@Jingo_Unchained I doubt Avengers 2 will be releasing any time soon. LEGO is releasing/just released a compilation of the first three LEGO Marvel games a la the method they re-released the LEGO Harry Potter games.
@Realnoize I would love this as well, but unfortunately I doubt they plan to do away with the system of gameplay that's been getting them money. On the other hand, if this "new" game just ends up being an HD compilation of the last four LEGO Star Wars games, plus content from the four new movies and then some, I'd be actually cool with that.
@Joyfultoad "Everyone disliked that" Real talk though I'm gonna miss Reggie. He essentually became in charge of the American localization team and was the root for most American Nintendo fans. I don't think Nintendo would be in the same place as it is today without him.
Fans: Hey LEGO Star Wars or maybe even Battlefront or Fallen Order would be cool for Switch. Nintendo: DID SOMEONE SAY.... PIIIIIIIIINBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALL?
Honestly though, there's so many leaks recently that are pretty much valid in every way I'm not surprised people think there's a Direct coming, regardless of whether or not a Direct actually is coming.
I didn't use Miiverse often, and while some features I did enjoy (Pikmin 3 pictures, Mario Maker comments, Splatoon drawings) went away with it, I'm not too affected by its removal. You can still share levels in Super Mario Maker for Wii U, yes, and yes, it is a bit more complicated now. But I doubt it'd be such a large issue for SMM2.
Massive Zelda fan here - I will say Zelda II is the only Zelda game I dislike playing. HOWEVER, this does not make it an inherently bad game, regardless of the 3/10 rating I bestowed upon it in my personal collection. That rating only reflects my personal opinion on the enjoyment I have, not on the actual quality.
Could it have been better? Yes. Even the best games ever made - Twilight Princess, The Last of Us, Super Mario 64, to name a few out of many - could have stark improvements made to them. But I think Zelda II still holds an important place in Nintendo's history, and it was a time long ago back when Nintendo was less afraid to try new things. One could argue that Breath of the Wild is trying so many new things - but when you get to the nitty-gritty, aside from freedom of choice, an open world, and... well, jumping... Breath of the Wild just carries on the same tried and true formula Ocarina of Time established. Zelda II is the only vastly different Zelda game from all others. And that's important.
My personal confidence in this film isn't high. From what I've seen, everyone else's confidence in it isn't too high either. That being said, it does not mean I won't be willing to give it a chance. It's unfortunately become uniform in popular culture to be heavily judgemental of something before it ever really gets its chance to grow (I'd know, I'm part of the heaping mess of salt and toxic waste that is the Star Wars fandom). So even though my hopes aren't high, I encourage you - give Sonic the Hedgehog a chance. It may end up being a better movie than we're all poising it to be. Detective Pikachu could be a terrible movie and we all don't know it yet (I hope not, that movie looks AMAZING). Don't jump to conclusions based on a small part of something's content before you see the greater chunks of it.
I played the demo, and I will admit it did not impress me too much. I will say I by no means find the game to be bad - I'd gladly buy it if I was dry on the games I already had. But I have no desire to pick it up and play it for a serious time.
While, like everyone else, I'd be hopeful for a Nintendo Direct, I cannot be certain on its likelihood. What I do find likely is that Nintendo will do something as a send-off for Reggie. It'd be a disrespect to his final days in the company otherwise.
@Itzdmo I agree with everything you said... except for where it got political. But I have no intention to talk about that part. The basis is that the merchandising and mass advertisement of the game have drawn more and more children, and the constant and incessant stream of updates and videos being produced keep people playing and drawn in. Playing games is great - I'll say that's what the "G" in my name stands for. But when it reaches a point where it's addictive to the same extent as a breakfast cereal, there's an issue.
I hate to be the buzzkill here, but the VR isn't in first person. When I heard Breath of the Wild was being given Labo VR support, I was so excited. I then watched the trailer, and the excitement was dulled when I found out it's still in third person, thus... negating the purpose of VR. If it's in VR, aren't you supposed to feel immersed? Because the most this VR kit really makes you do is make your head the camera instead of the control stick. The Super Mario Odyssey support is honestly less disappointing. Yes, unlike BotW you can't play the actual game through, but they actually have some side things and new objectives set side for the Mario Odyssey. And made it more like you're interacting with Mario like he's a Pikmin instead of playing as Mario in a third person perspective. Overall, this disappoints me.
It might work. I hear 3D platformers are great for VR, so I have no doubt Odyssey will be fine. But... I don't have much hope for the Labo's BotW support.
Donkey Kong: The smash arcade hit that marked the true beginning of Nintendo and two of their most popular franchises. Donkey Kong Jr.: The classic that you've all heard of, with real roots to the modern Donkey Kong franchise. Donkey Kong 3: bug man spray monke
I fell out of grace with the game in early 2017. But this past year, especially since Let's Go! came out, I've been trying to grind in the game's missions so I can push for Meltan and the Alolan forms.
While this is an odd comment to put on a news post about a company that ISN'T doing this, I'd like to point out a LOT of companies are going the route Nintendo's started going back in 2014. We're getting a significantly lower number of stage-floor presentations than we did ever. And even though PlayStation won't have an E3 presence, I would not be surprised if they had a State of Play/knockoff Direct around that time.
@MagnaRoader The reason they haven't released or confirmed it in any capacity yet likely has to do with the absolutely loaded release schedule Nintendo has this year. If we did get a reveal for it this year, I wouldn't be surprised if the date on Best Buy was a placeholder and it actually released next year. A huge hindrance in the gaming industry is self-competition, which is what ultimately caused Atari's downfall.
I'm hoping they at least give American fans an eventual chance to get EarthBound Beginnings (since it was finally released on Wii U eShop in America for the first time) and (this is a stretch) maybe Fire Emblem.
This is by far the greatest game ever made, in my personal opinion. Not only does the darkest entry in the Zelda franchise leave its mark for future titles, but it provides a refereshing look into a new realm that isn't even close to a carbon copy of the legendary "Dark World". At times the game can be repetitive in nature (the tears of light are unbearable), but it more than makes of for this flaw with an excellent story and amazing entry in the series. It is really biased with me, but I will stand in my opinion that this is not only the greatest Zelda title ever made, but the greatest game ever made, period. It's not a popular opinion at all, but it's the one I hold.
@PBandSmelly I hear you. Environmentally, ALBW is immensely similar to ALTTP. But in a tense of plot and theme, while having the same foundation they both stray off in different directions, which is what makes ALBW a different game in the end.
@PBandSmelly Link to the Past has only been ported to Game Boy Advance physically, last I checked. Virtual console is more emulation than a port or remake.
I've only ever played two Final Fantasy games, and never really got into either. However, with VII coming to Switch, and seeing as its most widely regarded as one of the best (not taking opinions, just looking at the most popular here), it might be a good idea to start with this one.
@kingbk Metroid Prime 4 announcement unlikely. Development restarted back in January this year so it's doubtful they have anything ready to really show. Granted, it's possible, but... extremely unlikely. Oddly, while we can't really confirm anything, part of me wants to hate the idea of a Switch mini/Pro. It's odd, I don't know why I do.
