Re: Nintendo Is Sorry That The Wii U's TVii Service Hasn't Launched In The UK Yet

Taffy

The funny thing though is that the Wii has the Iplayer which makes it a more media capable system then the Wii U. Heck I'd be happy to watch the Iplayer through Wii mode but they've removed it!

Even the videos on the e-shop buffer way too much, a 2 minute trailer usually takes about 10 to watch, which is odd cause I can watch them with no problems on the youtube app on my Wii U.

If the PS4 and Xbone can have media functions at launch, why can't my Wii U have them a year after its own?

Re: A Third-Party "Secret Developer" Gives an Inside Story of Working on Wii U

Taffy

Having owned a 360 I think an under powered CPU makes sense. Last Gen we had the RROD for 360 and YLOD (to a lesser scale) on the PS3. I think an under powered CPU makes for a more reliable piece of hardware, atleast by looking at previous generations, I'm no tech expert.

With regards to who this anonymous source is, wasn't there an EA guy saying some rather negative things about the Wii U:

Re: Sega Has No Plans To Bring Alien: Isolation To The Wii U

Taffy

@Nico07 OK I'll bite, you do know that SC:BL on the Wii U was the only one which ran in native 720p, didn't have the framerate the PS3 has or screen tearing issues the PS3 and the 360 have. Yes the Wii U version has god awful load times and the odd bland texture but it is not visibly the same as the others.

But the originally argument wasn't about visuals but of a certain game not coming to my favorite platform. Watchdog is (unless ubisoft do an AC 4, which I got for the Wii U) going to have all the bells and whistles of the others with gamepad integration and better visuals then last gen but the the likely outcome is that it is going to be the worst selling version of all platforms given current performance of third party games on it.

Re: Sega Has No Plans To Bring Alien: Isolation To The Wii U

Taffy

Hate to say this but after Watchdogs, the only third party support we're going to get is from e-shop. And let's be realistic here people, Watchdogs is going to tank on the Wii U just like Splinter Cell Blacklist did. AND don't come back with the nonsense of the local co-op missing cause that's the least used aspect in those type of games, COD on the Wii sold decent and that didn't have local multi-player either!!

Re: PS4 and Xbox One Surpass Wii U Lifetime Sales in the UK

Taffy

@unrandomsam
The internet browser wasn't introduced until later and it wasn't until later that it started to perform well sales wise. When I mention TV services I was referring to on demand TV such as BBC Iplayer, 4 Ondemand, Demand 5, Skysports etc... all of which aren't available on the Wii U but will be available on both Xbone and PS4 (with the exception of Sky)

Re: PS4 and Xbox One Surpass Wii U Lifetime Sales in the UK

Taffy

The reason why the 360 outsold the Wii in the UK wasn't because of it's massive library of exclusive content cause over the last 2 years there hasn't been anything apart from Halo 4. The reason for it was because they made it a universal box which had a decent library of games, not so bad internet browser and most importantly (for sales of the system) a fully functional television and movie service.

Both the PS4 and Xbone have or will have these features available close to launch yet in the UK the TVii service is still unavailable a year after launch. This along with the anemic software support from both first and third parties along with the low advert presence has only compounded Nintendo's situation in the UK.

Re: EA Germany Survey Fails To Acknowledge The Wii U

Taffy

There's a typo, you said that EA released FIFA 13 on the Wii U when it was actually FIFA 12, problem is no-one told EA of the mistake either. I'm no EA hater, have Need for speed on the U and will get Mass Effect 3 later now that it's at a decent price but EA can't act the victim in all this either. I really want EA back on the U only cause they have the license for Star Wars now

Re: Feature: The Big Nintendo Direct Summary - 13th November Broadcasts

Taffy

Pretty happy with the direct myself, would still love to hear something about TVii over in Europe though. It says on the Nintendo UK website:

Nintendo TVii will be available in selected regions throughout Europe in 2013.
More details will be announced in due course.

Don't mean to rush you Nintendo but we're half way through November and heard diddly squat!

Re: F1 Race Stars Aims To Scratch Your Mario Kart Itch On Wii U This Christmas

Taffy

Hmmm, maybe they're trying to recover losses what with F1 2013 selling only 160,000 units on the XBOX 360 and PS3 COMBINED!
Be as pumped as you want but I really think this next gen is going to see a shrink in market penetration. If these Dev's are so pumped then why are Titan Fall, Wolfenstien, AC 4, Watchdogs, Fifa, Madden, NBA, 2K14, Battlefield 4, Need for Speed Rivals and Destiny all coming out for both current AND next-gen.

Re: Talking Point: With Calls for Nintendo to Follow the Crowd, It Faces a Dilemma

Taffy

The only thing Nintendo need to do is release a system with all the features ready at launch.
The Wii didn't have online multiplayer until Battalion Wars 2 and Mario Super Strikers Charged released on it.
The 3DS didn't have the internet browser available for a while and I've gotten fed up of bringing up TVii not being released in Europe (and not fully ready in NTSC either).
Their games are great, but release a complete console Nintendo!

Re: Say Hello To The Nintendo 2DS - A 3DS without 3D

Taffy

Speaking with a level head, this actually makes sense from a business perspective. Like it or not the 3DS is competing with mobiles and tablets, by reducing the price this makes the 2DS more competitive.

Ugly as it may be, those shoulder buttons like a lot more comfortable then the ones on my 3DS.

Re: Splinter Cell Blacklist Wii U Version's Performance Put Under the Spotlight

Taffy

Ok seeing some people write here saying that Ubisoft are lazy developers and comparing the graphically performance of it to Pikmin 3 need to stop right now. For one thing Splintercell Black List is a multi-platform release where as Pikmin 3 was built from the ground up for the Wii U. You don't think it's a good excuse then look at The Last Of Us for the PS3 and compare that to the PS3 version of SPBL.

Re: Sales Data Demonstrates a Slow Wii to Wii U Transition Compared to Past Generations

Taffy

Can't say i'm surprised that that the Sony consoles continued good sales AFTER the launch of their successors cause Sony supported them. God of War 2 came out during the launch period of the PS3 and it also received several ports from the PSP later on(ironic when you think that at the beginning the PSP was filled with PS2 ports). Then look at the nintendo consoles, the software support usually ends about a year BEFORE the new console arrives!
