nintendo does know how to make a next gen console -and yet still keep to their budget, in order to make it as affordable as they can for their consumers and fans.
if nintendo are going to court more ex- video game company employees, especially from sega, then i think they should get the creator of virtua fighter, Yu Suzuki next.
that way perhaps, nintendo may get a new fighting game to rival the likes of streetfighter, tekken, dead or alive.
those special games show exactly how inventive nintendo are and in putting extra twists to the tennis concept. i thought the super mario bros, N.E.S level and the ones you have to hit the ball for it to go through the rings were brilliant.
i'm glad this isn't going to be your average tennis video game, as it'll have stuff in it, which will make it more playable, enjoyable and accessible for non-tennis fans but of whom are fans of the mario games.
activision are also making battleship, also due out on the wii, based on the movie that is coming out in a few weeks. so, it seems men in black isn't the only game of this type coming out on the console.
that pic says it all really. but again, good to see the 3DS doing well over there. hope that Hatsune Miku And Future Stars Project Mirai gets localised in the west later this year.
i really hope the sales of this game help SEGA considering the financial troubles they are having at the moment. they need a hit on their hands, and this one might be it.
the concept looks imaginative, original and fun. can't wait to pick this up!
@sc100 The fact is, millions of people like me will continue to buy Nintendo's systems regardless of the third-party support because Nintendo offers a gaming experience you can't get anywhere else. >>
i think if nintendo does a SEGA and become a third party developer and stop making consoles, i will be worried they will turn out just like them.
and remember, SEGA have been struggling lately. have you seen reports of them cutting development costs, cancelling games and scaling down staff because they haven't made enough money? that could happen if nintendo becomes third party.
@Koops3 re: Does anyone else notice that Nintendo and Tecmo Koei have quite a relationship Nintendo helped make games like Spirit Camera, and Samurai Warriors Samurai Warriors, Dynasty Warriors, and Dead or Alive have 3DS exclusive titles ? >> yes and team ninja, who developed metroid: other M is part of the tecmo koei division.
really terrific news and i'm happy the DS is still getting support. that's good to see.
the wii U has to be more powerful than the wii. however, nintendo is and has always been about characters and gameplay over graphics. having great graphics is one thing but if you don't have innovative gameplay then that won't count very much.
so perhaps when comparing it to the wii, it has to be more powerful. but third party support is crucial. the wii U has to have that in place and developers have to make the most out of the development kits and hardware they got from nintendo last year. the wii has done tremendously well, but the lack of good 3rd party games was telling and so many major developers shunned the system in favour of the PS3, X-box.
developers need to not compare the specs of the wii U to the PS3, X-Box but rather use those development kits and focus on making great quality wii U games.
@booker_steve streetfighter x tekken x virtua fighter sounds more plausible. whereas soulcalibur as @mamp said is more of a weapons- style fighting game.
my guess is it is a fighting game, which i'd be up for.
could we be seeing final fantasy , phantasy star , as well as xenoblade and last story sequels on the wii U ultilising the MMO ? would be interesting to see how this works.
the truth will come out at E3 by nintendo themselves and when it does, i will find out. the wii U has to be more powerful than the wii and i'd be fine with that, never mind be as powerful as PS3, 360.
at the end of the day, it is the games and third party support that does justice to a console. so far, nintendo have got some really interesting titles: darksiders, toki tori, aliens, assassins creed to name.
so it's not power, it's games that matter for me, and the more quality games on show, then the better.
irrespective of how less powerful the wii U could be.
seems that geist is a game that divides people- some enjoy it, others not as much. i'd be up for a new geist game, providing they work hard to make sure it is better than the first one.
@hydeks definitely. i'd be in favour of that! if i was in iwata's shoes, i'd make it happen.
2 former arch rival video game companies working together for one another. and nintendo with their years of success can steer SEGA in the right direction. and even make some of their less successful franchises more successful and create even better games too!
people will say nintendo don't have enough money to buy out SEGA, but they do. they probably have billions in the bank, if you combine sales from japan, north america and europe of their consoles and games.
i am a bit worried now that the rumoured sonic and SEGA all-star racing 2, which might hit the 3DS and wii U may not go into production. i hope it hasn't been scrapped.

@Capt_N yeah but sadly with wii ware and DSI ware, there are lots of shovelware on those services. such as this game.
Re: Titanic Mystery Sails Onto Wii and DS
i'm guessing this game will get a low score. maybe 5 or less.

funny review this was too! make me giggle!

but seriously, this sounds cool.
Re: Miyamoto: "F-Zero Could Work on Wii U"
make a new F-zero game for the wii U and get SEGA on board to help out. i thought they did a really good job of F-zero GX for the gamecube.
Re: Project X Zone Screens Burst Out
i have no problem whatsoever with the sprites and the graphical style of this game. does every 3DS game have to have 3D graphics? no, not at all.
i like the look of the characters and can't wait to see more of the screenshots. at the end of the day, it's the gameplay that matters.
