Re: The Day-One Update For Super Mario 3D All-Stars Is Now Live (Version 1.0.1)

Thannus

@ilh Day one patches do not mean it’s unready to ship. They’re usually minor bug fixes or patches that barely impact the game’s performance. They’re no more impactful than a future bug fix or patch.
Day one patches are literally usually just fixes to issues found after publishing. If it wasn’t in a day one patch but instead in a later update, no one would bat an eye.

It isn’t like Pokémon SwSh or ACNH where they’re making you get the full game gradually - you have the full product with this. The day one bug fix does not change this.

Re: Netflix's Resident Evil Series Has Been Officially Confirmed, First Details Released

Thannus

Netflix could do a lot of great things.

They could keep making shows like The Umbrella Academy, The Dark Crystal AoR, Love Death Robots, or Castlevania, which are good and have actual effort put into them.

Or they could keep digging up more teenie bopper "coming of age" crap like this that rarely works well (the only instance REALLY being Stranger Things), like the Avatar remake, 13 Reasons Why, Sabrina, and now this.

Re: EA Intends To "Double Down" On Star Wars Video Game Development

Thannus

As much of a fan as I am for Battlefront, Squadrons and Fallen Order, I don’t see it really likely that any of these are coming to Switch. I don’t really see,
overall, how this relates to Switch anyhow, even if it is EA.
LEGO Star Wars being on Switch doesn’t qualify this for relevancy, EA isn’t involved with that.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Switch Turns 3: Challenges Await, But What A Ride So Far

Thannus

I get we don't have a 2020 big direct yet, but it annoys me when people act like Nintendo won't have anything big for this year. They always have more than a few major titles every year, and a lack of a direct isn't going to change that. Just because all we know about are XCDE and ACNH doesn't mean there isn't anything else, because there most definitely is.

Re: E3 2020 "Moving Ahead Full Speed" Despite Coronavirus Concerns

Thannus

Todd Howard walks onstage.
TH: "We hope you've all had a great year with video games. This year, we want to immerse you like never before."
A panel opens on the back wall, revealing an entire silo of activated nuclear missiles.
"We're going to eliminate coronavirus - AND you're going to get to play a REALLY LONG game of Fallout."

Re: id Software's Marty Stratton "Stunned" By DOOM Eternal Switch Port, Thinks People Are Going To "Love It"

Thannus

I am very happy Bethesda and Nintendo suddenly have such a tight-knit relationship. While I'm slightly disappointed we likely won't get any higher-end Fallout or Elder Scrolls title that is FO4+ or ES6+, it's nice to see older ES and Doom games on it, as well as the newer Wolfenstein games. The Evil Within and Fallout in any capacity would be nice for the Switch.

Re: You Can Now Get Another 35 Pokémon In Sword And Shield

Thannus

@CapnRustyBeard A few of the legendaries included for this Home update were already confirmed to be findable in the DLC expansions, so the dex will probably update around the release of those. Since the Pokemon in the DLCs are still obtainable for free, the dex expansion will likely be free as well.

Re: Feature: Best Metroid Games Of All Time

Thannus

I'm gonna probably be disliked for this, but minor correction:
There is only one planet in Metroid Prime (minus Frigate Orpheon, but you're only there for about 10 minutes so it doesn't really count, and it's a ship, not a planet, anyway), Tallon IV. In Metroid Prime II, there's TECHNICALLY only one planet, Aether, though it's duplicated and modified for Dark Aether.
Prime 3 is where we get a bunch of planets and it's where exploration is more varied (notice, I don't believe "varied" to be interchangeable with "exciting". Prime 3 is egregiously linear.)

Re: Reminder: Nintendo Rolls Out Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Version 7.0 Next Week

Thannus

@the_beaver Almost certainly includes event spirits that were circulating from 6.0 to now. Every major update always adds them in permanently, so the Tetris, Resident Evil, and Astral Chain spirits are pretty much guaranteed. The ones for the Kunio-Kun event are likely to be held off until 8.0 since that event starts only a week before 7.0's release.
