Re: Round Up: Metroid Prime: Federation Force Predictably Divides Opinion

Seanmyster6

Let me explain my views on why Federation Force is such a disappointment:
Imagine that you have a friend who cooks really good steaks that you like and would often invite you over for steak dinner. Now, imagine that this friend hasn't invited you over for a long time. Then one day, out of the blue, your friend invites you over for steak once more. This time, however, instead of that delicious steak that you remember, all you're given is a bag of steak-flavored potato chips from the dollar store.
So, yeah, that's what Federation Force is like: being given dollar store chips when you were expecting home-cooked steak.

(Then there are the people who defend Federation Force with things like "It's a spin-off", "It's better than having no new Metroid games", "You shouldn't care so much about the name", etc.; They're like another friend who was invited to the same dinner, happily munching down on his chips while saying to you "How could you be so ungrateful? You should be glad that you were given anything at all!")

Re: Review: R-Type (Wii U eShop / TG-16)

Seanmyster6

I had been starving for a good shmup lately, so what better time for R-Type to show up on Wii U!

@Agent721 The Konami Code might not work, but R-Type does have its very own 21 Continues code.
EDIT: ryogo666's comment explains how this code is done.

Re: Metroid Prime: Federation Force is Now Available to Pre-load in North America

Seanmyster6

I will now coin a new term: "Nuts & Bolts Sticker Force".
Named for Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Paper Mario Sticker Star, and Metroid Prime: Federation Force, a Nuts & Bolts Sticker Force is an entry in an established franchise which drags said franchise through an unnecessary identity crisis by introducing a number of changes which make no sense and nobody was asking for, either in a misguided attempt at variety, or because they never heard the saying "If it isn't broken, don't fix it."
Nuts & Bolts Sticker Forces are not always bad games, but they're usually just an "interesting experiment" at best, and would often have made more sense as a new IP.
Sample sentence: "Anyone remember Bomberman: Act Zero? That game was such a Nuts & Bolts Sticker Force!"

Re: Feature: Over The Moon on Lessons Learned With The Fall and Continuing ARID's Story in Part 2

Seanmyster6

I need to go back and finish the first game sometime soon.
I don't know if I'd call The Fall a "Metroidvania", though, since it's more like a "roto-scoped platformer" (like Out Of This World) with elements of a point-and-click adventure.
EDIT: As it turns out, the term I was looking for is "cinematic platformer".
The Fall is a cinematic platformer, not a Metroidvania.

Re: Nintendo Download: 21st July (North America)

Seanmyster6

Alright, Star Fox Zero demo! I've been waiting for them to release one, due to the whole control controversy. (Some said the controls were actually good while others said they were as bad as all the game journalists were saying, so I wanted to try for myself)
I'll also look into Ninja Smasher, since that description sounds like something I'd enjoy.

Re: Video: Fans Mod Goku Into Super Smash Bros. For Wii U

Seanmyster6

@FlowOfDough Because Nintendo has made it abundantly clear for the last 15 years that only characters who have originated in video games are eligible to appear in Super Smash Bros.
Period.
This argument has gone on for far too long, and people like Detective TeeJay and myself are sick and tired of having to beat this dead horse by repeatedly trying to explain such a simple concept to stubborn, thick-skulled morons.
So there, I just "explained crap to you". Happy?

Re: Nintendo Removes Infamous Drugging Scene From Western Localisation Of Fire Emblem Fates

Seanmyster6

You know what? I'm getting really sick of hearing about this game and all of its stupid awkward crap. From the western release getting split into two full price games, to the "fondle your waifu" minigame, to all the homosexuality crap, (don't even get me started on fans now asking for polygamy and even incest options in FE, mirroring the real-life "love is love" idiocy) it's really turning me off. I may even skip out on the Corrin dlc in Smash because of all this nonsense. I just want nothing to do with this game anymore.

Re: Review: Lucentek - Activate (Wii U eShop)

Seanmyster6

Here's how I like to think games like these make it onto the eShop...

Developer: Ok, Nintendo, here's my game!
Nintendo: Alright, let's have a look... Hmmm... Yes, this is a very good proof-of-concept. Can't wait to see the finished game!
Developer: ...This IS the finished game.
Nintendo: (faints)
Developer: ...Ok, thanks for distributing my game! I'll see you in a week after I make the sequel!

Re: Koei Tecmo is Planning Another Major Collaboration With a Western IP

Seanmyster6

Some "Warriors" mashups I'd like to see:
Castlevania Warriors
Mega Man X - Maverick Warriors
Dragon Ball Z Warriors
Transformers - Cybertron Warriors (Gen 1, of course)
Tatsunoko Warriors
Godzilla Warriors
Super Meme Warriors Turbo Champion Arcade 4Chan #GamerGate Edition & Knuckles, featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series

...Okay, that last one was just a joke. (though I'd still play it if it were real, just sayin')

Re: Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden

Seanmyster6

Sad to say, I'm not enjoying this game as much as I thought I would. I like the fighting engine, and I enjoyed multiplayer when my brother and I played the demo; but the single player content just isn't doing it for me, and I don't feel like waiting for the online mode to eventually be added in North America, if ever.
It's not a bad game, really, but there's other games I'd rather spend my time with. :
