Re: Cave Story Approved And Set For Release On The European eShop

Taffy

Day 1 purchase for me, last played it on the Wii. Best 1000 points I ever spent... Apart from Lost Winds... and Lost Winds 2: Winter of the Melodias.. and Fast Racing League... and Retro City Rampage... and the Strong Bad games... and the Rebirth games, were was I going with this?

Re: Nintendo Download: 28th March 2013 (Europe)

Taffy

@ULTRA-64 have to agree with you there. When you compare the functionality of the other 2 consoles on the market selling for less with bigger hard drives and software libraries it's difficult to find the value in the Wii U, that's why i'm holding off cause at the moment my Wii and 360 cover all my entertainment needs and my 3DS is my current main gaming console

Re: Pachter: Wii U Will Sell Between 30 to 50 Million Units During Its Lifetime

Taffy

One thing he failed to mention in the LTD sales of the 360 and the PS3 is the RROD and YLOD issues. I would imagine a few million of those would be in relation to those issues.

Patcher also has a history of getting things wrong. Even at the VGA's he said that none of the download only games would win GOTY and then The Walking Dead gets it. He also said that Wii Fit would be a flop so I really wouldn't worry about what he predicts.

Re: Review: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate (3DS)

Taffy

A few people here are mentioning the IGN review but you have to remember there will always be difference in opinions. If you want to make the best decision look around the web* and make your own opinion and also download the demo.... it's free so you've got no risk there. I'm planning on getting the game simply due to my experience with the demo.

*There are a few other sites which have given this game a solid score

Re: Nintendo Download: 7th February 2013 (Europe)

Taffy

@Windy Although it's appreciated that you're boycotting them until they release it here in the PAL area i doubt that they ever will now that there is Cave Story 3D over here. I guess they would prefer it if us PAL people bought that version instead :

Re: So, How Is The Wii U Doing In The UK?

Taffy

Just me two cents on the situation:

Wii U Deluxe edition - £300
Hard drive - 32 GB
Optical media playback - No
Streaming Media services - Netflix, Lovefilm, Youtube
Most anticipated 1st party game before June 2013 - Pikmin 3
Most Anticipated 3rd party game before June 2013 - Monster Hunter Tri ultimate/ Lego City: Undercover

Playstation 3 Superslim - £250
Hard Drive - 500 GB
Optical Media Playback - Blu Ray
Streaming Media Services - Netflix, Lovefilm, Youtube, BBC Iplayer, Itv Player, 4 Ondemand, Vidzone, Playstation Video Store
Most anticipated 1st party game before June 2013 - The Last Of Us
Most anticipated 3rd party game before June 2013 - GTA V

Xbox 360 - £180 (additional fee for Gold membership to access streaming services)
Hard Drive - 250 GB
Optical Media Playback - DVD
Streaming Media Services - Netflix, Lovefilm, Youtube, BBC Iplayer, 4 Ondemand, Demand 5, Xbox Video, Crackle, Now TV, Daily Motion, Vevo
Most anticipated 1st party game before June 2013 - Gears Of War: Judgement
Most anticipated 3rd party game before June 2013 - GTA V

This is just a brief comparision between them, but in a nut shell both the playstation 3 and xbox 360 provide more external services, have larger hard drive memory, more up coming third party games and are going at a lower price point. Now I know that the Wii U just came out but in these times of austerity, people on a budget are going to go for "value", so cheaper price and most services.

One other thing that has been lacking is that must have game which really shows off the gamepad. New Super Mario Bros U isn't that title and NintendoLand has been advertised as a mini-game collection.

That and the fact that the Wii U isn't getting the likes off Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite, Dead Space 3, Crysis 3, Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, Splinter Cell Blacklist, Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 and GTA V all of which will be available on competing platforms, it isn't too much of a surprise why the Wii U isn't shifting as much as Nintendo would like.

Re: THQ President: Lack Of Vigil Buyer Is A "Travesty"

Taffy

Given that Iwata himself admitted that games on the Wii U have been a bit on the slow side coming out (after the last Nintendo direct), it would have been a perfect opportunity for them to get another studio under their belt to bolster up their game production. I wouldn't have wanted them to make a Zelda game but rather come up with something new to keep things fresh and interesting on the Wii U

Re: Talking Point: Wii U Direct - Tell Us What You Thought

Taffy

Surprised that GBA games will be on the Wii U, thought they would have announced that for the 3DS but he did say that there will be another Direct for 3DS and third party games. Oh and those new Yoshi and Monolith games look super sweet, just hope you guys across the pond don't have to wait too long... still don't understand how Disaster never went stateside!

Re: The Big Wii U Survey

Taffy

@LonDonE Would be nice if the system had more TV functions as well. Look at the PS3 which is cheaper and has bigger internal storage, it has bbc iplayer, 4 on demand and ITV player along with netflix and lovefilm . Don't see the point in getting it until they provide more services as I use the BBC Iplayer alot on my Wii

Re: Crysis 3 Not Coming To Wii U Due To A "Lack Of Business Drive"

Taffy

@Bankai In order to have a market you have to create it. Call of Duty became the must have FPS during the last generation because it wasn't trying to be Halo. Angry Birds become so popular yet there wasn't demand for it when it came out. Henry Ford said if we make what the customer wants then all we would have is bigger and faster cars.

The point is saying that there isn't a market for a certain type of game is showing lack of risk management in EA, but when you look at their portfolio which is filled with games that have numbers at the end of their titles it isn't surprising.

Look at the last original game that sold well by EA... Dead Space, was anyone looking for a space survival horror when it came out? Nope, they created the demand for it with that game. Now you could bring Mirror's Edge as a counter argument but that goes back to the whole point of risk management... Speaking of Mirror's Edge I would much rather have that on the WiiU then some generic first person game!

Re: Team Ninja Considering More Titles For Wii U

Taffy

The only major gripe I had with Other M was those first person parts where you couldn't move until you scanned something, just broke the pace for me. Story wasn't the best but wasn't the worst I've come across either.

Re: Feature: The Biggest 3DS Games of 2013

Taffy

Luigi's mansion and Shantae's new game are day one purchases for me. Will get around to Castlevania sometime but also need to buy Scibblenauts when they release that in Europe as well!

Re: Nintendo Considering Retail Downloads on 3DS and Wii U

Taffy

I can't understand why they haven't added retail DS titles to Nintendo E-shop. But Nintendo have a habit of promising things and not delivering. I still remember Reggie at e3 2006 talking about WiiConnect24 saying "Imagine you switch off your Wii only to comeback and find Dowloadable content already installed".... Yeah that worked well didn't it? Don't get me wrong I love Nintendo but when it comes to these things I now have a "wait and see" approach.

Re: Nintendo Has No Plans to Fix Mario Kart 7's Maka Wuhu Glitch

Taffy

Really Nintendo? You were able to fix the bug in Zelda, the excuse of an unfair advantage would be moot if you made it available in a system update and made everyone install it. Like you did with the blank screen issue in one of the launch racing games (can't remember the name of it now though).

Re: Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy Trailer Takes Flight

Taffy

@TheDarkness: Factor 5 San Fransisco shut down but the one in Germany is still going. As far as I'm aware this is some legal battle between former employees of Factor 5 and the owners over there. Still, would love to see them do a new version of the Wii U and Lucas Arts could always out source to another developer like Crytek
