It's the 30th Anniversary of Street Fighter and yet this is Street Fighter 2. Would have been happier to see a commemorative version of the right game on a Spectrum tape. Never had one of those catch on fire, as I remember.
@Elanczewski It's just so that learning each little tip doesn't require you to scour Hyrule for the relevant item. I expect they quite deliberately pick things that don't significantly increase your chances of beating the game.
Yeah, I guess I'm probably due another football game. I liked International Superstar Soccer and Pro Evo 4 so there's a good chance I'll make FIFA 18 my third.
@Yasaal or indeed release dates for the roughly 50 out of roughly 60 games that are apparently due at some mystically derived point before the end of 2017.
I don't think it's really worth reading too much meaning into the exact wording of the plot scenes and I think the fact that it's not even the same in all languages is just further evidence of that. Future Zelda games will disregard the minutiae of the previous story lines in favour of doing whatever works best for the current one.
I wonder if anyone is looking at the issue where it throws you into a lobby early enough to have played but then makes you spectate the whole first race. That happens way too often to be coincidence.
I bet the no time passing thing is all about that first view outside the cave. They want new players to be able to spend as much time as they like dicking about with the controls before they pick up the slate and still get the iconic mid-morning view across Hyrule when they step outside.
Never bought as many GBA games as I intended to due to getting my first PC and first access to proper broadband shortly afterwards. I still go back to Advance Wars 1 & 2 every few years. Really hope Tiny Metal turns out to be good.
@roadrunner343 No, absolutely - of course some people like some games more than others. I'm not asking for all reviewers to meld their minds and all release the same review; opinion is inherently subjective. It's just with this site... they just seem to love everything Nintendo is pushing a bit more than every other site. It's too consistently in that direction to be coincidence at this stage.
@Eddyson This is an 8/10 on Polygon, GameSpot, GamesRadar and TheSixthAxis. I like this site but at this stage I think the review scores can largely be ignored.
@Dr_Corndog Ah, that answers my question, then. There's also strangely little post-event coverage to be found on web today. Makes me wonder whether Nintendo have phoned round the major outlets asking them not to make a big deal of it...
I hope the system can distinguish between a player turning the game off and the server-side stuff not being able to cope. I had a couple of attempts at connecting on Saturday night and there didn't seem to be enough capacity. And yes, I did try playing another online game to check my connection. It was fine.
Kind of bothers me that GDQ still never gets the tiniest mention in the mainstream media. I mean okay, speedrunning video games isn't exactly a mainstream interest but this thing is making seven figures for medical charities twice a year as it is. Imagine what it could do if anyone had actually heard of it.
@SomeBitTripFan They added the Mann Co. Store in 2010, prior to which was the golden era in which it wasn't possible to unlock weapons by paying for them.
Ink Armour looks suspiciously like it's supposed to create a medic-like role within Splatoon. Makes me hope this might just be the game TF2 should have been instead of becoming a Pay2Win.
Another game with a free demo! Glad those are making a comeback with the Switch, I always loved trying out demos as a kid but they seem to have died out a bit in recent years.
Woo, hard mode! I made a point of stopping with BoTW after I'd done the two 'main' quests and whatever else I happened to bump into. Tomorrow begins the 100% run, assuming I can get there before I die of old age.
Whether it's real or not, I'm pretty confident that a means of transferring save data will appear at least before the first (inevitable) hardware revision. They wouldn't be able to convince Switch owners to buy a slightly different version of the same machine if it also meant losing all their game progress.
@LUIGITORNADO How is it there are still so many people who want a 2013 game and don't already own it? Is buying another copy the way to get around having your online account banned, I wonder? If which case, that's a lot of people who have a $40 monthly subscription to ruining others people's fun...
What is it with Switch development and not being able to come up with proper release dates? There must be about twenty games now that are finished enough to be able to show to journalists and yet somehow the best the creator can do is an estimate of which year it will be out.
Hmmm, played the demo and it's good at what it does but the characters are just too annoying. And it's not like the irritating plot bits in Puyo Tetris where you can skip them safe in the knowledge it doesn't matter - if you're going to skip the plot of an RPG you might as well not bother playing.

Re: Worms W.M.D. Is Now Officially Confirmed For Switch
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Seems like a good pun initially but then makes me think of dog death. Put annelid on it.

Re: Here’s What the Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Day One Update Does
Only played an hour or so but from what I saw I'd say it could be the best third party title on the system.

@holygeez03 Ah, was it? Dunno, I was a SNES kid myself. I expect you're right.
Re: The Sonic Mania Collector's Edition Statue Cuts Corners, But Can be Made Cooler
I'd forgotten the Mega Drive 1 had a mechanical volume slider. I don't think I ever saw anyone move it...

Re: Nintendo Download: 10th August (Europe)
Saving this month's games budget for Mario + Rabbids unless something unexpectedly spectacular comes along.
Re: Super Meat Boy is Definitely Coming to Nintendo Switch
SUPERRRRR MMMEAT BOY! I mean great but really who wants to play this and hasn't managed to get it on another system by now?

I'm going to buy the two separately to save that 1 cent. It's about working smarter, people.
