As an old man I always used to say that Snes used closed to 100% of its capacity... that even with 32 bit systems (and also a 64 - that is not Jaguar do the math -) and with a N64 at home, I thought "Wow, I want Lost Vikings 2... and Megaman and Bass, even this Fifa 98 would be good as a collector!".
It's funny because Snes in the end of its life had games that could be in a 32-bit system...
And 3DS is impressive, having games that could be on Wii (the classic one, that was not HD). Really, Nintendo 3DS Team seems to be used to live on the edge...
Hyrule Warriors, Super Mario Maker, Super Smash Bros are games above the limits of the hardware. Even the New Metroid and now Captain Toad are impressive.
Actually when you say "oh, he's just using the Nes to display, control (and also as power supply) the raspberry pi emulator" you should say "Holy poop!!!! He really did something to display/control/feed the raspberry pi through the NES Cart Slot! and it is amazing!"
This is not a drama. At least in my case: I have Mario Kart 8 for Wii U. I've bought Mario Kart 8 Deluxe because I still play it online and want to play it anywhere.
I have Splatoon for Wii U, but wanted to play Splatoon online anywhere, online (c'mon, the most important part of the game is the same... few improvements and a new mode).
But then...
Bayonetta 1/2: I finished this game in all different modes. Not gonna play again, don't need to play it "on the go".
Donkey Kong TF: Again, just finished this with 100% (or 200%), but I know that I'm not willing to play it all over again.
That's it.
Why we are crying? As Wii U supporters we wish we could play the whole library we bought for Wii U in the new portable system, but that's all.
Online game will have appeal for us. Bayonetta, DK, One Piece UWR, Hyrule Warriors, Pokken, if they were played in Wii U, they are games just for collectors.
Of course, Nintendo wants to charge these ports as a full price game... but it worked very very well with Mario Kart 8.
100 hours here, just before the final boss. (After killing the last boss I won't play for a while...)
The DLC, until the summer release, honestly, is garbage. Minor sidequests and "support items for your missions" are a new concept of quick cash (and it is not good).
Let's wait for dlc pack 3 and pack 5.

I'm old.
I played Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario Bros. 3.
Then I played Super Mario World. Blocks Switch Palaces. Ghost Houses, a thousand warp zones, secret levels and keys, sunken ship, star road.
I remember playing hours and hours in the world 3 (inside the moutain, cave style), and when I finished and reached world 4 it gave me a sensation of "thank god I can see the sun again".
Mario 64 was able to give a little bit of this sensation... like "excellent, not everything is like the real world, in 3D, but oh this water stage is perfect".
For the younger audience, who started playing in ps1 or n64 is a little bit hard to understand the feeling in the past.
Games without save state or password like Sonic, when you were in the last level it used to be pure adrenaline... something like "I'm visiting a place that I will not be present again so soon..."
Combat System is great. Xenoblade Chronicles, Xenoblade X were great. Bought XC2 yesterday, didn't stop playing, just completed 93 hours of game, without doing sidequests, just trying to raise my level. Cool man what a game.
Bethesda Script: Make a game so good for switch that even being a port, everyone will comment it is mandatory and it will sell a lot. Consider the user base of switch, and think that it will grow with your titles too, not just nintendo. Keep releasing great games that will impress everyone, without saying the Switch is underpowered to justify a weak development team.
Capcom Script: Let's release a low budget game, and expect it to be profitable. If it makes a lot of money, try releasing another old port. Keep doing the same thing. Re-release 8 bit collections. If any of them is not selling well, make an official statement saying that Nintendo customers don't buy Capcom products.
Ubisoft: It is always good to be friend of Nintendo.
EA: Try to do a good job with Switch to forget the past, and receive the same critics from the last generation.
The game looks great, does not look like a lazy port and it's not even close of being a crappy smartphone version. I was playing the PS4 version (the Demo version) then I compared to the Switch version. I think people were expecting a bad lazy port and now that we have a very good version they just can't say "Ok I'm wrong this version is good" and prefer to complain with nonsense things like the price or a missing feature that they wouldn't really care. If the person care so much about the alex hunter mode, it is going to get this for PC or PS4 or Xbone and will not spend a minute complaining about the Switch version.
But somehow I know that I'll be reading soon "it was a crap, they didn't announce GTA V for Nintendo Switch what a shame". "Hey UBI where is watch dogs 2 c'mon"
well...considering both sides, avoiding comparisons of BD and SD Cards, in my humble opinion, not being a Nintendo or Sony fanboy, and being aware of the differences, considering it a handheld or not, my unbiased view with no strings attached is that... well I just forgot what I was going to say. Many thanks for your attention.
@Roam85 Well, are you willing to pay 40 dollars for the FFXV Chibi version that will run like an Android game? Cause that's - exactly - the reason they tried to create a hype.
They were planning to release FFXV Pocket for Switch. They tried to tease saying about a FFXV game for a console that sounds like twitch... "let's see if we can create a hype for the game" and almost all comments were saying that a Pocket Edition for Switch would be a crap... For each person saying "I would love to buy for a full price the pocket edition" we were reading 10 comments saying that it would be an offense. So that's it... They created a hype, and now they are afraid of confirming that since the beginning they were thinking about the pocket edition, just an Android Lazy Port with bluetooth controller support.
People...please... IF NSW is going to receive a FF XV, it's going to be the Ported Android Version. Easy to port, and that's all.
Of course, I would prefer to have the original version running at 480p with low textures and less polygons, cause it would look nice in handheld mode... But it would take much more effort than just porting the Android version. About the baby graphics, you know the excuse: "Switch owners will like this kind of model".
The game is good. Sure. It seems the price is 40USD and60 CAD. I'm not so sure, but I thought 40USD would be around 50-52 CAD. Anyway, I'm passing this. Since I have this game on PC, Wii U, and PS Vita, it doesn't make sense to buy this one.
@westman98 Actually they will always compare to other platforms. It started with the classic Wii. But since Wii Marketing was all about wiimotes, people were not complaning about PS2 ports or very gimped ports. Since Wii U could have graphics a little better than PS3 (despite all the efforts to work with a different arch) people were expecting improved ports, and that happened only once, with Need for Speed... Mass Effect and Fifa were lazy ports. And Wii U was not selling well. Now it's a different situation... Nintendo Switch is a Nvidia console... with many people saying it has great dev tools... It is selling very well, but at the same time - the same companies - are using a new excuse: "Well, you know, there are many portable devices with better hardware... and we are working on a very nice version (lazy port) for a handheld (major excuse for not being close to ps4 and xb1)". The thing is...keeping this number of sales, soon Konami will consider a PES for Switch, maybe for the end of 2018. Then Fifa will not be just a gimped port. But defending EA's Press People they were never saying anything bad about Nintendo Switch. They avoided - a lot - saying it was underpowered or that it was just Fifa 17. Even because this is a new strategy for all these companies: Sell a game with all the latest options and features for PC/latest PS/latest XB, and make a good version for Switch as the "portable option". They are not trying to sell just for a single platform. Even Nintendo is not marketing Nintendo Switch as the only console you need to have.
The Graphics are nice. Really. The Loading time is big, but still enjoyable. I finished all tournaments before the major update (the online one), and it was only with 3 pointers. With the current balance of skills, probably it would be impossible to win with the same strategy (therefore, impossible to finish the game). But anyway, it's a funny game that it was worth buying. Here's a tip: Setup your match to finish when you score 10 points. You'll be able to raise your XP (and get new players) really fast.
@Rika_Yoshitake exactly. Basically "let's point everything that can be a problem" and about the good part, let's say "oh, it's a good hardware for a portable system, but this is irrelevant".
This interview is about his point of view. Many things are true, other things are just his distorted point of view. You can see with statements like "ohh...super mario mobile didn't sell well, or at least like they expected", but when someone tries to talk about pokemon, then "ohh pokemon is something so big that we can consider separated from nintendo".... That's just negativism. You know, we just have to take to another path: Nintendo releases a console with the same power of a PS4 Pro and XB1X, will sell less and compete in the same segment. Will sell less, but will have crap ports from these companies without any efforts. Good for then, bad for Nintendo. Then they'll say "Nintendo should go third party, you know..." or "Nintendo needs to make something different". And yes, a man that claims about goals and success is only able to point problems, not solutions (ok, not his work). He doesn't know about Switch specs (clearly). He says small cartridges are for "nintendo control" (not because it is portable... I guess he thinks it should have an external Bluray reader or use SD Cards maybe). Honestly, someone so negative about Nintendo should not spend a second with Oddworld for a Nintendo System. Even because - unfortunately - it would sell well for Switch today, while the console is living with 1st Party + Indies.
Friends of Platinum. If you are really working on a new Bayonetta game, PLEASE, do NOT make this using cel shading or any other anime style. Just keep the same existing style. Don't repeat the same mistake of Xenoblade developers.
Dude, I'm not sure about copyrights, distribution rights, bananas rights, anyway, but we had the GB Version in English, and Secret Of Mana for Snes in English too.
That means, they could release with these two versions in English, and the third one would be a bonus. But I know that it would be very complicated to say the title supports english without Secret of Mana 2...
Konami just lost an opportunity to release a PES version close to XB1 and PS4 (in game modes with little downgrades in graphics) and compete with Fifa. That's sad, not because they are not releasing a PES, but after good sales for a minigame like Bomberman, they have reasons to show a different position. Anyway, that's why I said EA was ok with its version of Fifa for Switch.
If the character was Link, and the history was a history like Legend of Zelda, with characters like Legend of Zelda, it would be 7.0/10, which is very good. But it's not. So, 6/10.
Sad reality.
Of course, this blacklist does not apply to every former employee, but it happens for sure with strategic employees. Also, it happens on North America, Europe...everywhere. The problem is that sometimes this former employee is not that bad guy than can create a company and compete with Konami and others, but it is blacklisted as a precaution act.
BGE2 will come to Switch, this Darksiders comparison video proves that Switch can run games released for PS4 and Xbox One.
And offer the best portable experience, as always.
Someone once said BG&E2 would be a Switch exclusive. Actually it's gonna be a multiplatform game, but Switch version is going to be exclusive. It's similar to Turok. It had a PC and N64 version, and an exclusive version for Gameboy Color. Of course, GBC was a little downgraded version, but still it had the same experience of Turok.
Ok, now seriously, switch will receive bge2 with the same version released for PS4 and XBOne, but it will be 720p, 30fps and some little (really little) downgrades. Saying Switch is "underpowered" sounds like it is a N64, but as we can see in Zelda BOTW, Mario Kart 8 (and now Arms, Skyrim, SM Odyssey) it is very possible to do a good job with famous games in Switch. The evolution from the last generation was minimal. BGE2 is a kind of game that, if the developers really wanted to (or needed to) could be released for PS3 and Xbox 360 offering the same experience. Just check Darksiders: Warmastered Edition... compare the Wii U and PS4 version. Of course, PS4 runs a lot better, but in other cases THQ would say "oh...we won't release for Wii U because it is soooo underpowered"....
That's the proof that Nintendo fans are not asking for something ultra-amazing, but at least something very good. Last year was a huuuge disappointment with Metroid Federation Force... because it looked like a bad or regular 3DS game. Is Metroid II a game with amazing graphics (today) ? No. But at least looks like it gives the best experience we can have in a 3DS.
Will be playing in handheld mode until the battery is completely discharged. Then I'll be playing in docked mode in my 50" TV. It was like this with Zelda. Didn't want to carry the power supply adapter with the tablet.
Can't say anything now. Just curious about the real price of these cartridges. You know, to avoid companies thinking like: "well, it is 4 dollars more expensive than a bluray release, so we'll charge 10 dollars as a market pattern for switch prices...".
(Perfect to make a pair with PS4 or Xbox One)... But... Let's say... PS Vita had exclusive games in a memory card. But companies were not charging "10 dollars" for that. I'm not sure if nintendo can do anything about this, but it's pretty negative that every physical release nowadays are more expensive than PS4 and Xbox One versions.
People are too sensitive. Let's talk about Switch. EA working in this version, for the first time, needs to compile a working version of Fifa. In its custom engine. Yes, extra work. Then, It is mandatory for Switch to have a nice handheld mode. It's not an option to say "it is like other versions". They will have to check every single menu, every single font size if it looks fine in a portable device. Then will check if the docked mode looks fine too. Same thing during the matches, in handheld mode it may need tweaks in camera and visual items. Of course, they just can't push the hardware to its limit, or the battery can be a problem. Since it is very different from XB1 and PS4, it will require more specific tests than these other versions. The Wii U version of Fifa 13 was a bad port. Worse than PS3 and Xbox 360. But NFS Most Wanted for Wii U was the best version of the game, and it didn't mean a thing. Fifa 13 had nothing to offer - nothing - if you were the owner of a ps3/x360. Fifa 18 offers a good experience that you can play anywhere, and it is very different than a ported version that runs on switch. But yes, people became very sensitive with anything related to EA.

Wolverine as a paid DLC.
5US$, 3 for disney, 2 for nintendo and then more success.

It's a shame they are charging 9.99 for that.

Honestly, I was shocked that this is a Nintendo game. I could swear - really - that it was an Indie game.
I received an email when this game released and thought "Oh well, nintendo helping great indie games, that's nice".
Shockingly it is "a new IP from Nintendo". C'mon, it's a genuine mobile game.

Re: Indie Dev Talks About Having Switch Proposals Turned Down By Nintendo Five Times
This is basic Nintendo Seal of Quality.
Do you want your mature game on Switch? It must be something REALLY important for the system (as skyrim or doom).
Nintendo will not allow a game that can be a success just because it is soft porn or shows violence.
Implosion is a mobile game. But was a mobile success: Nintendo approved.
Mr. Shifty had a lot of bugs, but it had good reviews on Steam. Approved.
If bad games are on the eshop and people are complaining, it means they have to restrict more them.

Just keep the same existing style. Don't repeat the same mistake of Xenoblade developers.
Re: Former Sony And Microsoft Exec: Nintendo Has Surprised Me With Switch
I don't care... no Call of Duty for Switch.
Nintendo is doomed.
Re: Matters Of Import: Finding The Secret Of Mana In Seiken Densetsu Collection On Switch
Re: PES 2018 is Skipping Nintendo Switch, But Konami Will Consider Future Releases
Re: Review: Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas (Switch eShop)
If the character was Link, and the history was a history like Legend of Zelda, with characters like Legend of Zelda, it would be 7.0/10, which is very good. But it's not. So, 6/10.
Re: EA is Focused on Nintendo Switch Portability and "Exploring Other Products"
People buy Fifa because Konami is not releasing PES for Switch, that's it thanks bye.
Where is Snes VC? Cool.
Re: New Nikkei Report Accuses Konami Of Blacklisting Past Employees
Sad reality.
Of course, this blacklist does not apply to every former employee, but it happens for sure with strategic employees. Also, it happens on North America, Europe...everywhere. The problem is that sometimes this former employee is not that bad guy than can create a company and compete with Konami and others, but it is blacklisted as a precaution act.
Re: Ubisoft España Tweet States Beyond Good & Evil is Coming to Nintendo Switch
@jancotianno https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wwn6mJd2Ehc
Here it is.
BGE2 will come to Switch, this Darksiders comparison video proves that Switch can run games released for PS4 and Xbox One.
And offer the best portable experience, as always.
Re: Ubisoft España Tweet States Beyond Good & Evil is Coming to Nintendo Switch
Re: Remake of Metroid II, Metroid: Samus Returns, Announced for 3DS at E3
That's the proof that Nintendo fans are not asking for something ultra-amazing, but at least something very good. Last year was a huuuge disappointment with Metroid Federation Force... because it looked like a bad or regular 3DS game.
Is Metroid II a game with amazing graphics (today) ? No. But at least looks like it gives the best experience we can have in a 3DS.
Re: New Trailer for Skyrim on Switch Showcases Motion Controls and Link amiibo Support
First time I'm gonna play Skyrim.
Will be playing in handheld mode until the battery is completely discharged. Then I'll be playing in docked mode in my 50" TV. It was like this with Zelda. Didn't want to carry the power supply adapter with the tablet.
Re: Battle Chasers And Sine Mora EX Are Getting Physical Releases On Switch, At A Cost
Can't say anything now. Just curious about the real price of these cartridges. You know, to avoid companies thinking like: "well, it is 4 dollars more expensive than a bluray release, so we'll charge 10 dollars as a market pattern for switch prices...".
Re: Talking Point: EA and Bethesda Highlight Nintendo Switch as a Portable Powerhouse at E3
Re: FIFA 18 Producer Explains Why You Should Care About The Game On Switch
