Re: Review: Metroid Dread - Quite Possibly The Best Metroid Game Ever Made

@Rin-go This is the last time I'll explain to you: Famitsu is a very famous magazine. Their reviews are spread worldwide. We don't have to be afraid for them. That's the sarcasm you didn't understand, or admit you didn't understand.
You've said a lot of phrases regarding the person, not the comment as an argument.
Fallacy: "Also the graphics aren't up-to-date. 4/10". You are lying to prove your point. No one said that. That's far from paraphrasing as you've said. The points are clear here. Again, be happy.

Re: Review: Metroid Dread - Quite Possibly The Best Metroid Game Ever Made

jancotianno

@Crockin The thing I think they guy was saying is when someone shows a blind passion for the game, they can't see the reality, everything is perfect... so... "the gameplay is nice, so it's a 10/10 doesn't matter the graphics". The fun factor is 10, not everything else. Then we hear It's a 12 hour campaign, but it's a 10/10 because it's the perfect time for a campaign (???). I remember only one person saying a good argument: "Eurogamer said this is one of the best looking games on Switch". That would be fine. We can't compare that with Death Stranding and Ghost of Tsushima (which are not last gen games anymore). But I'm still sure I would have more fun with Metroid Dread than Death Stranding (no joke, DS was boring).
There are other things that could be added on this kind of thread...you know, people complaining about Oled switch, expecting 4k, better hardware, better video card... WHY? Nothing else matters than gameplay, right?

Re: Review: Metroid Dread - Quite Possibly The Best Metroid Game Ever Made

jancotianno

@Rin-go I've watched the videos. I can tell you if the graphics are amazing, good or bad. I don't have to be an expert. In fact, I didn't say that. You are the one who said that to justify your fallacy and the flaws in your argument (as an expert).
But relax kid, 8/10, 9/10 is still a good game. Enjoy. The game doesn't have to be perfect.

Re: Review: Metroid Dread - Quite Possibly The Best Metroid Game Ever Made

jancotianno

@michellelynn0976 no trolling at all. I was very clear in my arguments. Since the first post I've made it clear that it is a game I may enjoy in the future. Discuss a biased review is not anything near trolling. People get crazy listening to good arguments explaining why it is 88/100, 9/10, and saying you have to ignore every problem and consider it a 10/10 because it has good gameplay and it is metroid.

Re: Review: Metroid Dread - Quite Possibly The Best Metroid Game Ever Made

jancotianno

@Indielink The same valid reasons to explain why this is a great game but not a 10/10. To be fair, I was just talking about the dated graphics, but now I'm reading other comments, we are talking about a 12 hour campaign too. Probably an 8/10 or 8.5/10 (using the same criteria of other games).
I think it is a nice message for Nintendo: We love your games, we are not complaining about perfect graphics, but please, at least try to keep only one generation behind

Re: Review: Metroid Dread - Quite Possibly The Best Metroid Game Ever Made

jancotianno

@quinnyboy58 Exactly. Leave the game without sound, put it with a 3DS resolution.
Probably you'll say something like "oh... but in that case it will ruin the gameplay". Not really. The gameplay is the same.
That's why we have different scores. 7. 7.5, 8...

It's not like "Gameplay is 10/10, so if graphics and sounds are average, it keeps a 10/10". At least not in the real world.

The work from 3D designers and musicians should have the same honest review, since they are responsible for the game too.

Re: Review: Metroid Dread - Quite Possibly The Best Metroid Game Ever Made

jancotianno

@PoliticallyIncorrect
See, unfortunately your experience with games are not longer than mine. We had the same first console.
Everything should be considered in a game. The sound fx, music, graphics, replayability, fun factor.
You can't give a game 10/10 if the music sucks or it doesn't have nice sound effects. That's the same with graphics. That's the same with many other factors. And don't try to bring in discussion the most important factor. It's clear. But the gameplay itself doesn't justify a 10/10.
It still looks like a dated game from an older generation.

Re: Review: Metroid Dread - Quite Possibly The Best Metroid Game Ever Made

jancotianno

Looks good. But tbh the graphics are dated.
No, seriously, it looks like a PS3 amazing indie game. And I know, it sucks to say the truth, but it is not like Super Mario Odyssey or Zelda BOTW that were system sellers and made a lot of people say "wowww, that's an amazing Zelda game, wowww Mario in a real city (Metro Kingdom).
I'll grab it later, believe me, I'm a big fan of the series, but considering everything else is perfect in this game, just looking at the graphics, it's definitely not a 10/10 in my opinion. And I know a lot of people agree with me.

Re: Apple Made More Profit From Games In 2019 Than Nintendo, Sony And Microsoft Combined

jancotianno

Ok, Apple has 30% of all sales in their platform. That's very, very far from net profit of 8.5 billion dollars.
It may be bigger than Nintendo because Apple is much much bigger than Nintendo...
But they have to keep their AppStore, Apple Payment and few other services to make it work.
There are thousands of developers and DevOps that are always developing updates for all these platforms, as well doing market research for new features. Usually their salaries are good.

For some reason people are fascinated creating stories like this:
"apple has more money than us government"....

Is it worth buying the new Nintendo Switch Oled version?
Consider the conditions below, you're welcome.

You are very rich -> YES
You play a lot in handheld mode, and you are rich -> YES
You play in your TV, sometimes in handheld mode -> NO
You play a lot in handheld mode but you don't have money -> NO
You are a casual NS player -> NO
You have to choose between buying the console or new games -> NO.

Re: 'WATA Certified' Copy Of Sonic The Hedgehog Sells For Record Price

jancotianno

@TryToBeHopeful Doesn't have to be in cash. All you need is an unknown origin. Protected by any kind of classified international bank. The seller is not responsible to prove if the buyer's money is legal or not.
So, if you have some "illegal money" and you sold Sonic for 400.000 dollars, you can "receive" this payment (of course, paying the bid taxes) and now this money is legal. The origin was a bid. You can say to everyone "I have 400.000 dollars because I sold a sonic cartridge"

Re: 'WATA Certified' Copy Of Sonic The Hedgehog Sells For Record Price

jancotianno

They've bought a lot of mint sonic copies. Now many people will try to sell the ordinary game for 10.000 dollars, maybe 5.000 dollars. That's how you destroy a market.
A rare painting from a famous person would require material proofs, historical analyst, complicated documents to prove its value. These guys from WATA are trying to do this with famous, but ordinary games without any decent criteria. VGA was considered a joke by many collectors, but WATA took this to another level.
Karl's video tried to say that this is market manipulation and not money laudering. I really think that maybe, maybe...nevermind.

Re: Possible Retro Game Grading Inconsistencies Come To Light Following Fraud Allegations

jancotianno

@Yorumi You know... the fake market is destroying the real one. I'll explain how in few steps (not real cases):
1 - We have 10 copies of Megaman X3, each one for 100 dollars.
2 - One guy, with a mint copy, tries to sell for 1000 dollars.
3 - Months later, the 1000 dollars copy is still there... but we have only two for 100 dollars. These guys decide to sell for 250 dollars.
4 - The guy selling for 1000 dollars says his copy is now 5000 dollars.
5 - Values keep increasing, and since it is all about speculation, now everyone with a Megaman X3 copy will try to sell for 1.000 dollars.

We are not talking about a Picasso masterpiece that people would pay to see it, something done by a historical artist. We are talking about products that were made in different factories, sometimes in different versions with different boxes, with materials that people could make a perfect replica and with the risk of deterioration.
Even with "rare CDs" this is happening. Metal Slug for Neo Geo CD. You pay a lot of money for something that will deteriorate.

Re: Random: Ed Boon Responds To Mortal Kombat X Street Fighter Requests

jancotianno

Scorpion and Subzero can be a part of Smash Bros.

Of course, they won't have the same gameplay style of Mortal Kombat, and that's it.

Smash Bros has Ryu, Ken, Virtua Fighter Kids, Tekken, Fatal Fury characters... and the game style of Smash Bros has nothing to do with these games.

A Mortal Kombat x Street Fighter game would be incredible, but I think it would be easier to be closer to Mortal Kombat style... (Almost like a Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter The Movie).

Re: Here's Why That NES Zelda Sold For $870,000, According To The Guy Who Designed The Packaging

jancotianno

If it is not that rare, it cannot be that pricey.

As I've mentioned for Super Mario 64, maybe they want to raise the value for loose cartridges... "See, Zelda was sold for a million, my loose game is at least 10.000 US$"

And of course, money laundering. For those wondering how it works: "An Unknown person, with unknown money bought my game for 870.000,00 US$. Now I have 870.000,00 US$ of legal money. I can explain the origin of my money: I sold a game for this value. If you wanna know if the origin of the bidder's money is illegal, search for the bidder, it is not my problem". And of course, the bidder is from another country, a distant one... you can find "it" online only, and since it is hard and complicated to prove anything, they don't care about giving interviews and saying "it is about experience and legacy...".
That happens with the art market too.

Re: Valve's Steam Deck Might Be The Closest We'll Get To A Switch Pro In 2021

jancotianno

That kind of move from Steam should be an alert for Nintendo. But the problem of NS success is that it seems Nintendo is, again, proud and a little bit arrogant since everything is selling well. Let's charge 60 dollars for Wii U Ports, for medium budget games with our characters, let's sell a premium console with small changes...
An so far, they were right: NS and 1st party games selling pretty well...
I'm just afraid that their reaction will be slow as it was with Wii U. Something like "Ok, now Steam's Handheld is selling better, but that's because it is a new console... they don't have Mario and Zelda". Then, after 3 months, if it is still selling better than ns, Nintendo will keep the arrogance "well, our userbase is 10 times bigger, they don't have exclusive games like us". Then they'll start crazy slashes on ns price but it will be too late.
Remember: When the "battle was lost", Nintendo released Mario Kart 8 on Wii U along with a free game as if it was easy to do a miracle. In some countries they were selling MK8 and you could take Zelda Wind Waker for free...
Can you imagine, a company like Nintendo, that charges 60 dollars for emulated games and always give small discounts for its older games, giving a nice Zelda game for free?
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2014/04/mario_kart_8_club_nintendo_promotion_offers_a_free_wii_u_game

Let's raise the tag nintendoomed today, before it's too late.

Re: Soapbox: Can We Just Announce All Platforms At The Same Time Already?

jancotianno

That's the same question that EVERY Game Company thinks before releasing a game on Switch. Millions of Switch Owners have also a PS4 or XB1...
Can you imagine if EA decided to release the same Fifa for PS4 and Switch? Owners of both platforms would buy only one... so they try to separate the experience: "For a Full Experience, buy the PS4 game, for the best Handheld experience, buy Switch legacy version".
Sometimes the market perspective is bigger than any port downgrade. Trials of Mana first release, for PC/PS4/Switch (AND NOT XBOX ONE) is a good example. Then they realized it was a big success, so they are planning an xbox port.

Re: Konami España Hints At More Switch News To Come

jancotianno

Nah, I don't have any expectations anymore with Konami. They were a giant in the past. The opening scene with that "Pink laser" on Snes showing their logo was a meaning of good games 30 years ago. (Green laser for Genesis, Blue for PC Engine). Now they are ordinary.
After the success of Bomberman and Momotarō Dentetsu, or if you prefer "mobile games", we can't expect something big like Capcom did with MHR. In the best scenario we'll see a Metal Gear Solid port from PS3/X360. That's fine.

Re: Talking Point: Is Zelda An RPG, Or Not?

jancotianno

Zelda has primitive RPG concepts.

Usually you start the game with three hearts. The level progression results in: More hearts (20 hearts in the end) and more stamina.
It is not saying "wow now you are level 4...". You have 4 hearts, that's it.
The equipment update exists too, but it is tied to level progression.
That's why it is considered by many an Action RPG.
It is an exploration action game with primitive concepts of RPG (which turns out in something simple with wider audience)
