@Lizuka It looks like this one will have much more plot and cutscenes with dialogue. Presumably to try to make the series gain a more mainstream audience.

1.Air Ride on the Gamecube sold 1.35 million but that's with a much smaller Gamecube User Base than Switch 1.
2. Air Riders debuted with 195,594 sales vs. Forgotten Land's 380,000, but that's with 2.9 million Switch 2's sold in Japan currently vs. 25 million when Forgotten Land Released.
Perhaps this is due to the November release around bigger game franchise releases as well as more evergreen games since then and increased sales of those games in November. It shouldn't affect its total sales but it could affect its rank placement relative to other games, which is why Kirby Star Allies ranked #2 in March 2018 with Switch sales of 17 million vs 10-12 million Switch 2's for Air Riders and the Switch 2 Edition of Forgotten Land ranked #7 in August.
Kirby games still sell much less than the popularity/recognition of the character itself would imply, so one would hope that with more marketing and a greater Switch install base vs. Gamecube, that Air Riders as a racing game with nicer graphics compared to previous Kirby games, could become the series' break out game success hit with casuals like Mario Kart is compared to Mario platformers. But the game seems to be a huge hit in Japan, so we'll have to wait to see more numbers from there as well as the U.S./Worldwide.
@SpaceboyScreams Spider Man 2, and Super Mario Bros Wonder could have given it competition, also it sold 700,000 less than Arceus. The Switch 2 version was the one that was pushed the most, if half of the launch sales are from the Switch 2 version, that's a massive overperformance considering Switch 2 is like 6.5% of Switch 1 sales. This likely means that either a ton of casual people perceive the game to be a Switch 2 exclusive or are waiting until they get a Switch 2 before they get this game.

@Yoshi3 I mean their score for Mario Odyssey is 97.5, which ended up being a 97 on Metacritic. So the 95 for Bananza should be close to actual Metacritic score.
@shoeses Kirby's copyright is only half owned by Nintendo along with the company that makes the games, HAL Laboratory. Same goes with Fire Emblem with Intelligent Systems. Nintendo fully owns the International trademark for all three of Kirby, Fire Emblem, and Pokemon.
@Axecon This seems like typical office politics to me. Also Nintendo owns the international trademark, so they won't go somewhere that Nintendo doesn't allow.

Re: UK Charts: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Crafts Its Way Back Onto The Podium
@somnambulance There are still the long term evergreen sellers that it had to beat though.
Re: Nintendo's Investors Are Reportedly "Spooked" As Stock Slides
I was under the impression that Serkan Toto's point about lack of first party titles was about this last holidays
Re: UK Charts: Here's Hoping Animal Crossing Spices Things Up This Week
@JohnnyMind Animal Crossing should 100% be higher after this week with the release of the Switch 2 Edition and Update.
Re: Japanese Charts: Switch 2 And Mario Kart World Continue To Obliterate The Competition
@Serpenterror No, that's wrong. It's supposed to be Switch 2.
Re: Japanese Charts: Well, Look At Who's Snuck Back Into First Place
@Metazoxan Lifetime sales for Kirby Air Riders based on early Japanese sales should be around 5 million when it's all said and done.
Re: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond - Meet The Team
@Expa0 It is just Myles MacKenzie that the previewers met and had an issue with.

@Tibob He's a very accurate leaker will a solid track record, also it could be a time zone difference and it will be September 11 in America.
Re: Nintendo's Share Price Is Now Double The Height Of The Wii Era
@TrogdorTheBurninator Well, just look at the PS5 sales and how it's less than 2 million behind PS4 despite higher prices.
Re: Nintendo's Share Price Is Now Double The Height Of The Wii Era
You forgot Pokemon Legends Z-A for "big first party titles"
Re: The First Review For Donkey Kong Bananza Is In
@LastFootnote Well, Odyssey is the most comparable game to this one.

Re: Nintendo Has "No Plans" To Use Game-Key Cards For First-Party-Developed Titles
@Magician What do you mean? That's the costs that it cost Nintendo to manufacture for these 64GB cards so they have to pa for it to make it.
Re: Here's Why Switch 2 Joy-Con And Pro Controllers Don't Have Analogue Triggers
@chiptoon The "fussy developers" could just be the Splatoon developers.
Re: Ex-Nintendo Duo Unsure Mario Kart 9 Will Be An Instant "Slam Dunk" For Switch 2
It's been 8 years, so it'll be a new generation of kids, so that scenario likely doesn't matter anymore.

@sanderev There's also brand new story elements as well in this one.

Re: UK Charts: Mario Wonder And Sonic Superstars Start Strong, But Neither Can Out-Swing Spidey
2D Mario has a more casual audience so it will have less of a big first week, and a larger more long term sales.
