SMB3 is definitely more influential (and better). Super Mario World is just a continuation of the path SMB3 laid, using newer technology to build on. I'd also say the NSMB seems to follow SMB3 more than World.
Eh, it looks nice, but I'd only want it in a game if it were a natural progression ideas. If they built a game world just around fitting that bike in, I'd be sick. Also, how the heck does the front wheel turn?
@AJ_Lethal: Either you're observing two separate vocal groups or taking that phrase out of its intended context. The Zelda fanbase is incredibly diverse and will want different things from the franchise. One group of people may be wanting change to the formula and a completely separate group may want for the games to remain the same. People are more likely to make a comment about why they like something that why they do. What you see is one group being vocal about an issue they see and then another group being vocal about something they find to be an issue. You're also taking the definition of "formula" out of it's typical context. Typically in formula discussions, people are discussing that the gameplay is too similar. People can want the gameplay of Zelda to undergo a noticeable change, but to keep the roots of the series more intact.
Reggie really needs to actually do the ice bucket. Wasn't he supposed to do it within 24 hours of his nomination? This could be a disgrace for the company otherwise.
Heck, even if Link had been wearing another mask, it would have sparked the "OMGOGMHELLVALLEYSKYTREEMAJORASMASKREMAKECONFIRMED1!11!!" reaction. Lighthearted speculation can be fun, but at this point if you can find the letters to spell out "Majora" on one of Nintendo's webpages, then an "OMGMAJORASMASKR3MAKARCONFIRMED!!!1!1!" reaction is bound to happen.
After reading @AdmiralThrawn's post, I just realized that the most hyped moment of E3 and most disappointing E3 had only one difference. One involved a game with a fighting robot, the other involved a game with a "SUPER FIGHTING ROBOT!!!"
As for the QoL platform, it doesn't sound appealing at the current moment, but I'm interested to learn what it is. My opinion may change upon the thing's release.
While I don't necessarily agree with Miyamoto on a number of matters in creating games, he can create a great game with his philosophies. I can see why people might have a problem with his projects, but they're going to continue to evolve. Anyone here think that Super Mario 128 would have made a good game? Probably not, but the concepts it presented evolved into two awesome games, Pikmin and Super Mario Galaxy.
These kinds of policies anger me. Just because one company has a problem with a game, it shouldn't affect everyone. I'd say Watermellon should just skip Xbox, but indie devs need to be on as many platforms as possible.
@FragRed: What would be scary though is if nothing did come. Gaming would eventually come back, but it could possibly be years before a company took the risk to revitalize the industry.
@DilMan33: I can understand your thinking, but I see a different kind of hybrid. Something tells me all we'll have are screens, with the cloud doing all computing.
@FragRed: Possibly. The game industry is going to change within the next number of years regardless though. I can't say how things will play out, and concerns are justified, but a crash would have to come eventually. There's always a breaking point, and it usually is reached at some point. Nintendo is responsible for much of how the console market developed after the chaos that lead to the North American market crash. The mobile market is similar in some regards, except that consumer's are hardly charged much of anything up front. Who knows, there's nothing completely like it to compare it to.
@FragRed: We can't really be sure, but the chaos of the current market, especially mobile reminds me of the time before the North American crash. Things may turn out different, as the mobile ecosystem is very unpredictable, but there may be something that changes it.
Portable gaming got it's start with the same kinds of basic time wasters as mobile gaming. (Game & Watch)
Tetris (yet another basic, time waster with no depth) was a major selling point for the Gameboy.
I'm not defending some corrupt practices in the mobile market, nor am I saying that the shovelware isn't that, but we do need to acknowledge that mobile gaming is indeed gaming. It's in its fledgling state and has a lot more maturing to do. Do you expect babies to be born with the same reasoning and understanding of a full grown adult?
With the reasoning behind it, I can support the name change, although Gaijin Games was a fun name to say. I'm hyped to hear that LaserLife is in the pipeline though, hopefully it will turn out great.
...You can't even put a demo unit in every state, Nintendo? There is no way I'm begging anyone to drive me an hour and twenty minutes to the closest Best Buy that will have a demo... Just put a basic demo on the eshop so everyone can enjoy the game on their couch with some friends, as you all seem to emphasize in those commercials... Talk about flipping a bird at your consumers... grumblegrumble
Seriously, all DF is doing is pointing out some flaws. They could say the game was 1080p and 60 FPS (to which a number of you would now be praising them), but they're giving an honest report. If you're really trying to argue that the Wii U is a powerhouse, then just enjoy your own delusion and leave the sensible people to enjoy their games.
Eh, the trailer put me off and I'm not going to be the guy to buy a game just because it has Zelda on the box. Unless they show something to change my mind personally (As of right now, the game just looks like a flashy slaughterfest of enemies who just stare at you.) I'll pass.
I still don't like day one DLC, but at the price point, it's still far more excusable than the paid DLC of Fire Emblem: Awakening. If they keep their DLC policies similar to this, I'll still feel fine supporting it, but not if they take the Awakening route again.
I've had my eye on this game since I saw that battle system (Grandia II is one of my favorite games of all time) and this game is the exact thing that needs to be supported. This was a risky venture by Ubisoft, and I think they should be rewarded for it.
I've always considered Metroid Prime 2: Echoes to be my favorite Metroid. I'm all for tension, but Metroid and straight up horror doesn't sound very appealing.
I'm probably going to look to reviews before getting this, but if the reviews are positive and my few fears are put to rest, I will most definitely buy this.
I've only played Investigations, but love the series just off of that game and I understand it's considered one of the weaker installments. Bring this game to the West Physically!
@BossBattles: I know you strongly believe in your opinion on global warming, but trying to force your opinion down other peoples throats isn't going to make them believe you. You're coming off as a tin-foil hat wearing warrior. Don't believe what one person says just because they are discrediting another. What if your sources are being tipped off by a wealthy oil company so it can make money? Do research for yourself, not on what others say, and come to your own conclusions.
This seems like it might end up with X Cup Syndrome (boring random generated levels with a good one every now and then), but if that isn't the case, I want a Wii U equivalent.
I played a bit of it today and have to give it props. Trying to play the game on my keyboard takes some of the fun out of it, but over all this game is still magnificent.
He does have a point. Nintendo themselves hasn't used the Wii U for anything truly spectacular, nor have third parties. The Gamepad has hurt the Wii U, but could still be its savior. Let's just sit, smile, and watch how things go.
Preserving someones game design philosophy is always a good thing, but I don't necessarily support choosing to make the people coming in Miyamoto clones. I'd rather see someone new come in with new ideas on game design than someone new come in just to preserve the old.

SMB3 is definitely more influential (and better). Super Mario World is just a continuation of the path SMB3 laid, using newer technology to build on. I'd also say the NSMB seems to follow SMB3 more than World.
