Re: Guide: Pokémon GO Halloween Event - 2019 Event Info and 'A Spooky Message' Spiritomb Quest Walkthrough

@Dizzymario I guess Yamask is a death mask, Cofagrigus is a sarcophagus - both are burial items associated with ancient Egypt, and the smaller of the two evolves into the later. To be fair, all elements of the Yamask design (shadowy hands, face, red eyes) are reused in Cofagrigus and both are overtly Ancient Egyptian in design.

It is one of those designs that you could see having a cut middle stage though, it's quite a dramatic change!

@Heavyarms55 Better late than never! We're trying to improve our provision for GO content in general as well as updating some of the lapsed guides.

I feel like Whismur spawns are an unfortunate casualty of the recent special events. Hopefully they'll be back to normal when the regional hatching event ends in a few hours = though of course, Gen 5 will be in the mix too!

Re: Introducing Pokémon Home, A New Cloud Service Compatible With Switch And Mobile Devices

Bizarrely, 28 May was the exact date my current Pokemon Bank subscription expired. When I saw there was a new service announced this morning got a little worried I'd just renewed for no reason - remains to be seen whether that's the case.

Got to say, whether you call it Home or Bank, the service should 100% be a Nintendo Switch Online bonus going forward. It's cloud saving with a fancy name.

@Aneira @pbb76 Hi guys - this is the intention of saying "worst excesses". The game is undeniably repetitive by design, but it is my opinion (and honestly, not without some surprise considering that my reaction to pre-release media was similar to your own) that this repetition is not detrimental to the overall experience. "Looks repetitive in video" doesn't have a lot of bearing on how a game feels to play, basically.

Furthermore, layouts are reused for maybe 4 or 5 of the 15 exploration floors in a quest level. I mention this as feeling like a problem in the early game - though the proportion of reuse is technically the same, it becomes less noticeable because when you've seen hundreds of floors, older ones start to become less easy to recall.

i will say, I am anticipating some takes being harsher than this when they emerge from other outlets. I had the luxury of playing the game over about 2 weeks and it starts to get less fun the more you try to burn through quest levels to just get things done. May be more difficult to have fun and evaluate the full game on a tighter deadline.

Re: Rumour: Sumo Digital's New Kart Racer Focuses Solely On Sonic And Friends

If this was about just the tracks, maybe I could get behind it. Not to say that the tracks in the last game were terrible - in many cases they were excellent - but as a product it did feel a little bit of a jumble sale of old stuff. Furthermore, there's plenty of interesting material in the Sonic back catalogue to build interesting tracks out of.

But character wise... I'm less sure that I want to be stuck in a game with that lot. And I bet any group of four people gathered around a TV will struggle to find four Sonic characters they particularly feel strongly about.

@Mijzelffan The 'browser = hackers' explanation seems clever at first glance, but doesn't make an ounce of sense. The browser is effectively already in there in such a way that anyone with an agenda is going to be able to exploit it if it can be exploited. It's not like hackers are booting up their switches and going "oh fiddlesticks, there's no browser icon! Better go back to getting Doom to run on a thermostat!"

Re: Editorial: Pricing Blunders Have Distorted The Narrative Around Nintendo Switch

I can live with the console price - the pricing of software and accessories is what has kept me from pre-ordering. Especially the accessories: building a halfway workable collection of Wii U accessories was excessively expensive, and honestly a little confusing (fun fact: the full Wii U controller compatibility chart was the fourth language on the Rosetta Stone). I'm not ready to slap down similar money to get even less.

Knowing how inflexible Nintendo is with software pricing, I just don't know whether I have the will to constantly price watch to get games at something approaching the £30 I'm comfortable with paying for games. £50 to £60 isn't just competing with other game pricing, or nights out or entertainment. It's competing with the train fare to go and see friends and family for the weekend, for instance. So it's come to this Nintendo: you've made me feel old af.

Regarding GB/GBC compatability: Track down Goomba Color. It's an extra layer of inconvenience on a flashcart you're specifically buying for convenience's sake, but it's better than nothing. Means you can play on the GB Micro too.
