And NO I did not have to Google their names because:
There's Speedy Ceviche he's the leader of the bunch, one heck of a fighter makes a heck of a lunch! And little Polly Ester who's never afraid, of going into battle when the bad guys invade! And Guido Anchovy a wild romantic rover, this cat gets down down with a wild hangover!
I didn't have to Google the song either. How could ANYONE forget a show like this?
When anime first came into my 90s US vision there was Dragon Warrior, Ronin Warriors, Sailor Moon which was legendary, Dragon Ball Z which I didn't watch too much because I didn't see it from the beginning until years later, and then Samurai Pizza Cats. Such a great goofball dub of show is FINALLY getting a game?! This is the stuff of Dreams.
When the NES came out there was some small print on the box that said, suggested ages 6 & up. I've found this to still be a good barometer for most kids playing traditional video games. Five and above is about right, most video games have been considered a fun recreation for big kids, teenagers, and up. Sometimes too young is too young. I mean you wouldn't let a baby eat crunchy cookies because they don't have the teeth for it. It's a hard lesson but a good lesson. I have friends who have kids and as they got older they were able to play the games better so it all works out.
@Tom-Massey "10 if I give it one good sir, and that is a hallowed score reserved for games that reinvent the wheel" OK I understand. I'm from the school of thought where if a game accomplishes what the developer sets out to accomplish perfectly it gets a perfect score, revolutionary or not. I'm afraid we still disagree, but I respect where you're coming from.
Wow this is a surprise. One of WayForward's deep cuts inspired by Guardian Legend, Sigma Star Saga what a treat! Hopefully you can run away from some of the random battles or something. Or perhaps something like Earthbound, where if it's a weaker encounter and you're so leveled up you just immediately win before the shoot'em-up stage really starts. Man that's the one thing this game really needs. And this is from someone who's used to random encounters in Final Fantasy IV - VII.
Mr. Jim Norman, as people have said before this is FAR from being unsung. While I and many others around the world would disagree with the title, we emphasize with the article.
As you know now, you're not alone. Maximilian Dood, a very popular fighting game streamer and Final Fantasy VII fan, did a big streaming event with other big streamers to get Marvel versus Capcom 2 re-released after it was tragically delisted off the PS3/Xbox 360 stores. There's also been a free Marvel 2 hashtag that many including actor Michael B. Jordan, got into making a lot noise to bring this game back somehow.
As a hardcore Zelda fan and Metroid fan this Marvel Collection is easily my favorite announcement, so many of us screamed when we saw this. Marvel 2 getting re-released was a shock and a big dream come true, and then they threw in a whole collection with The Punisher no less!
I love this article, now if you excuse me I have more reaction videos to watch.
@Expa0 That might be the Limited Run Games E3 Showcase. Yeah I love how they leaned into what E3 was in the early days. And then they dropped new games on us, I'm hyped for this one.
@MasterGraveheart Ha HA! I thought that was you! I remember that. Man I cheered when I saw Matt Bozon give the news himself on the Showcase. So many developers don't save their stuff, so it's great they were able to bring back Shantae Advance from the dead. There's a stream of Wayforward playing the prototype on YouTube. They did it during the Half-Genie Hero Kickstarter.
Yeah getting physical Zelda TOTK of course and- What?! A MAZINGER Z arcade game came out today on the eShop! I didn't even know this arcade game existed. It's a bullet heck shooter, based one of the first mecha anime by Go-Nagai. Why were we not informed??! I love Zelda and all but even I know there's more to life than Zelda, there's MAZINKAISER!
@nocdaes Yeah, I mostly agree with you. I'm enjoying the game but my expectations were high because Sonic All-Star Racing Transformed had a ton of Sega characters including deep cuts like Giles from Golden Axe and Joe Musashi from Shinobi. CTR Nitro Fueled is also stellar with it's roster and controls, it made me care about Crash Bandicoot lore. So yeah I am a little disappointed that there's no one notable from Final Fantasy I - IV or X - XV. I had this silly pipe dream that Aerith and Tifa might show up at the end of the updates - pipe dream.
But I'd argue the characters and tracks that are there are pretty good. It's mostly characters from Chocobo Dungeon games but there are some standouts including Cloud, Squall, Vivi, Steiner, Odin, Terra, two Cids, Gilgamesh, and ...Cactuar. There's tracks from V, VI, VIII, IX, and they just released one for Final Fantasy VII. I would say it did live up to some of it's potential, but I do agree it could have been greater like other kart racers that came recently before. I can't even blame you for not touching it again, they burned so many bridges at the beginning.
@EarthboundBenjy And for the record, thankfully I was patient enough to not spend extra money on the game and it paid off. I've only paid $50 for the game and that was it, but I did pay with my time oh boy. Things are drastically different now, if you're a Final Fantasy fan who also likes kart racing it is definitely worth checking out. And the characters, costumes, and extras are now more reasonable to unlock. It's a shame Square Enix's greed kept this game from being a home run, now after all the damage control it is....a triple base hit? Yeah it is fun, it's worth it...now.
@EarthboundBenjy They turned it into a reasonable video game. When the game launched Cloud could only be unlocked if you got all the way up to level 70, it was a crazy grind that took me weeks. But now you can just buy him in the in-game store for tickets that you earn through online play or story mode play. The funny thing is after the initial backlash they got from everyone and people dropping off, within a few weeks things got better they just gave us enough free mythril gems to get a season pass without spending extra money. But the grind was still there. There's not much of a grind now, things are a lot easier to earn in general and it's more fun.
Genshin Impact wouldn't run well on the Switch, as I see other people have mentioned. On PS4 when you load the game in front of the Adventurer's Guild desk, it takes about 15 seconds for Katherine to pop up behind the desk, another few seconds for the textures to pop on the building, another few moments for the texture to pop up on the clothes of your character, and some more moments for the rest of the UI to finish loading on the screen. There are some occasional incidents with frame rate drops, the entire desk not appearing for 12 seconds, and the glider texture not finished rendering even after you've been playing for a few minutes. Don't get me wrong I was loving Genshin Impact, the game is still very fun and still very playable, but take it from someone who has played on PS4 Pro for a year and half: You DON'T want to play this game on the Switch. Every time I run across these little moments, which don't necessarily hurt the gameplay, it always reminds me that the Switch wouldn't be able to properly this game because the PS4 Pro can barely run this game. If the Switch is all you have then okay I understand, but if you have a choice play it on the PS4 or the PC. I love my Switch, but I don't want to see this game on it.
@aaronsullivan Well said! I wanted to play Air Twister so bad after seeing it on NintendoLife, but I don't have an Apple phone. I watch trailers and let's plays just to see the awesome game play and hear the awesome music. I really hope this comes to consoles soon one day. I'm waiting with bated breath.
Has it been 20 years already? I still remember before the first game's release following every update of the game's development with Craig Harris, back when a certain other website was good. It was such an impressive technical marvel, pushing out so many colors and detailed animations on the humble Game Boy Color. I think it put a few early Game Boy Advance games to shame. It was such an interesting series pulling from classic gameplay motifs from Metroid, Castlevania, and Gradius before it became en vouge to do so. Now it's gone a bit beyond cult status and become a shining beloved series. It made me so happy to see the Mii Fighter representation in Smash Brothers Ultimate. They modeled her beautiful winsome hair, she can do the flash kick that she has in the first game, and she has the power kick from Pirate's Curse so I consider her a full character in Smash. I'm so happy for all the success in the series I never been happier to be a fan, a Day Zero Shantae Fan if you will. All I can say now is well done Erin and Matt Bozon, well done!!
YES! FINALLY! This is the update I've been waiting five years for! The 3DS and the Wii U had folders soon after launch, so I don't know why it took them so long to add this to the Switch but I'm glad it finally happened.
This damage control is funny, I was hoping Square Enix would do this to try to appease people and they did. Ha! The 500 mythril you get when you log in the game today is titled "Apologies for the Inconvenience." Oh I bet. Nintendolife, with all due respect, how was this number 2 in the best kart racers on the Switch? This is better than CTR Nitro Fueled? Really?
I respectfully disagree with Chocobo GP being #2. The steering doesn't feel as natural as Sonic All-Star Racing Transformed or even Nickelodeon Kart Racers 1, and nowhere near as good as CTR Nitro Fueled. My first impressions with the Chocobo and White Mage felt a bit clunky. I'll get back on the horse tomorrow, but it seems the controls feel more rigid than they should be. @KitsuneNight Where is your art again? The animation is great.
This game is incredible, you can switch the soundtrack to a chiptune arrange that sounds like Castlevania III which is a good thing. There's button mapping in the options menu, and a shopkeeper at the title screen who sells upgrades and does a pose of a certain "Bizarre" variety. Holding attack and pressing up gives you long range, and the helicopter spin deflects some fireballs and slows your descent. She even has the wind-up motion before she lashes out the Morning Star. Classic Castlevania fans, don't sleep on this one they made this game for us!
It's a good game on it's own, it's just not as good as the Metroid games that came before. It has several story and gameplay issues don't even exist in the previous games. -Samus suddenly being afraid though she's encountered a certain something seven times -You can only shoot missiles in 1st person -You have to lock-on to shoot missiles -You can't move when you are shooting missiles in 1st person There's even more I could list. Though the most infamous issue involves going into a lava area and the Varia suit. EVERYONE that I saw review the game at release, even Nintendo Power, mentions this moment. EVERYONE who has played the game knows what I'm talking about. I still enjoyed bits of the game, but it's far from the best.
@wuntyme8 @Themagusx1 @Ryu_Niiyama @garfreek @mattesdude @VIIIAxel @Anti-Matter @PLATINUM7 @Specter_of-the_OLED This game has me very hyped too. I forgot all about Chocobo Racing on PSOne, now thinking about tracking it down. The fact that has Diddy Kong Racing item leveling AND GILAMESH has me percolating. Like Cruis'n Blast, as soon as I laid eyes on ChocoboGP I wanted the game in my hands right now. Cruis'n Blast is tons of fun btw.
My physical copy is on the way! I've been wanting this game on the Switch since I played it a few years ago at a theater. This is fantastic, I've already seen a few minutes of footage from two videos but I'm so hyped I can't look at the full reviews I want to save some surprises. Over the top arcade racer visuals that we have craved, crazy tricks you can do with any vehicle including the helicopter, and most of all, insane drifting.
I'm so glad the ratings board leak came to fruition. Next to Metroid Dread Back from the Dead, this was my most anticipated game from E3. This makes me so happy, all this and a unicorn AND A PHYSICAL RELEASE?! SOLD. DAY ONE.
I played Cruis'n Blast at a movie theater a few years ago. I was so excited to play it, I think I embarrassed myself and made quite a commotion. I love flashy easy to pick up arcade racers, and got so sick of seeing the dozens upon dozens of simulation car games on all these consoles. After sitting through the years of delays for 90's Arcade Racer, which was announced for the Wii U and still isn't out yet, playing Cruis'n Blast was a great release.
At least now we have Horizon Chase Turbo and Hotshot Racing, but man Cruis'n Blast is so gorgeous. Here's hoping they will do a great justice of a direct port, maybe some extras. I truly hope this comes to fruition.
@Rob13 Not quite goosebumps, but I did close my eyes before opening this article thinking "please don't-don't play with me. Please don't be a tease, I've been wanting Cruis'n Blast to be on the Switch for years. Please be real."
Got that summer adventure outfit this time, glad they re-released it and the formal ones look classy. This niche series is doing really well now, good for them! Now...to make time to play the game.... Must ....pull away a little.... from Genshin.
Quite hyped to go through it again, already beat Champion's Road with Luigi and Rosalina, guess I'll do it with Toad this time. Also, ~DAISY PLEASE~. She's already in the Super Mario Run mobile game, and the two other princesses are playable in 3D World. It's time!
@Razer Much of what you said could also describe Smash Ultimate: "still in the top 10 best selling games even as recently as earlier this year. Any game that sells as much and as consistently would be considered a big deal." "Every publication in the history of video games sings its praises. The game has reached a mythical status that quite frankly, makes me feel bad for [HAL Laboratories/Nintendo] having to follow it up somehow." No one's denying GTAV's and Online's phenomenal success, we're just saying Smash Ultimate is still wildly successful in it's own right, so it gets a segment at the Game Awards. Highest selling fighting game of all time and all.
@CheekyZelda That's a fun list, but you may want to know that characters for Smash Brothers have to be from gaming, not from movies or animation or manga or comics they have to originate from video games. Master Kohga would be interesting, I personally want Urbosa but I'm not sure it'll happen.
@rjejr I agree. SEPHIROTH would have been the perfect boss for PlayStation All-Stars. Have you noticed it's a little funny that Smash Brothers has a roster of Sony related characters that rivals that game? (Solid Snake, Cloud, Joker, Richter Belmont, SEPHIROTH). Man this is the stuff of various Project M fanmods, but now it's real! It's mind-boggling. Also, the sword on that amiibo is going to be the size of a pencil.
@Leuke You have no idea. Final Fantasy VII Remake was nominated for Game of the Year and won RPG of the Year. This was a shocking and delightful surprise to millions all over the world, much like in the case of Minecraft Steve. He's not from an obscure game is what I'm saying lol.
@WickedUnicarnBoi Sephiroth is one of the baddest villains in videogames. Final Fantasy VII (look up the GameTrailers retrospective on it it's really good) and Minecraft made massive impacts on the gaming industry to be fair. It's kind of crazy that everybody's getting something they like in Smash.
@playstation_king Thank you for the info! I'm still debating whether or not I should get the starter pack or to just save my money in case they release some other kind of pack. Man if they could just release a reasonably priced DLC for some of the other characters that would be nice instead of having to go through the gacha method.
@playstation_king The game looks incredible yes but did you have any issues with input lag? I heard some people played a PS4 version about a month ago, possibly on the Pro, that had input lag. I'm so eager to play this game so I'm just curious.
By the way might I ask who the "talented" bride is on your profile?
@Nemesis666 I know, Kawade was still the director in Super before he left the series. He has his own flavor of creativity, when you go from the original trilogy and start playing the ones from Sticker Star onwards, and I played a lot of Sticker Star, you can feel something is missing. And a few years ago I found out why.
@Not_Soos Indeed. And I would still say that even Super Paper Mario is an RPG because it's a platforming action RPG. I still remember the moment when I reached 1 million experience points. That game was like a drug, in a good way.

When the NES came out there was some small print on the box that said, suggested ages 6 & up. I've found this to still be a good barometer for most kids playing traditional video games. Five and above is about right, most video games have been considered a fun recreation for big kids, teenagers, and up. Sometimes too young is too young. @wuntyme8 @Themagusx1 @Ryu_Niiyama @garfreek @mattesdude @VIIIAxel @Anti-Matter @PLATINUM7 @Specter_of-the_OLED
This game has me very hyped too.
Re: Nintendo Download: 16th September (North America)
@SergeEXE I agree, I'm glad that's also digital now so the rest of us peasants can play it.
WHERE IS CRUIS'N BLAST?! Sure I got the physical but still, it's on the eShop. That's my pick.
Re: Poll: Cruis'n Blast Is Out Today On Switch, Are You Getting It?
My physical copy is on the way! I've been wanting this game on the Switch since I played it a few years ago at a theater. This is fantastic, I've already seen a few minutes of footage from two videos but I'm so hyped I can't look at the full reviews I want to save some surprises. Over the top arcade racer visuals that we have craved, crazy tricks you can do with any vehicle including the helicopter, and most of all, insane drifting.
Re: Yes, Cruis'n Blast Is Getting A Physical Release On Switch
I'm so glad the ratings board leak came to fruition. Next to Metroid Dread Back from the Dead, this was my most anticipated game from E3. This makes me so happy, all this and a unicorn AND A PHYSICAL RELEASE?! SOLD. DAY ONE.
Re: Cruis'n Blast Could Be Coming To Nintendo Switch
Re: Cruis'n Blast Could Be Coming To Nintendo Switch
@Rob13 Not quite goosebumps, but I did close my eyes before opening this article thinking "please don't-don't play with me. Please don't be a tease, I've been wanting Cruis'n Blast to be on the Switch for years. Please be real."
Re: The Atelier Ryza Series Has Shipped One Million Copies, Koei Tecmo Celebrates With Free DLC Costumes
Got that summer adventure outfit this time, glad they re-released it and the formal ones look classy. This niche series is doing really well now, good for them! Now...to make time to play the game....
Must ....pull away a little.... from Genshin.
Re: Super Mario 3D World's Platforming Will Be "Snappier" On Switch, Gyro Support Included
Quite hyped to go through it again, already beat Champion's Road with Luigi and Rosalina, guess I'll do it with Toad this time. Also, ~DAISY PLEASE~. She's already in the Super Mario Run mobile game, and the two other princesses are playable in 3D World. It's time!
Re: Sephiroth From Final Fantasy VII Joins Super Smash Bros. Ultimate This Month
Re: Geno, Barret, Tifa And Aerith Join Super Smash Bros. Ultimate As Mii Fighter Costumes
@AnnoyingFrenzy Lol that's pretty funny. I am disappointed about Geno, but figured since sephiroth got in....yeah.
Re: Sephiroth From Final Fantasy VII Joins Super Smash Bros. Ultimate This Month
@rjejr Whoa nice! You ballin'.
Re: Sephiroth From Final Fantasy VII Joins Super Smash Bros. Ultimate This Month
@CheekyZelda That's a fun list, but you may want to know that characters for Smash Brothers have to be from gaming, not from movies or animation or manga or comics they have to originate from video games. Master Kohga would be interesting, I personally want Urbosa but I'm not sure it'll happen.
Re: Sephiroth From Final Fantasy VII Joins Super Smash Bros. Ultimate This Month
@Robzilla Now HE was a hard boss.
Re: Sephiroth From Final Fantasy VII Joins Super Smash Bros. Ultimate This Month
Re: Sephiroth From Final Fantasy VII Joins Super Smash Bros. Ultimate This Month
@Leuke You have no idea.
Final Fantasy VII Remake was nominated for Game of the Year and won RPG of the Year. This was a shocking and delightful surprise to millions all over the world, much like in the case of Minecraft Steve. He's not from an obscure game is what I'm saying lol.
Re: Sephiroth From Final Fantasy VII Joins Super Smash Bros. Ultimate This Month
Re: Poll: Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon & The Blade Of Light Is Out Today, Are You Getting It?
I prefer the DS version, I'll get it at some point on Wii U Virtual Console.
Re: Poll: What Was The Best Switch Launch Game (That Wasn't Zelda: Breath Of The Wild)?
WHERE'S Blaster Master Zero?! THAT is my pick.
Re: Atelier Ryza 2 Won't Be Censored In The West, Says Koei Tecmo
@ritouf Just curious what did they do to my Genshin Impact?
Re: Video: Genshin Impact Gets A New Story Trailer Ahead On September Multiformat Debut
@playstation_king Thank you for the info! I'm still debating whether or not I should get the starter pack or to just save my money in case they release some other kind of pack. Man if they could just release a reasonably priced DLC for some of the other characters that would be nice instead of having to go through the gacha method.
Re: Video: Genshin Impact Gets A New Story Trailer Ahead On September Multiformat Debut
Re: Paper Mario Producer Says His Team Has "Almost Complete Control" Over Creative Direction
......Yep I'm out. This sounds complicated for the team, more complicated than it should be.
I'm out.
Re: Paper Mario Producer Says He's "Not Opposed To The Fans' Opinions"
@Nemesis666 I know, Kawade was still the director in Super before he left the series. He has his own flavor of creativity, when you go from the original trilogy and start playing the ones from Sticker Star onwards, and I played a lot of Sticker Star, you can feel something is missing. And a few years ago I found out why.
Re: Paper Mario Producer Says He's "Not Opposed To The Fans' Opinions"
@Not_Soos Indeed. And I would still say that even Super Paper Mario is an RPG because it's a platforming action RPG. I still remember the moment when I reached 1 million experience points. That game was like a drug, in a good way.
