Re: Activision Blizzard Lays Off Hundreds Despite "Record Year", A Far Cry From Nintendo's Caring Approach

gortsi

@Agramonte "It is a "record year" but they lost Bungie and they had an entire division working on support for Destiny they have zero need for. Forecast for 2019 is down.

Also, everyone At Blizzard gets 2 Bonuses a year depending on the profit for that quarter. So they have profit sharing with the artist that make games. They actually hiring more Game Designers and Digital Artist"

Bobby couldn't have said it better, you should ask him to hire you for PR, you'd be great.

Re: The Top 10 Best-Selling 3DS Games (As Of December 2018)

gortsi

@koekiemonster the fact that they know doesn't mean they can. Do you see Sony reporting how many copies RDR sold? Or Microsoft reporting COD sales? As for mobile sales, they report downloads, not sales, and unless the game was not free to play it is again impossible to approximate how much it really sold

Re: The Top 10 Best-Selling 3DS Games (As Of December 2018)

gortsi

@diablo2 this list is from Nintendo and thus contains only Nintendo published games. They cannot publish sales of third party games, that's on the respective publishers, and there's plenty of multimillion third party sellers on 3DS, off the top of my head I can think various MH games, Yokai Watch, Minecraft, etc

Re: Japanese Charts: New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe Knocked Off Top Spot In Its Second Week

Oh look, it's @Evilworm the prophet! Let's see what this specimen wrote in the past: "Watch it Nintendo Fanboys you're celebrating too early. Many people buy the console placing high hopes in their titles but soon nintendo gonna dash this hope. If Nintendo keep announcing ports and indies and double down on Mobile titles, it really is Nintendoom when least expected!." Not a very good day for you buddy, let me know if you want me to send your local water company to collect your tears

Re: Talking Point: Come In Nintendo 3DS, Your Time Is Up

gortsi

I mean, Nintendo has moved on since last year, the fact that they are still selling the system doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things. There haven't been much but ports in more than a year and the few remaining games are also ports, so I think it's only on NL's mind that the company hasn't entirely focused on the Switch

Re: 80% Of UK Gaming Revenue Came From Digital Sales In 2018, Industry Made Almost £4bn In Total

gortsi

@Morph all these series except for red dead have been on Nintendo consoles (and handhelds) in the past, both on instances where Nintendo crashed the competition (Wii/DS gen) or was crashed by the competition (Wii U gen). Guess what they both have in common? These games didn't make an ounce of a difference. I don't think anybody bought a Wii for the multiple Call of Duties it received or the Wii U for the two Assassin's Creed games. They're a nice bonus, and good to have, but that's it

Re: Persona 5 Switch Rumours Intensify

gortsi

@Ralizah apologies they did announce it in December, which is 9 months after the Switch was out, you're right. Anyway, this is irrelevant to persona, the original Catherine was also on the 360 but the remake won't be. I think the only reason it's put out is so they can make some money off the 5 people that still play on the Vita, Atlus always releases games till the very end of a platform's lifetime so that's no different

Re: Persona 5 Switch Rumours Intensify

gortsi

@Ralizah that was announced in 2017 though, before the Switch even existed and before the Vita stopped production of both hardware and software. Not the same thing at all

Re: Persona 5 Switch Rumours Intensify

gortsi

@Ralizah while what you say about the main Persona games is true, I think of it from a different angle. Every mainline persona to this day had a home and a portable version (except for 5) with the portable version coming later down the line. The 3DS can't get 5 and the Vita is dead with no successor on the horizon. If a portable version would come, and I do think it will since there are no power issues (the difference between the PS3 and the PS4 versions is purely visuals), the Switch would be the only viable platform

Re: Feature: The Final Wii U Games We'd Like To See On Switch In 2019

gortsi

@GrailUK I was gonna say, there are some third party gems that are stuck on the Wii U and could easily sell a lot better on the Switch. Besides the ones you mentioned,I'd also add Injustice (as a complete edition), Mass Effect 3 (with the addition of the first 2 if EA had any sense), Splinter Cell Blacklist, and maybe Tekken Tag tournament 2 if they don't want to put out a main series game

Re: Japanese Charts: Smash Bros. Ultimate Has Already Outsold Pokémon And Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

gortsi

@NEStalgia Smash 4 sold 14.7 millions (both versions combined). The series has been selling more with each iteration, Ultimate should easily clear 20 million in the long run. No other fighting series (nowadays, not the SF2 days) could even dream of these numbers. And people forget something else. How much money did they make from the more than 70+ amiibo (this is the game that started them in the first place) that they are still making, the various pieces of DLC on Wii U/3DS or the season pass from Ultimate? For me the greatest part is that the game is not just a celebration of all things Nintendo but of gaming in general, no other series could do a crossover like Smash

Re: Japanese Charts: Smash Bros. Ultimate Has Already Outsold Pokémon And Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

gortsi

@NEStalgia I studied in the US from the early to the late 00's, Smash has always been huge in the West, I don't know how a series where the worst selling title still sold 5.5 million can ever be "niche." It was always among the top choices for games in our college dorm and we were far from the only playing either Melee or Brawl (depending which console was available at hand)

Re: Indie Devs Explain Why Their Games Are Successful On Nintendo Switch

gortsi

@construx while that's a noble aim, even when Nintendo is at its most successful (as with the Wii for example) it still doesn't get many of these games. Some will come, like the next Doom and the next Wolfenstein, and others will not. I think the failure of certain games on the Wii U (assassin's creed, Watchdogs, Splinter Cell, COD, Need for Speed, Madden) makes the return of these series highly unlikely and that's not only due to technical limitations. I think that the publishers who are willing to take a risk though, like Bethesda, will be rewarded in the long run, hopefully others will follow suit too
