@tealovertoma Honestly, I get more angry at the blatantly direct copies of Nintendo games (see; both of the games mentioned in this news article) than I do games which use similar ideas. And besides, it's not like Teyon took the graphics almost directly from Aaaa!!!, which is what the two games in that news article I linked to basically did.
Also, I have a question for reviewer Sleeper; does this game get any faster? From what I can see in this trailer, the game seems to be very slow. For me the major appeal of Aaaa!!! was that it was essentially skydiving through a futuristic city rather than floating through one, the later being the approach that Under Fire seems to have taken.
@Aviator Yes, everybody should be criticized and put in their place because Sony is trying to claim ownership over a person. Also, even if Sony created a section in the contract stating that Jerry Lambert couldn't be seen in a commercial with a competitors product, the logical connection that we should instead entirely blame Jerry Lambert for signing the contract is asinine. Yes, I agree that that contract could not be put forth as evidence for a court case without Jerry Lambert willingly signing it, but not blaming Sony for creating that contract is the same as not blaming the man who only marries to take whatever valuables his partner has.
EDIT: That comparison may be a bit wrong upon posting the comment, but my point was that we should criticize companies for making ridiculous contracts more than criticizing people for signing them.
Despite a good chunk of the release titles being ports, this is probably the best launch line-up I've ever seen. While missing any sort of strategy game, it definitely makes up in every action game category represented.
From where I stand, this article has done its job quite well.
As For My Opinion: Yeah, I'm in agreement with this article. Despite whatever advantages Nintendo would gain from publishing its titles on mobile platforms, Nintendo would be shooting themselves in the foot and they would be losing control over the platforms they create games for. Being a part-time programmer, I can safely argue that something created from scratch is much easier to manage than something that was developed in large by other individuals/companies.
@Koto Nice to see another brethren in the refusal to buy stupidly-adopted PC ports!
Yeah, make it happen Criterion. Despite appearing to have fallen into the middle of EA's cycle of destroying once-great video game creators, Criterion is still making some of the best racing games of all time. It would be nice to have a version of the game that does not use EA's stupid DRM policies and one that I can play alone.
You know, despite making himself look ridiculous and offensive for the sake of offensive, I like Cliff Blezenski. When he publicly speaks and writes he is surprisingly well-composed and presents some interesting ideas. As for this topic; I am interested to see if Epic does anything with the Wii U. With Unreal Engine 4.0 most likely not resource-friendly enough to run on the Wii U, it will be interesting to see Epic's last effort on Unreal Engine 3.0.
You know, I really wish that Valve went all-in on their idea to create a Half-Life movie. At least we would get a good, if not great, video game movie.
Considering that the New Super Mario Bros. games are still solid games, I'm willing to let Reggie take the stage for this one. And since the mantra seems to be 1 NSMB game per console, there will most likely be a long time where a new NSMB title will be absent. However, I do agree with FlutterShyGuy that these titles are taking away development time from more interesting, fan-favorite titles that have been missing from the past few years.
It's nice to see some developers excited and supporting of the Wii U. I'm still not a huge fan of Runner 2's art style. However, I highly doubt that the game will be bad and I will most likely be picking up the game.
For the record, I had a delicious homemade pizza. Also, I have a strange feeling that posting pictures of our dinners will come back to haunt us someday...
The more I think about the conference, the more annoyed I get by it. When I attempt to be unbiased, I feel it was a rather Okay conference. But combined with my personal expectations and hopes, I hate how their was no "Drop"; there's this build-up that never actually goes anywhere. I kept waiting for the game that was to steal the stage, but their was none. That just really angers me, especially when the rest of the conference ranged from "Just Good" to average.
EDIT: Actually, I think what angered me more is that the conference started out quite good, and then dropped in quality but never actually picked itself back up. Hopefully the 3DS conference tomorrow will make up for it enough to sooth my anger.
It will be revealed, and then completely forgotten about until launch day by Konami themselves because Konami doesn't know how to market anything. Case in point; Silent Hill: Book Of Memories. Never heard of it? That's because Konami has literally done nothing to promote the game.
You know, now that I think about it, the gameplay of Lost Planet would be suited for handheld devices extremely well. I'm eager to see how this game turns out.
It's a disappointment that this game came out the way it is. Maybe the lagging issues will be fixed in a future update, as I'm still curios to see how the game fairs to my personal tastes and standards.
The caption to that picture so badly makes me want a game where you play as Iwata (mustache included) and punch mini-Marios. Maybe it could don the name of Super Mario 128?
Considering that Animal Crossing would most likely be Nintendo's easiest game to monetize with extra payment options, I'm happy that Nintendo still holds a firm belief on letting players access all of the (finished) content that's on the disc/cartridge.
I have no doubt that official Nintendo games would sell well on a smartphone, but to stay in the competition Nintendo can't let all of its big IPs onto other gaming platforms. Nintendo would be dooming its own consoles if they let that happen.
It would be nice to know what the range of these prizes are, as I would be willing to shell out 300 coins for a chance at the replica Game & Watch console.
EDIT: After a bit of looking, it doesn't seem like the prize is accessible from the Rewards Catalog, which concerns me that it might just be a test page. I'll wait for something more solid before I start dumping my coins in anyone's bucket.
I'm not entirely understanding all of the negativity for NSMB2. Sure, it's another game in the NSMB series, but the series has never been outright bad and it's not like any of you are being forced to play the game. And besides, the one screenshot in the gallery is not the entire game; it doesn't mean that everything in the game will follow the impressions that you get from that screenshot.
EDIT: Thinking about it all, this situation seems to be headed in a "Dynasty Warriors"-esque setting, so all I have to say is this; for those that like the games, continue to like them. For those that don't like the games, it doesn't seem like a terribly hard time to completely ignore the franchise.
EDIT #2: Also, the www.supermario4.com domain still redirects to the Nintendo country selector, so there's a chance that Nintendo didn't just buy the domain for the sake of mis-association with NSMB2.
Considering that almost all of his games have sold below expectations, I'm not surprised that his publishers aren't letting him play with new toys just yet so that he doesn't end up sinking thousands of dollars into a game for a console that could fall either way in terms of popularity and sales.
Considering that Capcom already has a dev team of over 600 people, I'm happy that they've decided to not go down the route of hiring on more people. There's already a good chance that the team is too big that the game will likely be a huge flop, no matter how coordinated they are and how much work is put into the title.
I'm not going to lie; Kid Icarus Uprising has been blowing my mind for the past two days I've had it and is easily becoming my favorite 3DS game. I haven't even gotten to the multiplayer yet, which I have no doubt is going to be great.
I can understand all the other categories, but Peggle HD, a game that is just a prettier version of a game that came out 5 years ago, is more worthy of an award of a yearly awards ceremony than original games that actually came out last year? I would be fine with anything winning the Best Mobile/Handheld award if it wasn't Peggle.
A 4-month delay? That seems oddly long. I can't believe that they would be working on adding anything since some stores must have gotten copies by now, and resending brand new copies would be expensive.
The wording of the press release has made me curios; is Nintendo/Havok handing out licenses, or is this the usual you-still-need-to-pay-for-the-thing situation? Because if they were handing out licenses, I would really be impressed.
I highly doubt any "Big" announcements will be made on Nintendo Direct. I could see this as a good time to announce that the Wii U will named something else considering that E3 is about four months away.
It kinda looks like Dr. Wily is also in the picture, hanging off to the left side of Bowser. Either way, this movie will be an interesting development.
That's bizarre, especially considering that the Vita looks much more promising than the 3DS did at launch. I guess the 3DS price drop changed a lot of people's minds?
Either this is one of the worst mistakes of someone's career or this is the most brilliant piece of viral advertising ever. I'm willing to say it's both.
Personally this doesn't affect me much. I rarely play games for the couch multiplayer and, to me, portability outweighs a cooperative multiplayer mode by leaps and bounds.
I'm happy that someone else besides me realizes that once you go mouse/stylus, you can't go back. However, it is disappointing that more control options were considered for those that just can't get mouse/stylus controls. Either way, I'm still getting this game.
I'm kind-of intrigued by all of this. On one hand, MYST in 3D would look really pretty, and if the movement system was more similar to that of Real MYST I would totally buy this game. But on the other, MYST is an extremely confusing game that doesn't deserve anything above the $15 mark. This might be a good pick-it-up-used game.
