@CaPPa even though the wii is underpowered compared to the PS3, X-box 360, it would've been still nice to see some games from SEGA.
it's not that many of us nintendo fans hate SEGA completely, what with the whole Nintendo vs SEGA rivalry; i.e. SEGA does what Nintendon't tagline of the 90s.
it's just that ever since they became a 3rd party developer, we expected a lot from them for nintendo consoles, and wii, DS-wise, but SEGA just hasn't delivered. me personally, i'm a fan of SEGA's because they have some great franchises. however, decisions and business-wise with things such as their hardware and software titles, they're more naive and worse than nintendo.
'The publisher hasn't stated which games will be cancelled '
for one, i do think SEGA needs to stop making those games based on hit super hero movies for example, because most of them aren't good and focus on their other titles, but also not put so much emphasis on sonic. i know he is their chief mascot, but their other franchises deserve as much respect as the blue hedgehog.
@Shworange and to a lesser extent SNK, who became SNK playmore although in truth as the neo geo was ridiculously expensive back then, they priced themselves out of the console market.
i just wonder what if nintendo did the unthinkable and bought SEGA out. what would happen then?
btw, i do think SEGA were naive not to put sonic generations on the wii, just because they said they wanted to make an HD game. sonic colors sold well ,so i don't understand why they didn't take a chance with sonic generations.
it's a shame what is happening to SEGA. though i hope they don't stop making bayonetta, virtua fighter, shenmue games to name. they're also my second favourite games developer behind nintendo, in spite of many of their IPs today which i have to say are no where of the calibre of streets of rage, outrun, shinobi.
the economy has been terrible recently but i think once everything is stabilised, they'll be ok. i hope they are that is.
i still think this is one of the most interesting titles on the 3DS. definitely different to all the other games released. good news for us in europe where it is out next week, but not so good for those in north america.
this needs to be released on the wii U. it's looks so impressive. but it's really good to see developers seeing potential in the wii U. i don't believe it will experience the same fate as the wii because i think the wii U will have less shovelware.
i think the more quality third party support for the console, the better.
the japanese can be a strange lot indeed: 'If I Were in a Sealed Room with a Girl I'd Probably XXX'..... well the rest i leave up to your imagination!
Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition looks great anyway-so glad it is doing well. Hatsune Miku and Future Stars Project Mirai is very interesting as well. it's unlikely those games as well as get localised in the west, but if they do manage to get localised, that would be brilliant.
well music and TV today are not as good as it was 20 years ago. same applies with movies- i haven't bought or seen any of the recent films on DVD or in the cinema. video games have boomed due to the mobile market, as well as the continuous sales of the wii, DS, 3DS to name.
i was interested.... up until they mentioned paying $20, so it's a no from me. shame really because this is such a great opportunity for games fans to pitch in with their own ideas.
put out special editions such as mario, zelda, metroid, donkey kong, smash bros,.
i agree the design and look of the wii U is important, but it's the games that do justice. it needs proper 3rd party support and games, something that the wii lacked and lacks. if the wii U has that, and it is at an affordable price, then i'd care less what the console looks like.
glad to see gaijin supporting nintendo like this. oh and bit.troid sounds very intriguing. it will be interesting how this one turns out, if it gets developed.
the game seems to have got a few mixed reviews so far, but this is arguably one of the far better reviews for the game.
i sincerely hope this isn't the one and only time we see pit- would love to see a kid icarus game on the wii U with even greater graphics and a better control scheme that fully utilises the wii U's touchscreen functionalities.
@Chriiis it has been a while since we got a golden sun game. but i'd be welcome to a new game, be it on the 3DS or wii U.
@shonenjump86 yes, i read about darkstalkers- i was excited about that announcement. i hope capcom brings it to the wii U, not just the 360 and PS3/PS vita. and streets of rage of one of my favourite beat em' ups, as well as SEGA franchises. would be cool to see streets of rage 4.
i think there was a forum post in the wii U section on less known games you want to see on the wii U or something. there were lots of interesting suggestions and ideas.
i'd love to see new viewtiful joe, darkstalkers, rival schools from capcom, fighting vipers, jet set radio from SEGA, as well as star tropics, earthbound, f-zero and golden sun to name but many.
i've never been a fan of awards ceremonies, so the fact nintendo won nothing doesn't worry me. as long as they stll have the fanbase, which they still do, that's all that matters.
i like the idea of playing SNES, genesis/megadrive games on the go, so this will be very practical. i'd wait for the price to drop though before considering picking this one up.
@erv nintendo would need to open a nintendo world store in london i think.
last i read GAME have found a buyer- if this turns out to be true, i do hope things will improve for that store and by means of stocking more wii , DS and 3DS titles.
of course it's not always good to have ports of games from other systems for the wii U. however, good support meaning quality games is better than good support of the wii U by means of shovelware, which isn't good.
this sounds promising to me, even if this is the type of game i wouldn't play myself.
yet another solid week for downloads in europe. great line-up. kid icarus, megaman X and samurai shodown are brilliant titles, whereas DoA is a really good 3D fighter.
if you haven't got DoA: dimensions and you are still wary of whether to buy this, it may be worth playing a bit of the demo.
off-topic, i've seen the trailer for dead or alive 5 - all i can say is whilst i have stated i'm not a massive DoA fan, i love fighting games in general and i love the new character redesign. team ninja got rid of those doll-looking faces for something that looks realistic and similar looking as tekken 6 and virtua fighter 5FS.
would like to see DoA 5 ported to the 3DS, wii U sometime.
a really good game, letdown by the lack of a map. other than that, this is the first game of the series and the first one that made me fall in love with the metroid franchise.
the remake zero mission however is a much bigger improvement in many respects- from the character, level design and it's arguably less- if not too less linear than the original game.
@md1500 re: The thing is, Nintendo themselves never made shovelware. Even their casual games had a level of effort put into them. >>
i agree. it's just that nintendo decided to green-lit those awful 3rd party shovelware titles. however, nintendo's casual games did have some play-ability to them, which is no bad thing. examples include warioware and the recent rhythm heaven fever.
I blame the third-parties. The most popular console always attracts companies wanting to make a quick buck - just look at some of the dire games released on the PS2 (most popular last gen), for example. >>
the wii was and is underpowered compared to the PS3, x box but it doesn't give third party developers an excuse to put out crap games for the wii. but unfortunately they did do that. which is why i'm more optimistic for the wii U because i think in terms of games, there will be more quality titles supporting it.
nonetheless, if you look past all the crap, the wii does have some stellar games- sin and punishment star successor, kirby's return to dreamland, LoZ skyward sword, metroid other M, smash bros brawl, super mario galaxy 2, donkey kong country returns to name but a couple.
i'd like to see SNK vs Capcom: SVC chaos, last blade, twinkle stars sprites, top hunter: roddy and cathy on the V.C. games that haven't been on the SNK classics volume one game.

Re: Gearbox: "No Other Platform Can Do What Wii U Can"
@kyuubikid213 yeah, i like the sound of that. would work for this game, as well as a metroid game that is similar to the prime series.

Re: Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Confirmed for Western Release
this is a really intriguing concept for final fantasy and i'm glad square enix decided to make this one, instead of porting over FF 13.
like rhythm thief, this is one rhythm based game i'm keeping my eyes on.
Re: Intelligent Systems Rejected Modern-Day Fire Emblem Idea
@NintenHero final fantasy jumped the shark from final fantasy 8 onwards for me. but fire emblem should remain as a traditional standing RPG.
storylines may change yes, but not the format for the series.
Re: Talking Point: Why Wii U's Image Must Grab Attention
have the wii U in different colours
put out special editions such as mario, zelda, metroid, donkey kong, smash bros,.

Re: GAME Group Files for Administration
this is sad. it now makes me contemplate on whether another retail video game store will be open for business and stock the games people want.
all we have now is HMV and supermarkets, but even they themselves don't stock the full range of games for the wii, DS as well as many 3DS exclusives.
Re: Intelligent Systems Rejected Modern-Day Fire Emblem Idea
it makes me wonder whether we'll ever see ike again.

thank you SEGA!
Re: Feature: The Life and Times of SEGA's Game Gear
@ecco6t9 agreed
Re: Feature: The Life and Times of SEGA's Game Gear
i think that if it had used less batteries and had better 3rd party support, then the game gear would've been as successful as the gameboy.
it did have a few gaming gems though. nonetheless, finally we can play these game gear titles on the V.C service, thanks to sega.
