Re: Satoru Iwata Cites Poor Basic Wii U Sales To Rule Out Price Cut Benefits

Taffy

From my point of view, apart from the paltry internal storage of both versions, the problem with the Wii U is that apart from Lego City and Zombie U there are no other games which can ONLY be played with the gamepad (that i can think off).

Look at all the other games in its library and they can all be played with the Wii-mote or the pro controller, pardon me but I thought the Wii U was suppose to provide a new gaming experience.

When I bought the Wii at launch I could only play Wii Sports and Twilight Princess with the Wii-mote and nunchuck. Couldn't use a gamecube controller for those games.

Re: Iwata: No Chance Of Nintendo's "Precious Resources" Coming To Other Platforms

Taffy

I think the next gen is in for a big surprise after the holiday bump. With more expensive consoles (and games) coming and still a lot of support for current gen games and only higher resolutions to differentiate themselves are people really going to get a PS4 and £60 for the latest COD/FIFA/Battlefield when they can get it on the PS3 for £45 and play it online with that console for free.

Re: IGN Editor: If Wii U Doesn't Pick Up, Nintendo Should Look To New Hardware

Taffy

Can people stop having a go at Nintendo life just cause they report some bad news. Whenever there's some bad news about the Wii U all you get is people putting their fingers in their ears and going "LA LA LA LA LA!!".

They cover news, good or bad. And let's be realistic here, things for the Wii U(not 3DS) have been less then ideal with gimped ports, poor sales and certain third party publishers having less then diplomatic opinions about the hardware, all the while Nintendo does zero damage control.

Re: Looks Like Batman: Arkham Origins Isn't Getting Online Play On Wii U

Taffy

Can't really say if the multiplayer would be good or bad cause nothing has been said about it but there really is no reason for this not to be included on the Wii U.

Anyone want a good third person action game for the Wii U with multiplayer just get AC 4, SP: BL or W_D. And atleast ubisoft have the decency to make collector's editions for two of those games for people who are into that sort of stuff.

Vote with your wallets people, show that GOOD third party games can sell on the Wii U!

Re: Nintendo Finally Confirms Call of Duty: Ghosts Is Coming To Wii U

Taffy

Can't understand the comments here sometimes. When you hear of a company skipping the Wii U it's filled with "Lazy company is not getting my money" or "Good, wasn't going to buy it anyway!".
But with this game the comments are "Lazy company is not getting my money" or "Good, wasn't going to buy it anyway!". Seems like there's no pleasing some people. I get it, BLOPS2 didn't come with DLC but can you really expect a company to put in the effort to code the DLC for a platform which has such a small install base when the other versions sold in the 10's of millions EACH?
I'm not 100% sure it's the company's that are to blame, we've heard from Capcom that they are having a nightmare trying to get one of their games on the eshop (can't remember what it's called) and the MASSIVE delay in announcing the DLC for Injustice compared to the other versions.

Re: Codemasters: F1 2013 Would Need To Be "A Very Different Game" To Run On Wii U

Taffy

I'm still playing F1 2009 on the Wii so i'm good. I hear people saying that Codemasters are being lazy but look at from their persepctive, the Wii U is not generating as much buzz as the PS4 or Xbox1. Don't believe me check what are the top pre-orders on the online retailers.

Now I'm not going to say that the WiiU is doomed but Nintendo really need to buck their ideas up. The PS3 and 360 offer more media functionality, have more upcoming games, more storage memory and are CHEAPER then the Wii U.

I said before that I was going to trade in my 360 for a Wii U but i'm actually considering just getting eshop points cause I just playing nothing but the 3DS and Wii at the moment and atleast the Wii has the BBC Iplayer!!!

Re: Soapbox: Retail Games Cost Too Much To Download From The eShop

Taffy

Can't say that this is surprising though. The Xbox live has regular sales for gold members on both first and third party sales. Both PS3 and 360 had their respective "Platinum" and "Classic" series. Nintendo on the other hand has very expensive first party games (have a look at Pilotwings Resort on the eshop and then look at retail) plus the never had the "player's choice" for the Wii or DS (Nintendo selects don't count as they were only a select few first party)

Re: Soapbox: Why Region Locking Is A Total Non-Issue

Taffy

Speaking from a PAL area, I really wanted Excitebots and Kirby's 20th anniversary collection. I don't see how removing region locks will effect Nintendo's relationship with their trade partners as most people will opt for the local option cause of P&P, but if my only option to get a certain game is from another region I should be able to play that game if I have purchased said item legitimately!

Re: Pachter: Nintendo Has Lost Its "Mojo"

Taffy

I wouldn't worry too much. He said the same thing about the 3DS, now he says that only smart phones/tablets and 3DS are viable options in the handheld market. In all honesty i expect the PS4 and XBOX1 to fly of the shelfs in November and December but they will fall sharply come January.

Re: Bethesda Has No Current Plans For Wii U or Handhelds

Taffy

Never played a Bethesda game before Skyrim and can't say i'll play another one again. I gave in into on the hype and praise and got it on the 360 but my goodness does it have the worst combat EVER!!!
I will say that they make great stories, but great games.... no, no way. If they had Skyrim with Zelda's (or even Fable's) combat then yes.

Re: Waiting For Wii U To Drop In Price? Not Going To Happen, Says Nintendo

Taffy

Do you remember in 2012 when everyone was asking them during e3 if a new 3DS was coming out and all you got was the usual bs "we believe the current model available offers the best value for consumer, blah, blah, blah.." and then 2 weeks later they announce the 3DS XL.

I'm not saying that they will announce a price drop soon but it's POSSIBLE that they'll announce a price drop later in the year. From a business stand point it makes more sense to announce a drop later so that you can sell the unit at the highest R.R.P to maximise profits.... oh god I sound like Patcher, i'm going for a shower!!!

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Wii U Lineup Makes Commercial Sense

Taffy

For me the most exciting part of the direct Was "X". The Direct was a disappointment in the sense that I wasn't surprised by anything, do any of you remember back in 2009 when they finished with a trailer for Other M - That's what they needed.

A sequel to a game which was released 3 years ago (and re-released a few weeks ago) is not that much of a WOW. To be honest I think it would have been better if they didn't announce "X" way back and announced it now but I guess hindsight is a beautiful thing.

Re: Poll: Do You Follow and Watch Rival Console Reveals?

Taffy

The Xbox One console is massive in size. I think i'll wait for the Wii U to go down in price and stick with that, in no rush though still trying to clear my Wii collection. Also read the latest Iwata asks talking to the guys from N.E.R.D... makes me believe they are going to increase the media functions of the Wii U

Re: EA Developing Frostbite Engine For Mobile, But Not Wii U

Taffy

@Peach64 Seeing as how the Unreal engine has been scaled on IOS with games like Infinity Blade, as a business decision it would make more sense for EA to make the Frostbite scaled to mobile platforms. Given how they recently said that they are focused on becoming more profit efficient it would make more business sense to scale said engine rather then creating a new one from scatch... it's all about the bottom line at the end of the day.

Re: Madden NFL Is Skipping Nintendo Systems For The First Time Since 1991

Taffy

@Peach64 Have to disagree on a few points. NFS is not a good example of a game that should have sold well on the WiiU, a game which was already released on other platforms which have a larger online player count and confirmed support of DLC. Other examples would be Madden which 13 which did not have the Infinity engine on it. Mass Effect 3 I don't need to explain.

Why should WiiU owners pay the same price as other console owners for an inferior product. Same goes with Black Ops 2 which didn't have elite support, livestream and again DLC.

I agree that Nintendo haven't made a good push to promote the system but some of these publisher's haven't given consumers a good reason to get their games either. Ask yourself this, would EA release a game on the next gen consoles with certain features absent?
