@SkywardLink98: It's a giant meme. I doubt many people wouldn't get the reference.
I've caught the occasional more obscure reference, namely one to a British pop band my grandfather would play records of when I was really young.
I'm putting my money on the following: Game of the Year: Grand Theft Auto V - The hype, sales, budget, and brand will give this game the edge. For anyone holding your breath for it to be Super Mario 3D World, if Spike awards 3D World with GOTY, they'll need to nuke-proof the Spike headquarters and move to the South Pole.
Best RPG: Ni no Kuni/Pokemon X/Y: I'm not sure which of the two will win, it really depends on popularity sway.
Best Nintendo Game: Super Mario 3D World - This game will likely win as the best Nintendo game. Unless Spike wants an army on their doorstep, It'll be Mario.(Also WTH is Rayman Legends listed for "Best Nintendo Game")
Best Handheld Game: I have no idea. It'll really depend.
So far Monolith Soft has been involved in Skyward Sword, Brawl, Project X Zone, Pikmin 3, Animal Crossing, and now this. Monolith has been a great asset for Nintendo.
This review rubs me wrong. It just seems like an irritated, and strongly objective dismissal of a game rather than an in-depth review, not to mention one that came particularly late. Did NintendoLife not get a review copy? Is the reviewer miffed about the lack of multiplayer? Is this simply a slapped together review for the sakes of getting one out? I'd say Destructiod's review of A Link Between Worlds was better argued than this. At least that reviewer stated and explained all of his problems. This review complains about this game with little to no explanation. When the reviewer starts to complement something, he quickly turns around and states it as irrelevant.
@BlackStar9000: It's in a moral grey area more than anything. I just did some research on them. They have an upcoming game called "Banana Kong", so Oceanhorn could very well be the beginning of a Nintendo piggybacking scheme. Turns out the developer was actually a very successful flash game maker, some of my favorites as a kid. Up until Oceanhorn, most of their games have had the quality of a good flash game. The games had good concepts with decent execution. Oceanhorn is, from the looks of it, their first major game. They can improve in originality once they get a stronger bearing on the Action Adventure genre. The main point I was making in my comment was that fans are jumping on a developer and judging them prematurely. I personally am going to play the game, or at least watch a full walkthrough before I come to my conclusion as to whether it's a "rip-off" or not. If it provides a refreshing Zelda-like experience, their ideas are still in it and it's simply their take on Zelda. If the game feels exactly like Zelda, then it could be an uninspired cash-grab. Buying this game encourages quality, but also encourages iOS developers to emulate the style and appearance of more popular games. I personally value quality over originality in the video game industry. If it weren't for the iOS "bigs" e.g. Angry Birds, Temple Run, Candy Crush, iOS would be a productive, growing environment. I see this game as the seeds for a better mobile market, as long as the developers make similar high quality games.
I think Nintendo is in a lose-lose situation with the Wii U. This commercial is probably a step in the better direction, but even then, Nintendo has to compete with tablet/smartphones and PS4/X-One. The Wii U is trying to cater to two entirely different audiences and neither really cares anymore, as they feel alienated by the other side. I don't think the Wii U will be successful, but overall that could be a good thing. Nintendo needs its reality shaken if they are going to succeed. They've to firmly planted themselves in one position and it doesn't please either half of the gaming industry. Nintendo is in need of a rebirth. They're too big, to arrogant, too out of the loop. They're chasing after another market, when they already had one sitting in their laps.
@BlackStar9000: To think I thought Wind Waker was a 3D Action Adventure game when it's really a 2D Action Adventure game, silly me. I honestly love how you act like these developers ported Wind Waker directly to iOS. Is it the most original game? No, from how I take it the developers are big fans of Zelda and simply wanted to use a basic, but effective template for Action Adventure games. They have stated Zelda heavily influenced them, so it isn't a rip-off as much as it is a homage, and a nice looking one at that. Does it really matter who made it? To quote the thousands of Nintendo fanboys, "It's the gameplay that matters." Guess what, there's good gameplay in there. Preferring a brand is petty, shallow, and ultimately harmful to the video game industry. I thought consumers were supposed to reward quality with money, not brands. These are the humble beginnings of a developer. Nintendo shamelessly copied popular games when they tried to gain ground in the industry, but at that time no one would have been making the games as a homage, it was purely to capitalize on a lucrative market. It was those games that helped Nintendo to become the company it is today. Oceanhorn could be the beginnings of a fantastic developer studio.

Nice to see it'll come to more platforms. I would have bought it on Steam if it didn't hit Wii U, but now it'll come down to features and price. The more platforms the better.
I agree this game lacks originality, but really people? They designed the maps (instead of ripping them off of another game coughcough Link Between Worlds coughcough), made an extremely pretty game (that has effort put into it's appearance coughcough Link Between Worlds coughcough), and they state they were influenced by Zelda. This isn't a "rip-off" as y'all love to call it as much as it is a homage to a great game series. Nintendo, when trying to gain ground in the video game industry, produced all sorts of clones of popular classics. They made Pong clones and Space Invader clones. I'll simply say I don't think Nintendo made these games because they liked Space Invaders and Pong. This situation is relatively similar. This company is using a well established and basic template to make what appears to be a quality game. The main difference is that they entered the gaming industry because they wanted to. Zelda was clearly an influence on them, so they want to make their own Zelda. To be frank, if this game had the words The Legend of Zelda and Nintendo on the title screen, you'd all be saying "HYPE!" or "I'M THROWING MONEY AT MY SCREEN! NOTHING'S HAPPENING!" or "I NEED A TIME MACHINE!", but because someone else made it, they obviously lack creativity, and deserve to lose hard earned money to a multibillion dollar company.
Anyone who believes Nintendo is going to completely die if the Wii U fails honestly has no idea what their talking about, but even then, Nintendo could definitely put itself on the path to irrelevance if it isn't careful.
Hopefully he won't have the same moveset/animations. Also take into account the Hula-hoop recovery and other poses. It would almost make this a reality. [youtube:jD8e3xexHOE]
I've written the first sentence for Paperboy! When life slows down a bit, I'll really get into it and byte off a huge chunk of the work. (I'm working on those intentionally bad puns.)
@unrandomsam : I can't even understand exactly what you're asking, but a very small amount of my life is dedicated to video games right now. I'm in a program where I am taking a college class at the moment (Note: I'm 15) along with two other classes that are graded by extremely high standards and are taught at an accelerated pace. I don't have the time to be playing video games, barring an occasional five hour session of gaming after a few weeks. I just think Nintendo needs to offer more options. They're essentially cutting corners, but claim to be preserving the "essence of gaming". If they want to increase the replay value of their games, as they claim to do with DLC, why don't they also increase the replayablity of games by allowing someone to play games with others over the internet?
I'd say local multiplayer is overall a better option, in most cases at least, but online should be offered also. Online play can help preserve friendships even after one friend moves away. Is a local game better? Yes, personal interaction is always better, but Nintendo should also provide an online option.
Hopefully they won't ramp up the difficulty so much that it forces players to buy/wait that. Sounds rather pay-to-win to me. Now I'll be waiting on the reviews for this game.
I'm hoping he just means about an MM remake, not the origins or history of Majora's Mask (No I don't see the manga as canon). I've always been a fan of the mystery and speculation behind it, and there is no way Nintendo could give it a properly disturbing backstory. Still, some serious stuff has to go down in this game to set the stage for The Legend of Zelda. The timeline, not that I think it is really that accurate, says that the monarchs of Hyrule use the Triforce sometime after Link's Awakening. My only guess is that the Triforce will be used to counteract the 'Anti-Triforce', that unnamed, black, upside-down Triforce that is part of the logo.
Well, at least part of Nintendo understands what one of the major problems is. Instead of trying to ride off the coattails of their predecessors, Nintendo should have named them something completely different. Advertising wouldn't hurt either.
I can't believe this guy forgot to mention how this game makes fun of overweight people. The boss calls his relatively overweight workers "lazy" and forces them to run without ever giving them a break. Don't forget about the Zora King, he can't even stand up, but instead slowly scoots over. I regret playing Ocarina of Time. It's such a disgusting racist, sexist, and classist game that just typing the name of the game makes me want to vomit. Every copy of the game should be destroyed, every person who likes it should be imprisoned, and all Nintendo products should be banned in America because of just how vile this 15 year old game is! Excuse me while I play GTA 5 instead of this disgusting filth.
Honestly, this is probably the most ridiculous thing I've heard in my life. If this guy is honest, I could imagine him petitioning the moving of "Deer Crossing" signs to less busy roads. The only way a game could even be fair to everyone in this guys mind is if you played as an androgynous, transparent blob of goo and every other character was an androgynous, transparent blob of goo.
I'm concerned about the difficulty curve now. If there isn't a clear order, will every dungeon be about the same difficulty or will the game employ some type of adaptive difficulty system?
Of course they would, but there is also the potential to build up some franchises. I haven't bought a Nintendo game in seven months, nor do I even want to. I don't even see Zelda games in the same light because they release them too often. I would be excited about these games, if they weren't just flying out the door. How many platformers am I supposed to play before I'm sick and tired of them? If you can't "innovate" your other franchises, at least try to do something with them. Nintendo might find a way to do something new with a franchise if they actually used it.
@Kifa : The reason the 3D shut off on MGS3D was because when you tilt the console, the images aren't correctly aligned with your eyes.
Honestly this sounds like a bunch of bull. The game is hard to call pretty. The textures are ugly, the landscape and, judging from the the pictures, the draw distance is hardly an achievement. My guess is that this is because of Game Freak's inexperience with polygons and 3D while also facing a deadline.
No, I respect the game from a technical standpoint, but the content isn't really something I take interest in. Still, the Wii U is the perfect system for GTA. What other console (barring PS3 if it has Vita support) allows you to take the content off the screen so you can play it without anyone seeing what you're doing.
Just from reading the title from this article, I knew it was nothing more than an inflammatory article. While I agree with the issue of morality in GTA, I rolled my eyes as soon as you started mentioning Wind Waker as a "better game". WW is fun, but to say we aren't missing out pure subjectivity. You yourself admitted you haven't played the game, so how can you possibly compare one to another. Please, instead of setting fire to an already burning building, discuss your concerns regarding the morality of the game. You'll lose one viewer if you keep this up.
"Nintendo still sells 100% full game and asks for a fair price companies like EA sell you 60% of the game for the full price and then "offer" DLC, microtransactions and monthly subscription fee's"
And yet Nintendo can charge $53 for a remaining third of a game you already paid $40 for. Please instead of being blind to the errors in a company, examine a companies practices without rose-tinted glasses. Your heaping hate on one company for doing something, yet defending another company for doing the same thing.
Can I personally say I find it ironic that people complain about Nintendo being too intrusive for developers. Sounds more like excuses, with a reasonable degree of justification to me.
I, personally, have little doubt that the Wii U will rebound. Nintendo is finally starting to release games on the console, not to mention the fact that they have undercut the prices of the PS4/One by a good bit, and with some extra goodies as well. The Wii U definitely has some struggles ahead, but it's no Virtual Boy.
Video games can do one or the other, it just depends on the person. I wouldn't say to give any troubled kid a violent video game, but I would say to give a less violent video game to a troubled kid always. It very well could be escapism that is the more therapeutic element.
I personally look forward to this game. To all of you people who are bashing the game for not being "original", I have one question to ask, have you played this game? If not, then you need to stop criticizing it. Y'all are likely the people who can't wait for A Link Between Worlds, which, for the sake of originality, is using the same overworld as A Link to the Past.

Your heaping hate on one company for doing something, yet defending another company for doing the same thing.
Re: Video: Watch_Dogs Footage Shows Off Hacking, Open-World Elements and Driving
This looks to be a fun game. I hope it's as good as it looks to be.
Re: Bethesda: The Time For Convincing Publishers And Developers To Support Wii U Is "Long Past"
Can I personally say I find it ironic that people complain about Nintendo being too intrusive for developers. Sounds more like excuses, with a reasonable degree of justification to me.
Re: Talking Point: The Wii U May Be Playing Catch-Up With Some Developers, But Money Always Talks
Re: New Study Suggests That Violent Games Are "Therapeutic" For Troubled Kids
Video games can do one or the other, it just depends on the person. I wouldn't say to give any troubled kid a violent video game, but I would say to give a less violent video game to a troubled kid always. It very well could be escapism that is the more therapeutic element.
Re: Ludosity's Ittle Dew Was Pitched to Nintendo as a Zelda Game
I personally look forward to this game. To all of you people who are bashing the game for not being "original", I have one question to ask, have you played this game? If not, then you need to stop criticizing it. Y'all are likely the people who can't wait for A Link Between Worlds, which, for the sake of originality, is using the same overworld as A Link to the Past.
