Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield Beats Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order To Claim Number One Spot (UK)

I'm really enjoying it. Put in nearly 15 hours without even realising it. I've not even had much of a look at the wild area yet. Two thumbs up from me. Glad it's doing well, not that its surprising it is Pokemon after all. All the controversy came from a vocal minority who care about national dex, fps and shadows.

I think the reduced dex is actually a benefit it makes it much more interesting to see what Pokemon turns up next. I might actually try to catch them all this time! The whole experience feels fresher than it has in years.

Someone should set up a website that reviews game reviews! There seems to be an audience! Jeepers!

I’ve found a nice collection of sites whose opinion I value and I Dont really pay much attention to the rest. If I find a site I don’t click with I just don’t go there. Simple! All I want from a reviewer is to tell me what they think, what they like, what they don’t, not pander to some imaginary generic gamer.

Re: Pokémon: Let's Go Sells 3 Million Copies In First Week, Becomes Fastest-Selling Game On Switch

TommyRabbit

Trouble is some people don't want this to exist, at least in this form, so it definitely shouldn't exist just because lots of people do want it. Companies like Game Freak should get approval from the Council of Fans before they do anything in case it displeases the sacred elders and they have to release their true weapons, review bombs and angry comments. Buying these games isn't optional, even for people that don't like the look of it, so no wonder its sold well. If only the people who don't want it could just leave it and play something else until generation 8 arrives. If only that was an option.

Re: Soapbox: Don't Listen To The Pokémon: Let’s Go Haters - The Game Has Definitely Found Its Audience

TommyRabbit

Do people know that buying these games is completely optional? That there are more traditional sequels coming possibly as soon as next year? That not every game is for everyone? It’s okay for a company to make something you don’t want.

I can understand not liking the look of these games, not being interested in them and not buying them. What I can’t understand is why some people are so angry and upset about their very existence. If you don’t like the look, idea or price of them just don’t buy them. Don’t have a review bomb hissy fit or shout at everyone who does like them. Generation 8 is on the way, forget about Let’s Go and focus on looking forward to them.

Re: Nintendo Announces Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu! and Let’s Go Eevee! For Nintendo Switch

TommyRabbit

@Reignmaker it is weird how people get outraged when they don’t want something. They take it weirdly personal. Buying is totally optional and it’s perfectly fine to not want it but this looks like it will be really popular, especially in japan. There’s a new ‘proper’ game coming but in the meantime people can play this if they like, and I’m sure it will do wonders for switch sales. Struggling to see how this is a bad thing!

Re: Overwatch Producer Discusses The Possibility Of Bringing The Game To Switch

TommyRabbit

@SmaggTheSmug in terms of the MtG situation, if you’re referring to the mtghq banning I think wotc did the right thing banning him. He’s a pretty toxic YouTube drama chaser who was prominently bringing and encouraging some horrid behaviour to what is a mostly really nice community. As it’s a game that relys on having a real life community I think it was right for them to step in.
It’s a shame for HQ, who in older videos could be quite likeable but the more he doubled down on his edgelord for views personality the less I found myself able to watch his videos. I used to enjoy his pack openings a lot. I think wotc we’re right to get involved in this case but I think it’s a risky line to tread and I hope it’s not something they’ll have to do often. HQ was sort of public figure which I think factors into why Wotc didn’t ignore the situation, he was representing their game in a way they felt was very negative.
The modern reality is games aren’t self contained any more and things that happen on social media platforms can feed into a games community, so company’s can’t ignore it, it’s just how they do it that will the biggest issue going further.

Ps. Nice to see another MtG player down here! I’d love Magic Arena to make it to Switch!

Re: Labo's Cardboard Revolution Adds Almost $1.4 billion to Nintendo's Value

TommyRabbit

@gatorboi352 Would you say it’s a big problem if it’s just a brief fad? Something temporarily super popular before the world moves on. That seems like a perfectly fine proposition to me. I think that Labo will have a market for maybe a year or two then it will phase out. It will make Nintendo some money while it’s popular, help sell switches increasing its user base, which in turn will encourage other developers. Best of all when the toy cons are no longer wanted they can be recycled rather than going to landfill. a fun chapter for those that are interested. I can’t see a problem with this.

Re: Feature: Here's What Was Announced During The January 2018 Nintendo Direct Mini

TommyRabbit

@gatorboi352 I work from home and often play in the room with the TV in it but still always opt for portable mode. Just my preference. That I can play any game wherever I am is a big bonus, the sleep mode letting me stop and start at any part even more so. It's a big enough deal for me that rebuying a game where the only real addition is portability + sleep mode is a major selling point. The last game i played on WiiU was Paper Mario, and I loved it but I struggled to find enough time to sit in front of tV and play to the next save point. On switch I find finding time to game so effortless.

Re: Feature: Here's What Was Announced During The January 2018 Nintendo Direct Mini

@gatorboi352 Its working for me. I prefer to play on a portable and struggle to find time for playing on the TV. I just find playing on a portable more comfortable. I have DKCTF on wiiU but only played the first world, I'll happily rebuy it on Switch where its portability means I'll finally be able to give it the time it deserves. Currently enjoying Skyrim, which is a game I'd never have found time for as a TV only game but thanks to Switch I'm squeezing it into any break I get. Portable versions of games is a big thing for me at least. I'm hoping for lots more portable ports, the more the merrier!

Re: Wii U's Failure Is Responsible For Switch's Success, Says Reggie

TommyRabbit

The Switch is everything I wanted the WiiU to be. As much as I loved it I always felt frustrated that the gamepad was tied to the TV. It had some great games though and even though they offend some people for some reason I hope they continue to make DX versions of its best games. Theres a big audience that missed out on them the first time, give them a chance to play them. Then people like me have the choice of double dipping if we want too. So many great games I'd happily re-buy so that I can put some proper time into now the Switch can free them from the front room. Everyone that already has them and doesn't want to re-buy them: Y O U D O N O T H A V E T O! Choices are good!

Re: Review: DOOM (Switch)

TommyRabbit

@electrolite77 I've never understood the people that complain about ports but then demand Virtual console, which is a fiesta of ports! Also when the same people demand third party games, and then when we get games like this also complain that it's too old. It's newer than Super Mario World! To be clear I want Virtual Console and whatever ports are coming, the more games the merrier. Even though I'm tempted I think this game is probably too gruesome for me but for people that want it its great the options there. Options are good.

Re: Analysis: Switch Drives Impressive Sales as Nintendo Delivers Q2 Profits

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Yeah, and an alarm clock, a calculator, a calendar, one of those apps that converts different kinds of measurements (e.g miles into kilometers), a way to use the joycons as spirit levels, a virtual bubble wrap popping thing, a sat nav, a digital personal journal, a word processor, a pdf reader, tax calculator would be good too.

Or they could focus their time and money on making games and keeping the OS nice, simple and uncluttlered. I'll use my phone for all the rest.
