@DarkKirby Grind heavy levels? There was grinding?
Stale combat? Were we playing the same game? Teamups with altering partners and bonuses, trying for crit after crit, whether to go for damage or fill up your guage! It wasn't too deep as far as tactic games go, but it was fun!
Another thing to consider... would this content exist without amiibo? Was the extra dungeon made based on expected revenue from amiibo sales? That throws everything for a loop really.
Then the question would be, would you prefer an amiibo locked dungeon, or no dungeon at all?
Unfortunately, there is no way to know if this was the case, because what do you think nintendo would say presented with this rhetoric?
@Ichiban It's really no different sounding than in the psone snd ps2 era when having data from a previous game on your memory card gave you something awesome in sequels. Look at the ratchet clank games, or suikoden 2.
The crossover content through a physical device is nothing new.
@Dr_Corndog Yeah, the software industry isn't a shining example of how to do things right, it's probably the worst thing ever, and keeps getting worse, and not just for consumers, but everyone in the industry
Y'know, this isn't nintendo's first instance of physically locked content, or PLC.
Gamecube games like the prime games had content locked behind linking to a GBA cart, no? Crystal chronicles had multiplayer locked behind link cables and gba's.
DS games also had content locked based on having GBA carts, like mega man zx, where you could battle pseidoroids from mmz3 and 4. All those features were already on the cart/disc, right?
Wind waker had multiplayer and tingle related stuff locked behind gba and gamecube adapter paywall, right? I mean, you had to buy a GBA and the mostly useless link cable to access it! How much were the gcn adapters back in the day?
Oot had rumble pack content, majoras mask required the expansion pak, wind waker required a freakin' gba and gamecube adapter. Come to think of it, this os kinda a signature for the zelda games, to have a feature you can't enjoy without some expendive accessory! In majora's mask, it was the game itself. And these accessories were mostly useless in most games, and had very limited functionality. Didn't the oracles games have some gb camera content?
@Token_Girl There's a difference in complaining with words, and complaining with your wallet. A lot of people complain, but still spend the cash. The loudest and best way to complain is to deny nintendo money... but also make sure you complain loudly so they hopefully understand why.
Like with the overpriced digital wii games. We don't buy it, they assume no one likes the game probably.
Anyway, there'd probably be an amiibo line of game that would get you onboard. Imagine pokemon style amiibo battles with random nintendo characters. Wouldn't take much work, you can assemble a small team to challenge friends!
I got caught up in amiibo, and plan on getting wolf link anyway, but even still, the locked content is just wrong. Amiibo don't provide too much value now, but as more games are released, they get more functionality. Of course people get mad now, because they're new, and few games have put them to any use, and some have very few games that use them!
Also, didn't wind waker have some physically locked content involving a link cable and gba? Ironic huh?
I think a good solution is digital amiibo. Let us buy cheaper "amiibo" that are linked to our account that we can "scan".
In chibi robo, the game is incomplete without the amiibo, large amounts of content are attached to it. The amiibo is essentially part of the game, and I don't understand why it was sold without it. Digital gamers are screwed, because there is no bundle for them, and chibi robo amiibo wasn't offered alone for a long time in the west!
I think aesthetic bonuses and music or silly easter eggs are good for standard games, like if link's sword changed based on amiibo, but just skin, or characters based on amiibo appeared just to say something funny, or daily lottos for rupees would work well for TPHD.
I think physically locked content are good for games built around the amiibo experience. This mario and friends game seems like a good example. Gove us a link's crossbow training game based around amiibo! Courses based on amiibos worlds, or arrow upgrades, etc.
I think nintendo needs to make an amiibo line of games, and put aesthetic bonuses in normal games as fun stuff for people who have amiibo.
@Xenocity Except that zero mission is probably the most requested vc game every week on nl's us nintendo update.
Doesn't matter about score and critical acclaim, europe and japan have had it forever, and every other metroid game aside from hunters and pinball are available on the VC. Just to complete the collection on your wiiU makes it worthwhile.
@TheLobster You see though, volunteering in the community is something I support and have even suggested!
It's not charity itself that I take issue with, it's "non-profit" businesses.
A vendetta? Care to put into words what this vendetta is? Troll? Common buzz words used online to dismiss those with differing views, or was it the over 9000 joke that made me appear incredulous?
@Maxz A lot of what you say makes sense. Someone's hurt, you take them to the doctor, because you're unqualified. But if you mother was injured, you would probably (hopefully) do some research on the doctors credentials. And you certainly wouldn't take your mother to the vet, now would you?
Just look at the first comment! "Amazing ^^. I really hope all the money will help to make a good difference to cancer patients"
This is the image PCF projects, like pink ribbon and save the tattas, and looking at their financial records, just take a look at the link to their site, look at what nearly 2 mil is spent on. Would you take your mother to a band of gypsies for medical treatment? I would hope not. PCF may have done some good, but for the most part, they're swindlers. Founder makes over 300k and board of directors are volunteer workers, and make no income wink wink
Actually, I'm don't care about who benifits from the marathon, they can do whatever they like, they provide entertainment for money, they could keep it for all I care, my issue is with charity organizations like this one, and peoples lazy "slacktivism", but mostly the charities themselves.
AGDQ are doing what they love and people support it, like you said, regardless of chariy involvement.
But to praise these scumbag "non-profit"s really bothers me.
And people's halfheartedness disheartens me. There are people who go out and do something. If I found something to actually care about, I'd hope I would too, but people feeling good pretending to care is disgusting.
"Give me a civilisation in which people make active efforts to sort out a societal issues over one in which we're reduced to a bunch of bitter, carping contrarians who are more interested in pointing out how they see The Truth than constructively doing ANYTHING for the betterment of anyone."
Well, truth is in our perception, and if one believes he knows the truth, is not sharing that truth to the betterment of all? At least from his perspective? Should he not strive to inform others in that which he believes to be true? Particularly when he believes that truth will better everyone?
If one person at checkout whom is asked to donate $1 to some generic charity decides to stop using social media for 5 minutes to look up what that charity actually does, then I'll have done something.
I mean, I got 3 and a half naysayers so far, two of which I don't necessarily disagree with and are arguing against something I don't actually claim, though responses may be pending, and I don't really understand that one other commenter said, and then I'm not even sure what you're up in arms about, but you do concede points. Hardly persecuted, nor entirely rejected. I just don't sugar coat and tend to question things.
Messiah? I'm just saying stop pretending to care, and do some homework. I offer no salvation (perhaps the opposite). Only criticisms.
@TheLobster No, I don't mock prevention and detection, I mock the 1.2million+ used to advocate it. Also, they fund research, research on how to live healthy and better screening methods.
Also, obviously you didn't bother to check the link. 3 x over 300k. The reportable amount (the amount she has to tell uncle sam about) is 274k, plus about 64k in other organizational funds, well that just about seems to add to something that multiplied by 3, is over 9000.
Also, you aren't required to report all income, and some is untracable, cash is king afterall. There are plenty of ways to avoid taxes and report less than you make. Like companies never do illegal unscrupulous things... like selling mentally handicapped kids their own food back!
They don't provide screenings or actual prevention for high risk individuals though.
They do some good... not THAT much good and obviously have everyone fooled that they help cancer patients
@Senario "Live like they do in the less developed world where people have been living to a healthy age of 90+ cancer free!"
Not third world, just less developed. The conditional where clause suggests specifically those places where people do live to 90+ cancer free.
I know plenty of south american immigrants who are in their 90's. Their bodies are failing, but no cancer. Their kids who were born and raised here though... different stories.
Also, doctors perform x-rays, which are unhealthy... thus why they gtfo when they do. Pink ribbon for breast cancer awareness recommended mamograms (for women over 40 fine print) and exposing yourself to them could very well cause cancer.
@Maxz It's more a criticism of misleading charities than anything else. but you know, I personally don't care about helping people with cancer, but at least I'm honest. Donors pretend, but when it comes down to it, they do nothing.
You really care about people with cancer? Go figure out who these scientists are! Go do some research! Go volunteer and make someone who has cancer's life a little bit more bearable! Find someone who has cancer and fundraise for their treatment!
Sure, you care, you throw money at it but don't want to look at it. Like the parent who claims to love their child but pays someone else to raise it.
Just foing it half-heartedly. If your best friend is crying, do you pay someone else to console them? If they have a fever, do you donate to a fever prevention awareness charity? If your parents are going blind, do you use that as an excuse to make a blindness awareness charity to make 1/3 of a million a year? Actually, doesn't sound too bad. You can buy them bionic eyes or something with that kind of money.
Too bad the lady's father already died from cancer... that one million in 3 years would have probably allowed him to survive.
Besides, if it came down to it, if I dropped a name, would you really send him money? Would he take the money and retire? Would you do any significant research to make sure he's not a crackpot? Nobody cares about people with cancer. People only care about their loved ones with cancer.
And cynical? What is the optimist view? I presented plenty of evidence that the charity doesn't accomplish $1.2mil worth of good. What optimistic view is there? At least people mean well? Not their fault they gave money for a cause in which they knew nothing about and didn't bother to ask?
I know it's not pleasant to hear, but the truth hurts. The ugly truth. We usually cast a blind eye. Civilization couldn't continue if we collectively didn't
Founder Carolyn R. Aldige makes over 300k a year! Wow, I think I wanna start a charity on video game addiction awareness! I'll be set for life! Millionaire in 3 years!
Not just blowing hot air. Props to games done quick for raising money for what they think is worthy cause, but looking at the financial breakdowns, a good bit goes to education, and a good bit of that goes to salaries and catering. Sounds like a splendid party was funded!
@Kimite I'm sorry, they specifically deal with prevention and detection, they don't actually help people who know they have cancer, asode from maybe not getting more cancer, or not knowing they have more cancer.
What a waste of money, they're like pink ribbon. They don't really DO anything, mostly just print pamphlets telling you to eat better and waste money at the doctors getting cancer inducing examinations. A whopping $1.2 million from a single donor and they can proudly say that they fund a measly 450 scientists.
But hey, you get that warm fuzzy feeling thinking you threw away money to do something good without leaving the comfort of your seat! Remember kids, non-profit doesn't mean someone isn't getting rich. The ceo is allowed to have a ceo salary, and bonuses to unscrupulous employees are allowed!
I know someone who worked at a goodwill life academy for the mentally disabled. They get a tax deductible donation from goodwill, and the principal gets a bonus based on how much they raise back under the table. They had a potluck, where all the parents brought food. The school kept the leftovers and sold it to the kids for lunch the next day.
Charity organizations are full of bull! You wanna help people, go out and actually do something for someone! Go fund an actual scientist who will study cures for cancer, not study how to prevent it! We know how to prevent cancer! Live like they do in the less developed world where people have been living to a healthy age of 90+ cancer free!
wall and bomb jumps would make this easily beatable up until you get screw attack, and depending which way it was rotated, might make some parts easier.
@Crono1973 well, as a major mega man fan, wiiU vc has been kind to me, but especially the 3DS vc, pretty much picked one up for MMV!
hoping for some DS Mega Man VC though!
yeah... I really REALLY don't get what they're thinking most of the time with VC, I mean, they have wii and DS VC now, why aren't they releasing the top games first? why not release beloved Zelda games that people would eat up and instead give us games no one really remembers like yoshi touch and go?
I'm sure some people are overjoyed to get that game... but come on, ZELDA! same goes for Wii VC, why not come out strong with more popular games? Prime trilogy was great, but why not skyward sword? I understand why no twilight princess, unless they're also working on a skyward sword rerelease with normal control options.
@Crono1973 because they realize that most of the oldest fans are fanboys that will buy the NX regardless, so they don't have to care.
they're probably holding on to the most beloved games for when they mess up to appease underwhelmed fans. zero mission is probably coming out alongside federation force and SMRPG will probably accompany paper jam or something. look, federation force is a sorry excuse for a metroid prime game... but at least you get zero mission now!
On ps3, sony sells ps2 games for $10! Even rare impossible to find games! PS1 games are generally $5, sometimes $10, and people think it's crazy for them to sell those games for $10! And those games go on sale all the time!
Nintendo though, feels like they're entitled to $10 for N64 games, same gen as PS1, and most of those games have never gone on sale!
@Wolfgabe Self entitled? All people are asking for is comparable service to what sony and microsoft gamers are getting, many of which put their faith in nintendo this gen.
Not even asking for steam level service, just at least as good as other regions.
Asking $20 for a digital wii game widely available new for cheaper physically is just plain disrespectful. It's cheating the customer, and they know it, what a grinch move.
We are the consumer, and we are ultimately paying the employee salaries for NoA. We already let it slide that there are no major games this christmas season, and that the console has like 5 titles period for any given person not available for less or with more elsewhere. The console can't even usually hold those 5 games digitally either! We cut nintendo so much slack already! Who do you think NoA works for? Their job is to get us to buy Nintendo stuff.
Entitled? We are entitled! We bought their dang consoles! We have the right to make demands, because it's in their best interest to please their dwindling consumer base! I mean, in terms of wiiU, there aren't even that many of us! It shouldn't be that hard!
Because if NoA keeps this up, people will wait for the NX and may just go sony or MS!
@roboshort Yes, but the multiplayer for splatoon probably doesn't stand out too much compared to multiplayers of other games. There is more than just the shooter genre!
Loved the game, but the camera is terrible and the kirbys sometimes will just do whatever they want. When faced with an edge of the screen with danger just over it, you have to put your kirbys in harm's way to get the camera to move.
Klunky and unresponsive at times, but still a lot of fun. Canvas curse was just as good if not better, with slicker controls.
Both could easily be smart phone games. I don't see how this gets a 7 and canvas curse gets a measly 5!
2.3 million people got to see how boring it was. Not worth watching IMO. Recaps on important info more worthwhile.
And sorry, splatoon doesn't deserve best multiplayer, especially compared to everything else out there. Steam counts too, right? Obviously fixed award for some needed advertising.
Nintendo doesn't do online multiplayer too well, so by what criteria would it win best multiplayer? Having less standard online multiplayer features than everyone else?
Too vague an award for a game that really doesn't deserve it in any way.
Sure, splatoon is fresh and new, but it's not the best thing to happen to the genre ever!

Re: North America Gets a Project X Zone 2 Demo on 26th January
@DarkKirby
Oh, okay, grinding as in levels were tedious with too many enemies that took too much time.
I dunno, I enjoyed it... but are SRPG games supposed to switch things up in the course of the game?
Shoot, most games have the same basic combat system from beginning to end, don't they?
Re: North America Gets a Project X Zone 2 Demo on 26th January
I'll be getting this game soley for X's inclusion. Maybe one day, capcom will put him in a real fighting game

Grind heavy levels? There was grinding?
Stale combat? Were we playing the same game? Teamups with altering partners and bonuses, trying for crit after crit, whether to go for damage or fill up your guage! It wasn't too deep as far as tactic games go, but it was fun!

Live like they do in the less developed world where people have been living to a healthy age of 90+ cancer free!

wall and bomb jumps would make this easily beatable up until you get screw attack, and depending which way it was rotated, might make some parts easier.

umm... this is old news?
Re: Nintendo Download: 24th December (North America)
@Crono1973
well, as a major mega man fan, wiiU vc has been kind to me, but especially the 3DS vc, pretty much picked one up for MMV!
hoping for some DS Mega Man VC though!
Re: Nintendo Download: 24th December (North America)
@Crono1973
because they realize that most of the oldest fans are fanboys that will buy the NX regardless, so they don't have to care.
they're probably holding on to the most beloved games for when they mess up to appease underwhelmed fans. zero mission is probably coming out alongside federation force and SMRPG will probably accompany paper jam or something. look, federation force is a sorry excuse for a metroid prime game... but at least you get zero mission now!
Re: Nintendo Download: 24th December (North America)
@SteamedOddish
They didn't go on sale on the wii either. 1st party Wii games were full price for years after release.
Same with wii vc games
Re: Nintendo Download: 24th December (North America)
On ps3, sony sells ps2 games for $10! Even rare impossible to find games! PS1 games are generally $5, sometimes $10, and people think it's crazy for them to sell those games for $10! And those games go on sale all the time!
Nintendo though, feels like they're entitled to $10 for N64 games, same gen as PS1, and most of those games have never gone on sale!
Re: Nintendo Download: 24th December (North America)
@Wolfgabe
Self entitled?
Oh, and Merry Christmas! Or Happy Christmas

Re: The Game Awards 2015 Was Viewed by 2.3 Million People
@roboshort
Yes, but the multiplayer for splatoon probably doesn't stand out too much compared to multiplayers of other games. There is more than just the shooter genre!
Re: The Game Awards 2015 Was Viewed by 2.3 Million People
@amiiboacid
I mean just for the 'best multiplayer' award.
Best shooter is debatable and it probably has a fair shot, but best multiplayer?
We're not looking at the sequels compared to predecessors, but compared to splatoon.
Re: Review: Kirby Mass Attack (Wii U eShop / DS)
I managed to 100 percent it, but man, that boss rush level was intense! Super surprised that I managed to scrape by with a gold medal!
Re: Review: Kirby Mass Attack (Wii U eShop / DS)
Loved the game, but the camera is terrible and the kirbys sometimes will just do whatever they want. When faced with an edge of the screen with danger just over it, you have to put your kirbys in harm's way to get the camera to move.
Klunky and unresponsive at times, but still a lot of fun. Canvas curse was just as good if not better, with slicker controls.
Both could easily be smart phone games. I don't see how this gets a 7 and canvas curse gets a measly 5!
Re: Nintendo Download: 10th December (North America)
yawn no zero mission again... surprise surprise...
Re: The Game Awards 2015 Was Viewed by 2.3 Million People
2.3 million people got to see how boring it was.
Re: Review: Kirby: Power Paintbrush (Wii U eShop / DS)
A little too easy of a game, having picked up and 100%ed a used copy about a year ago.
No way deserving a 5, the unique controls were very interesting and fun, as were the challenge modes!
Sure, could be a mobile game, but so what? It's still good!
Re: GAME Delays Shovel Knight amiibo Pre-Orders in the UK, Other Retailers Don't
@SanderEvers didn't the wii just get rodea sky soldier? And doesn't it get the latest sky landers games?

didn't splatoon win the award for best multiplayer?
Re: Video: FAST Racing NEO's Hero Mode Melts Further Faces with an F-Zero Twist
F zero gx at least only required you to get first in missions. The grand prix only required first in ranking.
I really hope that they include the first person view from gx! Playing fzero in first person was amazing!
