That "explanation" did nothing for me. In fact, if anything, it only served to reaffirm my uneasiness towards the way they've chosen to go about this project.
@MIDP Yeah, but a campaign that asks for a $250 minimum donation, after which you still have to buy the game yourself if and when it eventually comes out? Like I said, all kinds of sketchy.
I dunno, I don't see that Tennis game being able to compete with something like Mario Tennis.
I'm really only interested in Billiard, simply because the Switch doesn't already have a billiards game yet. Maybe Escape Trick, too, but I'd have to see footage first.
Hopefully, this will eventually lead up to a release of Strikers 1945 III (a.k.a. Strikers 1999) on Switch, which has never before been released on a home console. (there is a port on Android, but who really wants to play it on that?)
At this point, I've lost all faith that VR will ever amount to anything more than a novelty.
Nintendo's probably looking back at the Virtual Boy and thinking, "Meh; been there, done that."
@Marios-love-child This is the attitude that I've chosen to have towards this whole thing as well. The last thing I want to do is set myself up for disappointment.
One of my all-time favorite Wii games, I even like it more than its supposedly superior sequel. I used to rent it from my local Coborn's back in the day, and then I bought their rental copy for dirt cheap a few years ago when they were closing down their video rental section and liquidating their inventory.
Oh yeah, this is that game where one of the creators insulted Trump supporters and told them not to buy the game, and then gave a half-hearted apology when they were called out on it.
Would buy day one on Switch! In my opinion, Rivals Of Aether is one of the only Smash clones worth playing at the moment. (I was even an open beta tester for it back in the day, for what that's worth)
@AG_Awesome It's not 100% the same, (the main differences being that smash attacks are mapped to a separate button, and the "shield" works more like a parry) but it's close enough that anyone familiar with Smash should get the hang of it very quickly.
Love the Dreamcast! So many hidden gems, especially in the arcade shoot-em-up genre; it does my heart good to see at least a few of them making their way to the Switch.
Yeah, now these are the kind of AAA games that I can get behind! Will be getting Skyrim and DOOM for certain, although Wolfenstein II might be relegated to the backlist. (more interested in slaying dragons and demons than Nazis at the moment)
@justin233 I get where you're coming from. I too am someone who tends to prefer cutesy games, but I'll also play darker games sometimes, depending on what they are. (like Metroid Prime, Resident Evil, and of course the aforementioned DOOM, just to name a few)
In the meantime, I wouldn't mind some kind of Final Fantasy anthology collection on Switch. (which I could realistically only expect to include the first six games, but would love if it also included the PS1 trilogy)
Apparently, according to losers like MariOnline and MarioPhD, we Nintendo fans are supposed to just cave in to the modern AAA industry's sh***y practices and openly embrace every single third-party title that comes our way regardless of quality or genre, or else we're stuck-up brats who don't deserve third-party support.
I would like to have a good arcadey pick-up-and-play baseball game on the Switch, but this one just seems like a cynical cash-grab mess with no idea what it actually wants to be. Guess I'll just have to hope for one of the Neo Geo baseball games to make an appearance on the eShop.
I believe this is the only time I've ever seen a game referencing a past spin-off game that was a rebranded localization of a game from an entirely different series. It would be like if the upcoming Yoshi game on Switch had a boss battle where you played a match of Tetris Attack a.k.a. Panel De Pon.
Good! The last thing the Switch needs is 25-year-old shovelware from a failed hardware add-on.
The people who would've bought this are probably the same ones who were awaiting the arrival of Superman 64 on Virtual Console.
This looks like something I'd enjoy a whole lot. It's got the same flavor to it as most of Psikyo's shooters, which I love.
Also, my own personal Neo Geo ACA wishlist:
>Samurai Shodown II (featuring Cham Cham, my favorite and most woefully underused character of the series)
>The Last Blade 2
>Double Dragon (the one-on-one fighter based loosely on the movie)
>Rage of The Dragons (practically a professional fan-game which serves as a pseudo-sequel to the above)
>Windjammers
>Super Dodgeball
>Power Instinct Matrimelee
>Real Bout Fatal Fury
>Aggressors of Dark Kombat
>Sengoku 3
@HappyMaskedGuy Yeah, Japan borrows ideas from the West more often than people seem to realize. Just look at the works of Hideo Kojima and their parallels with American action and sci-fi movies of the '80s and '90s.
@Alikan I'm also a big fan of both Wreck-It Ralph and The Last Starfighter, but those aren't really the same since they're based on the concept of video games rather than specific pre-existing games.
Speaking of movies based on classic Capcom properties, has anyone else here seen Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist? I personally find it to be one of the rare examples of a good video game movie.
@NImH Those are both such laughably bad examples of the point that you're trying to prove, because: 1. Art Of Fighting IS just a dumb clone of Street Fighter II, very blatantly so I might add. (you would've been better off using its sibling series Fatal Fury as an example) 2. Chrono Trigger is not only published by the same company as Final Fantasy, but also had some of the same notable development team members, like Hironobu Sakaguchi and Nobuo Uematsu, so it's not really comparable to something like Icons here.
Yeah, no thanks. I'm not interested in this fourth-rate Melee wannabe. They could've done something like Rivals Of Aether where it draws clear inspiration from Smash but applies said inspiration in an original way and with its own sense of identity, but instead it looks like Wavedash decided to go "LOL let's copy/paste movesets from Smash and reskin them with our sh***y Overwatch OC's!!!"
I just don't see why they only included 21 games this time around compared to the 30 on the NES Classic Edition. I can easily think of nine more SNES classics to include:
Chrono Trigger Final Fantasy II (IV) Actraiser Pilotwings Sim City Super Bomberman Legend of the Mystical Ninja Gradius III Final Fight 2 or 3 (preferably 3)

Re: Rollercoaster Tycoon Could Be Coming To The Switch
Why would a company as big and profitable as Atari need to resort to crowdfunding? This just seems all kinds of sketchy.
I'd much sooner buy the original game on Steam for six bucks.
Re: D3 Publisher Primes A Salvo Of Switch eShop Titles
@Pigeon I'm perfectly willing to pay full price for the polish that Nintendo's game will inevitably have, but different strokes for different folks.
