Review Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden (3DS)
Not so extreme
Outside of Super Smash Bros., it feels like there's something of a gap in the 3DS library when it comes to fighters, so the overseas arrival of Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden is a welcome one. A 2D, sprite based brawler that features characters and storylines from the perpetually popular manga and anime property, it's a solid if...

Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden News
News Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden is Adding Online Multiplayer and More in 7th April Update
'The Extreme Patch'
Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden arrived on 3DS in the West in October 2015, and we thought it was rather decent. The lack of online multiplayer was a sore point, however, though we were given hope when it was confirmed for an update in Japan late last year. It's taken quite some time, but Bandai Namco has now revealed that 'The...

It's time for Nintendo Download Update goodness, North American gamers, and this week actually has quite a lot to offer. There are major 3DS retail games, a much anticipated Wii U title and an interesting range of download-only games on both systems. All told it could be - whisper it - a good...
News Online Battles Coming to Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden in Japan
Yes please, Bandai Namco
Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden is out now in both Europe and North America, giving Western 3DS owners a welcome dose of the popular franchise. It has a pretty decent range of content and a surprisingly deep combat system, prompting us to give it a recommendation in our review. One complaint we had, though, was the lack of...

Video Try to Keep Up With This Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden Launch Trailer
Super Butoden 2 is definitely only for pre-orders
Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden is just days away in North America and Europe, so Bandai Namco naturally wants to keep momentum going ahead of release. To that end a new trailer has been released to build some launch hype. To the eyes of this non-fan this seems like a colourful and confusing...

Feature The Biggest 3DS Games of 2015 - Q4 Edition
Gaming on the go to finish the year
Every few months of each year we do lists of what we consider to be ten of the biggest games on each system that are still on the way. We recently shared a Wii U list for this quarter and, just like in that case, we're going to do one list for 3DS. In our Summer editions we had separate retail and eShop lists but,...
News Bandai Namco Launches Quirky 'Twitter Plays' Campaign for Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden
That won't be timeline spamming at all
Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden is getting ever closer to its Western release, and Bandai Namco has announced a quirky social media campaign that's clearly taken some inspiration from Twitch Plays - it's going for 'Twitter Plays'. As you can see in the trailer below you're supposed to sign-up on the official...

News Enter a Crazy Code to Unlock a New Character in the Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden Demo
Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Vegeta, apparently
Update: Thanks to the comments and a quick web search this demo is actually available in North America, somewhat negating our first line below. While it was promoted and given a 'shelf' in Europe, its release in NA has been rather stealthy - apparently a search for the name or a rummage through the...

Very happy! I have Drain Ball Origins but this will be a good switch up.
Oh yea...I'm the first one to comment on this. Ahh yeah.
Meant to say Dragon in the first comment.
A Dragon Ball Z game for 3DS, which is also a brand new fighting game for 3DS! That's a win-win in my book.
Sad to say, I'm not enjoying this game as much as I thought I would. I like the fighting engine, and I enjoyed multiplayer when my brother and I played the demo; but the single player content just isn't doing it for me, and I don't feel like waiting for the online mode to eventually be added in North America, if ever.
It's not a bad game, really, but there's other games I'd rather spend my time with. :
@Seanmyster6 Have you checked out Dragon Ball Fusions?
@Nin10doh I plan to, yes.
While part of me was slightly turned away when it had separate characters of Base Goku and Super Saiyan Goku, not to mention the very limited characters to choose from.
It was a very fun and interesting experience, and I especially liked and engaged with its own story mode, which was its own take/continuation of Dragon Ball GT if I am not mistaken. I did find it a bit difficult in terms of the gameplay, not necessarily because of the difficulty, but more so learning the controls and particular aspects as for me I was just kinda thrown into the gameplay style having to figure everything out for myself.
Overall I'd say the game is pretty good.
