...I honestly have no idea how to react to this news. I've seen no indication of what Iwata would do differently than Reggie and what that would mean for Nintendo purchasers.
The more options the better. As long as the game makes clear that the default options are true to the series's tradition, then I don't see how anyone could be hugely upset over this.
While the prototype does look neat, I don't see much of a reason as to why Inafune would want this to be a Megaman game. I understand that while Inafune has been trying to make Megaman more edgier, a complete genre shift seems slightly out-of-place.
On the bright side, I guess this means that Nintendo is exceeding expectations? I mean, look at something like the new Tomb Raider; apparently shipping around 3.5 million within the first week wasn't good enough to be considered a success. If the demand exceeds the stock then Nintendo must be doing something right, even if that conclusion comes only with twisting some logic.
Considering that the big buzz around the Wii U is the whole asynchronous multiplayer, I'm betting that Square Enix will be showing off another Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles game. Assuming that the multiplayer would be the center focus, it would also be a good fit for a PAX-like environment. Then again, the Japanese have never cared for Western game events besides E3, so there's a good chance that it's a port of an older game/a game that has already been announced.
Looking at the comments again, almost everyone's reaction is ridiculous. Let's just chill, guys; This is (mostly) Michael Pachter being Michael Pachter. If you don't agree with his opinion, then it's best just to post "I disagree, here's some politely-presented reasons why..." and be done with it.
While I think that the idea of "Online" single-player experiences has a lot offer and many ideas to explore (see; the Souls series and Journey), I just can't see every game abandoning an offline single-player experience. Single-player games can offer many things that a multiplayer game or a connected single-player game can't.
@WaltzElf / @Bankai / @MyBoss : Yeah, the Souls games do online single-player experiences extremely well, but the idea that EVERY single-player enabled game should have an internet component to that lonely experience just seems a bit silly.
Honestly, at this moment I can pass on Destiny. Not only have I never felt sorry for not playing Halo games, but Destiny looks exactly like Halo...only it's not called Halo. The fact that Bungie/Activision has only shown in-game footage of Destiny and no actual gameplay doesn't sway my decision.
Is this really news-worthy, Damien? This whole post just seems like you're trying to grab for more hits. You're literally reporting over the text of a Google advertisement.
Nice to see Melee winning. Last I checked about the EVO 2013 donation drive, a My Little Pony fighting game was winning by bounds and leaps. Granted, a fighting game involving ponies at a competition where the average player can chain combos like a mother f---er would definitely grab my attention if only for the sheer surrealism, but I suspect that the people who watch EVO are more interested in games which have greater cult followings.
So they don't want to port the game simply because they would feel pressured to do something with the interface? No "The hardware is different and unnatural!" or "The publisher thinks it wouldn't sell!" or "We're too far into development to retro-fit support for another console!"? I'm sure most Wii U owners would be happy just to have a version of the game to play, let alone have their version contain some small extras.
Quite surprising, especially considering that Nintendo is probably the least forward-thinking (not an entirely bad remark) of the companies. I guess Nintendo has some high expectations of themselves and are living to those expectations.
If this happens to be less than the standard $60, I would gladly pick this up. Granted, I think Nintendo went a bit overboard with the bloom ("THERE MUST BE BLOOM ALL OF THE TIME FOREVER!!!" is the first thing that comes to me head), but Wind Waker is definitely deserving of an HD treatment out of all of the Zelda games.
Delaying the 3DS version solely because they don't have their in-development PS Vita version ready? I honestly don't believe that. Also, wouldn't that be self-defeating? From a business standpoint, putting out the 3DS version and then announcing a PS Vita version would be more profitable as early adopters would have already bought the 3DS version.
Although it's sad to see exclusive content be on the edge of existing, if Frozenbyte feels it is right and better to focus on future projects than so be it. I really need to play Trine 2 and it was even on sale for a good price during the Steam Winter sale...
Although this looks neat, does this have anything to do with Nintendo? I understand that this product would be competing against the 3DS, butthe Playstation Vita is doing that right now and I didn't see any news of its announcement nor is news frequently reported about the device on this site.
Otherwise, I agree with @WaltzElf on this; this isn't going to sell because it's a premium device and there's no real name brand associated with it. Also, the device is running Android. While I have nothing against the OS, right now it is not an extremely well-supported OS when it comes to gaming, with even OSX getting more support.
I would assume that Kojima Productions nor Platinum Games want to play around with the different architecture of the Wii U, which is why they don't have any plans for a Wii U version of Rising.
It really makes me sad that many people think that mental issues and horrible acts can all be traced back to one thing. Life is so much more complicated than what those individuals want people to believe.
...Wait, there was an actual game called Gun.Smoke? What was it, a steam-punk version of .HACK?
A Bit More OT: As it appears that indie developers are having no problems working with Nintendo (see; creators of Unepic, Frozenbyte, Broken Rules, literally any Wii U independent developer), it doesn't surprise me that Nintendo would work well enough with Capcom to gain their support, at least for an arcade collection.
Considering the nature of Animal Crossing, I'm not surprised that digital sales have been surprisingly large. AC was always a game that was meant to be played in 5-20 minutes bursts daily, so being able to boot up the game whenever without carrying a physical cart around is a nice extra that I can see many video game players being enticed by.
Love the idea of a single-account purchase allowing multiple accounts to play the game instead of just the individual account that bought the game. That, to me, is how game downloads should be done. Moving on, 12 accounts is a hefty amount, so that should fit everybody in a family.
@shinpichu Try Guild Wars 2. It's an MMO with a unique partying system (AKA a whole server is a party) and there is no subscription fee. Granted, it's a PC only title, so that may factor into your decision.
A Little More OT: I can actually see WOW working on the Wii U. Granted, if Nintendo allowed Blizzard to use their own servers, WOW on the Wii U could be a very real possibility.
Thank you, Treasure. I am ready to be blessed with another glorious shooter of yours. If it's another Sin & Punishment title, I will have to fly to Japan and hug ever employee.
I guess that's a shame...sort-of. As I refuse to let random strangers hear my horrendous voice and I almost automatically mute everyone else, I honestly couldn't care less about built-in voice-chat. While the feature is very useful in MMOs and party-oriented games, I highly doubt we'll see many of those games on the Wii U. (Yes, I know about Monster Hunter.)
Also, this an article from Kotaku. I'll just let that comment sit there.
@shinpichu From a technical standpoint, yes, emulators and the act of emulation are not illegal. However, acquiring ROMs from third parties who have no association with Nintendo or do not in fact own the game content in the ROM is quite illegal. Yes, there is the possibility that the company dumped the game cartridges and created their own ROMs, but I honestly can't see anyone going to that length when there are over thousands of already-dumped Starfox 64 ROMs floating around the internet.
As for my opinion? This is cool, but then again it's Android. When I think of gaming, the last platform I think of is Android. Sure, there may be some really good Android games, but being based off of Linux means that a large chunk of all video games are unplayable on the OS. Heck, Linux is just now getting Steam support, so I don't expect Android to go anywhere in terms of the gaming sphere.
@Zombie_Barioth Admittedly, Pokemon has become more of a cultural phenomenon than "A Game". Call of Duty and Mass Effect, despite being enormous franchises that have made millions of dollars, are still culturally considered "Games" rather than huge, multimedia-expanding phenomenons which the likes of Pokemon and a handful of other properties have reached.
You know what, I'm fine with "Autoplay" buttons. I'm fine with IOS gaming. If done right, I have absolutely no grudges with social games. What really irks me is that this game is supposed to be the big celebration of Mega Man's 25th anniversary. Not MM12, not the uncancellation of MML3, or not even a compilation art-book of some kind. It's a simple, dirt-cheap mobile game that has been built off of a template which could be applied to literally any franchise or character.
That's just screwing with your loyal fans, Capcom.
Honestly, I don't think the addition of some kind-of-neat features in a Resident Evil 6 port would satisfy any fans. The only way for Capcom to really make up with their fans is if they completely recreate Resident Evil 6 such that the game...well, doesn't suck.
Nice to see Nintendo acknowledge that the Wii U hardware has been a bit of a mystery for a while. While I can't check out the interview right now, I will as soon as I have some time.

Re: Review: Witch & Hero (3DS eShop)
I don't know why, but the review just wants me to play the game even more. That great pixel art doesn't deter me either. I'm sorry?

Re: Ubisoft: Players Will Let Us Know When They've Had Enough Assassin's Creed
Good for Ubisoft. If the series keeps selling and Ubisoft doesn't homogenize the series (which it hasn't yet), I'm all for yearly entries.
Re: iOS Developers May Be Able To Port Games To The Wii U
The more games the better.
Re: Vita Knocks 3DS Down to Second in the Japanese Charts

I look at the problem this way; right now, I can buy a 500GB Western Digital harddrive, which would be completely compatible with the Wii U, for a small $50 US while Microsoft is still offering ~$120 US for an official 250GB Xbox 360 harddrive.
