Re: Best Nintendo Switch Strategy Games

Dear Nintendo Life,

When you make a “Best of” list for a genre it helps to actually do some editorial and make selections of the actual best. Every one of these lists feels like you’re listing every game in the genre that’s in the platform. It’s just not actually helpful nor could all of these titles in this list qualify as “Best.” Sorry but it’s one of the more annoying things about this site.

Re: Talking Point: What's The Most Difficult Mainline Mario Game?

SupahM3tr0yd

The obvious answer is The Lost Levels but I don’t really count that one since it’s more of a novelty to the US. Aside from it’s obvious trolling, Sunshine has loads of stuff I never came close to getting. It can be a punishing/unforgiving experience. So many things I scratched my head saying how? It’s the only one of the three 3D All Stars I didn’t play through to completion cuz it feels pretty chore-ish.

Re: Talking Point: How's Your Switch Holding Up After 5 Years?

SupahM3tr0yd

I have an OG from July of 2017. It’s still in great shape. No plastic issues aside from smoothing of the plastic from hand grease. Two tiny notches on the screen plastic from the dock but only over the bezel not the image, doesn’t bother me. All in all it has held up really well. Original gray joycon are working great but I did send them in to Nintendo for drift repair over two years ago. No issues since. The pink joycon from my Splatoon 2 set has minor drift sometimes but I haven’t bothered sending them in. All in all I’ve taken good care of it and treated it well and it had paid me back. None of the fan or cracked plastic issues I’ve heard about.

Blast Corps, 1080, And Jet Force Gemini all deserve a spot. As does the oft overlooked Extreme-G, which was super impressive at the time. Honorable mention for weird stuff like Forsaken 64 which arguably didn’t belong on that system! Also played a ton of World Cup ‘98, whose real-time commentary was pretty impressive back then.

Re: Guide: Every Arcade Archives Game On Nintendo Switch, Plus Our Top Picks

I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with that VS Super Mario Bros pick... have you actually played it? The physics are totally off - it's harder on purpose, just to be a dick. Don't play it, play the NES version instead, it's 1000x better. Was the first Switch game I purchased that I actually deleted from my system. I'm MAD AT THAT GAME.

Re: Random: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Booth At PAX East Reduces Discord Community Manager To Tears

SupahM3tr0yd

Yeah I guess I just can’t relate because I don’t think I’ve ever had “tears of joy or happiness” - like that’s just not a thing for me. Nostalgia, a beautiful mountain, a powerful image - that can make me cry for sure - but just thinking something is so cute it reduces me to tears is not a thing for me. But hey - I guess it is for other people.

I also think maybe it’s a generational gap thing. Like I don’t use Twitter at all because I don’t like the format and I am turned off by a lot of Twitch/YouTube “personalities” because so much of that “content” is just regurgitated sh*t we all know and talk about... it’s very “look at me look at me look at me” which often hits me as hollow and disingenuous. I feel like this young generation now is being trained to be obsessed with likes and follows and owning some sort of personal brand - I think it’s pretty problematic in a lot of ways. But also maybe I’m just not the target demo and am aging out of relevancy at 33.

In other words - get off my lawn! Lol

Re: Nintendo On Introducing New Hardware, Giving Players "That 'Wow' Moment"

SupahM3tr0yd

You guys took one article from The Guardian and turned it into two “articles.”

I know you need to always update the site with “content” every day, but come on...

Making “articles” from comment thread rumors and out of context tweets doesn’t cut it either. I think the world is just fine with fewer posts of substance rather than a constant stream of nothing much.

Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend?

Splatoon 2 is the perrenial go to in our house, my girlfriend loves it and I love playing a series of matches here and there, it’s still super fun. Downloaded Revelations 2 the other day. It’s pretty good, not Resi4 good, but solid. Loading times kill me tho. Also been playing Celeste, I think I’m on the final stage now. Love Celeste - it’s so contemporary and creative.

Re: Here’s Why Traditional Dungeons Got Axed in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

SupahM3tr0yd

Dungeons were always the best part of Zelda in my opinion. Sort of a 2:1 overworld exploration to dungeon ratio. I'd usually spend a play session or two to get the dungeon and then be excited to come back the next night and play through a whole dungeon in one sitting (unless it was a head scratcher and I needed a break). Whoever said "Zelda isn't for dungeon crawling" is seriously on crack. I liked the change of pace with the shrines but thought they could have used some design and theme variation.
