Re: Poll: Which New Pokémon From The Scarlet & Violet Trailer Is Your Favourite?

Sonos

@somnambulance No doubt. My daughter was an advanced reader towards the end of her 5th year - but still not at a level for Mons. You don't notice it as you get older but if you cant read - you really can't play the traditional Pokemons at all. Even if you could it takes away from the magic...which is really the story. I decided to hold off until she wants to play it and completely find it herself - if that's what she wants to do.

Side note: for my 7 and 6 year old the biggest hitters are/were: Paper Mario and Kirby. Paper Mario - I drove and had them help me with puzzles and boss strategies. I never played without them. It took two years to complete! One of my best game experiences too.

@shinesprites why would the only absolute in life - death - be a hard reality? It is the one thing you can count on. Death is the only thing that can potentially free you from the prison your reside in right now - this mortal coil. Death is entry ticket into the most exciting part of life - the life beyond your current shell.

What you are now is nothing in the span of time and space. There is no life without death. They cannot exist without one another. Do not spend your life treating death as a calamity; as a disease to be cured - it is not.

Re: Summer Game Fest Airing "Exclusive New Look" At Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course

Sonos

@NEStalgia If the game was of even an average difficulty it wouldn't have sold, and continue to sell, nearly as many copies. No one would be still talking about Cuphead so many years after release had it been easy.

I can count 1000 platformers that you play and forget - how many [good] games can you name in the past 10 years that make you yell at the screen - like many of us did as our younger selves? I can think of only a few. Cuphead, Meatboy, maybe Souls (big maybe)...not many more.

You forget the easy ones. The hard ones stick with you. The accomplishment is real.

Re: Feature: How The Quintessential Essence Of Pokémon Games Inspires Gen After Gen

I was an early adult mostly into PS2 gaming when I picked up Pearl - mostly for work road trips on my first good job on the GBA SP (still my favorite handheld of all times). Back when Penny Arcade was still funny (that long ago) they were into it so I decided to see what the deal was.

I've been a pokemaniac since. It is fun to see my little children way into it now - although i am wary of them getting too deeply into it.

Re: Japanese Charts: The Nintendo Switch Continues To Dominate The Top Ten

Sonos

@NintendoEternity I casually check to find one now and then to watch Twin Peaks on Blu Ray - but when I can't easily find one I cannot be bothered.

Lost sales on software and my Lynch/Miyazaki obsession continue.

I remember last gen when people were telling Sony they were losing Japan as customers and Sony basically flipped them off. Now that AAA Western development is completely stagnated and customers are increasingly bored...Whoops-see-Daisy

Re: Where To Pre-Order Pokémon Scarlet And Violet On Switch

Sonos

@Pillowpants It was tough to find here in the states. The game dropped the literal week we went into national lockdowns. I had a copy pre-ordered but then amazon started pushing it back...then WAY back. I went digital and never regretted that decision. people were looking everywhere.

Re: Hands On: Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Is Looking Like A Mighty Meaty Hunk Of DLC

Sonos

@Aneira Good thing I don't take advice from cartoon characters and instead rely on myself and others - the others being real human beings that are not popular cartoon characters. But if quoting cartoons for life advice works for you - do it I say.

Rise was the best game for the Switch of 2021. The pre-order came with some skins for a DLC I know I would eventually buy anyway. I'm a fan. I also have money. shrug

Re: Summer Game Fest Publisher List And Details Announced, Nintendo Apparently Not Featuring

Sonos

@Anti-Matter I get that. I watch kid shows from time to time. One of my legit favorite shows even today is That's So Raven. It isn't nostalgia with that show it is funny as most good comedies - but very for kids. Late 90s/Early 00s had some really great tweener comedies - and I was well beyond tweener at that point.

like what you like i say

I recently, like the past 3 months, bought the 3DS version of That's So Raven and Hannah Montana. It set me back about $7. A major commitment.

@Tobiaku right now - yes. But Disney stirred the political pot and there are rumblings in Washington.

The reason we get 3-10 Lovecraft properties per year is it is a known property, has cult status, lots of characters and written for you stories - but most importantly - it's free to use.
