At the end of this year it could surpass 70 million. If it then has 2 more years of 15 million it's already at wii numers.
In fact, I think that the shipping number for switch could be around 75 million (31-12-2020) if they launch BOTW2 this year.
That leaves 15 and 10 million respectively to achieve wii sales.

A lot of people seem under the impression that de switch sales are going to fall of a cliff when PS5 and Xbox series X launch.
I don't, because that didn't happen when the switch launched in 2017.
The switch was extremely succesfull in it's first year, but ps4 sales didn't decline. Nintendo knows this and want to make switch 1 as succesfull as possible by continuing it's legacy for as long as possible.

Best moment for me is the start of the “Nintendo directs”. So used to them right know, but it’s not for that long that we are having them. And they are (almost) always exciting!

@Ralizah Me too. I hope 2020 will bring us at least some info. The silence around the game makes me wonder if there will be significant upgrades (first game om “home console”).

The last couple of years I was hoping that “retro’s new game” was a sequel to DK64. I believe that there is so much potential (when they also add quality of life improvements). I also hope 2020 marks the year for some cool surprises because the big franchises are mostly represented on the switch. And more than anything, I like Nintendo the most when they surprise us gamers!

Lots of surprises coming for 2020 I hope. They are currently focussing on a strong line-up for the end of 2019

In this quarter BOTW sold around 0,9 million and SMO around 0,4 million. The math isn’t that hard with this one.

Also the sales for BOTW and SMO in the article are wrong when compared to the official nintendo site.

Looks good to me. I am looking forward to this games. I also get the backlash and wished for more. I just hope gamefreak will expand so that they can make even greater pokemon games.

This is a very good solution if you have kids for example.
You don't need 2 or 3 docked switch models.
This is a cheaper alternative in that situation.

I would have liked a pro, but I think this is the better move for their sales considering it's the 3ds replacement.

These guys are childhood heroes for a lot of us. It gets me excited that they are learning and expanding. I haven’t played the first game, but I am definitely interested in this “sequel”. The hub world looks like an wunderful addition.

I do hope that the work environment is good with Retro Studios. The rumours about a possible shut down weren’t pleasent to read because I love this company for their games.Take the time to deliver an epic mp4!

I think de switch will easily outsell the 3ds.
I suspect the line-up will remain good and with a possible price cut (in 2020 when ps5/xb2 launch?) it has the potential to do crazy numbers.

We need to rember 3ds sold so well since the price cut. Switch is selling as good without a price cut.

@HarryHyruleHero Could be. However I am expecting a super mario maker 2 direct in april/may and then a great e3 direct, with finally more info on all the other games.

Sad that he didn’t present a last direct. I know some people think he is just a pr tool. But I guess there will be a lot more people, like me, that will miss him. Best to you Reggie.

I would advise them to advertise how they are going te expand the service, instead of making it worse by stopping with the bare minimum.

The switch is such a gem. I hope its concept stays for the future!

That could be a little longer than soon. I expect super mario maker 2 to be the first. Of course not counting already released nintendo games.

This came out of the blue. I remembered that Reggie was the reason that I didn't liked nintendo spotlight, at first. Because I found the E3 presentations so enjoyable with him.

This looks very healthy for the switch. It seems that the release of KH3 en RE2 had influence on switch sales last week. Without any new releases the switch shifted a lot more consoles than last week.

Exactly my point. For me it depends on how different MK9 would be. But I think that a lot of people aren’t going to buy two MK games on the same console.

If they release SMO2 or BOTW2 then that’s a different scenario.

Because already so much people already got MK8DX, I don't think Nintendo will release a sequel on the switch. I most certainly think it wouldn't sell much better. Of course I could be wrong.

This means retro studios is still going ánd the quality will be guaranteed. I am deaply disappointed, but understand it completely. In the end I think this will be for the better. This completely takes away my concern off ''will this be a good game?''. Take your time to deliver Nintendo. There is enough on the horizon (if most of the announced games do launch in 2019)

I hope retro is doing oke, and that they finally reveal what they’ve been working on! For me the best Nintendo times are when you didn’t know what you wanted, until they showed it.

I think most people are underestimating the sales of this game.
I also wish for a 2d mario with a lot more risk then the ''generic'' new super mario bros games.
