Re: Printable Metroid Prime 4 'Databook' Has Us Feeling Nostalgic For Instruction Booklets

RejectedAng3L

@sportymariosonicmixx I was already planning on getting it here after Xmas for myself. Probably used.... I feel grimy about it because of Rare Studios deserves better! I want to put my cash in their pocket.

But the whole Back ground music on the bike being tied to a Amibo!?!?!?! WTF?

I hate this.... been dying for MP4 since 3 dropped! Objectively I've stayed away from reviews, review vids and what not so I can experience it with my own eyes.... but to hear that stuff about the Amibo.... lucky me I have an Amibo Emulator because I'm damn sure not paying 30 for background music and 1 more thing to dust off. *frustrated

Re: Printable Metroid Prime 4 'Databook' Has Us Feeling Nostalgic For Instruction Booklets

Whats sad is that a whole slew of press are going to commend Nintendo of posting such a thing on their website when they should have actually printed these off for at least the 1st pressing of Metroid Prime 4 especially after charging $60/70 for copies of the game, locking the music behind a pay wall with a piece of plastic for $30 dust collector!

Instead they want you to use your printer, ink and paper to do what Nintendont!

It's a shame... because we have waited over a decade for this and once again Nintendo fell short of the goal post. Along side of shafting the English speaking world, because we aren't "important enough" to cater too!

I have intentionally skipped YT vids and reviews so that I have a fresh set of eyes when I finally get my hands on this. But it's a very telling hand with Miles and the lack of booklet along with a Day 1 patch!

I mean you guys had over a decade to get "it right" !!!!

And at this point I dunno if I even want to buy a Switch 2 or not at all!

Re: Terminator 2D: No Fate Has Been Delayed On All Consoles

RejectedAng3L

Hopefully this just gives then more time to bug fix to make this a better game!!! Hopefully this doesn't affect differences between the game cards /disks and what folks get digitally (if they go that route)!!!

Also regardless of MP 4 this is an easy buy from me being in the same month!!! I'll be getting both any way

Re: Nintendo's Ability To Ban Switch 2 Consoles Has Landed It In Hot Water

RejectedAng3L

@NFrealinkling well... often times the ones complaining their console got bricked or expelled from services are the same.ones that are dumb enough to get online with a hacked console or torrented games crying about it.

Fact is though, my hardware, I make it do what I want.... many times, more than what the original developers intended.... sometimes at detriment, but I had fun doing it.... soo..... totally worth it!!!

Re: Nintendo's Ability To Ban Switch 2 Consoles Has Landed It In Hot Water

RejectedAng3L

@NFrealinkling actually .....

" Under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), making personal copies of copyrighted media is generally legal if done for private, non-commercial use and without circumventing Digital Rights Management (DRM) protections on the media. However, the DMCA makes it illegal to bypass these technological measures, known as "cracking" the DRM, even for personal use. Therefore, while making a backup copy of a legally owned DVD might be permissible under copyright law, it becomes illegal under the DMCA if you need to break the DVD's encryption to do so. "

So.... therefore you are allowed to make a personal copy for yourself as a backup measure. Where it is in Grey area is that in order to play those files (on switch/switch2) you have to circumvent the Switch OS to load files (console hacking) to avoid DRM.

Quite honestly, the Switch games cards are just like a SD card that's proprietary and if your computer had a Switch game card slot you wouldn't need the dumper or the internet to play those games!

So if I buy the game, buy the console.... Nintendo has no right in America to lock me out of MY hardware

Re: Nintendo's Ability To Ban Switch 2 Consoles Has Landed It In Hot Water

@Jacket_p server updates can be implemented from terminal.... usually the same security protocols and implementation across many servers at once from the "master host".

Sure folks are going to try to get in, just like any other electronic communications system.... the fact is, that just from Mario Kart 8 on the Switch Nintendo made Four Billion Dollars! That doesn't count the consoles themselves or any other games.... Zelda TotK and Zelda: BotW both sold millions of copies at $70 & $60 [respectively]... now they want even more on top of that for upgrades to Switch².

Nintendo has money! Mario Movie aside.... that's just the last generation and mentioning 3 titles and zero hardware sales [which constantly sells out (NSO SNES controllers, NSO Genesis controllers, NSO N64 Controllers, Pro Controllers, Switch Joycons etc....), hundreds of millions of console sales.....

You mean to tell me, keeping the lights on in a Wii/DS Ware server is too expensive? The Wii alone sold hundreds of MILLIONS of consoles @ $199 and hundreds of millions of games (Mario, Zelda, Smash Bros etc).... maybe if they didn't chase every YouTuber and digital artist and fan project down with their lawyers, they might be able to afford to support the hardware that's out in the wold and the ecosystems they developed.... maybe it's just me.... but being as there are hundreds of millions of folks that bought the consoles, maybe I'm just over thinking it!

Re: Nintendo's Ability To Ban Switch 2 Consoles Has Landed It In Hot Water

RejectedAng3L

@jsty3105 not saying EVERY eShop... but the fact and matter is that as long as the networking is compatible still & the hardware is still in the wild & people are still playing the systems....

Then yes, the eShop's should still remain open. I know it's difficult to keep online games going once player-base ceases to exist. But if someone wants to buy a 12 yr old game on their DSi or Wii, then so be it! Not like it isn't profitable, the games were already made, and most servers are "set & forget" once they are set up and maintenance routines are automated..... literally a hands off at that point, unless some hardware fails in the system.

It's basically pure profit after a certain point of selling the minimum to hit the "black" on a game.

Nintendo has a server farm, and it's maintained by folks that work in the data center.

Keep in mind, I'm not saying fully support the hardware still by making new games etc [ but imagine if they did? ], just simply allow folks to get games at will after support has ended [which usually means no more patches, timed contests], it wouldn't in the grand scheme of things cost that much to maintain. Especially considering the Wii, DSi amd 3DS were in the top 5 for "Most hardware sold" by Nintendo! There are obviously enough units in the wild to support such a thing.... thus you have homebrew community's that make regular patches & releases! There millions of people out there playing consoles that are OLDER THAN YOU, every day, playing something new on something old!

Re: Nintendo's Ability To Ban Switch 2 Consoles Has Landed It In Hot Water

RejectedAng3L

@jsty3105 but it isn't false. You can't play any Wii games with online content, thus breaking games that are fully online. Also, you can't go and buy more WiiWare or DSiWare games.... the SHOP IS CLOSED!!

How is that a lie?

2ndly, you don't [nor do I] know exactly when the Switxh eShope is gonna close.... but considering Nintendo's past.... next console hits the market (Switch 3 or whatever its called), the eShop is assumably going to close! It's the pattern thus far!

Re: Nintendo's Ability To Ban Switch 2 Consoles Has Landed It In Hot Water

RejectedAng3L

@NFrealinkling well what would I ever do without your sage advice.... man, I would've been completely lost with out you!!!!! 🫶
Seriously, are you freaking kidding me? That IS EXACTLY what Nintendo wants!!!! They want everyone to move completely digital.... along with Sony and Microsoft!! The physical market is drying up, and folks like you only help it go further!!!
Not gonna go in to the weeds here on this. But what happens when the Next generation of Nintendo consoles come out and the Switch servers get sunset?

Did you ever own a Wii or a DS/DSi ? Those games are GONE! The data limitations of the DS and the size of the cards then, didn't allow you to have that large of a file set on your console... and 128gb cards!?!?! Nearly $200 then! There wasn't enough space! So lots of folks missed out with cheap cards with huge spaces and lost all those games!!! The same thing happened with the WiiU & 3DS/2DS. I'll be surprised if Nintendo makes a 3rd generation Switch compatible console or keeps the Switch 1 servers alive for the next 10 years!!!

Fully physical games is the only way of OWNERSHIP and not "leased" as long as Nintendo keeps the servers running.

Why is everyone so nonchalant about wasteful disposable tech?

Re: Beat 'Em Up Classic Double Dragon Gets A Modern Revival On Switch This October

RejectedAng3L

See..... this is what I been going on and on about!!!!!

Loved Double Dragon: NEON!!!! Bought it for a 2nd time [PS3 & Switch] digitally, and probably going to buy it a 3rd (physically)for local co-op between 2 systems on Switch 1.... as I'm refusing to buy a Switch 2 at this time!

Really happy this is coming to the OG switch instead of the new one! Because I'm probably going to pre-order this too when I order the other!!!

Thanks for listening Arc System Works!!!! Looks fantastic!!!!

Re: Nintendo's Ability To Ban Switch 2 Consoles Has Landed It In Hot Water

RejectedAng3L

@Slideaway1983 if they allowed us to install the games from the card it wouldn't be a problem! All a switch game card is, is a storage medium. There aren't any other special chips to make the game run more efficiently....nor else Gamefreak would've used them in Pokémon Violet for it to run better on the Switch 1!

I'm just done with Nintendo's crap.... not buying a switch 2... as I surely refuse to pay $80 for any game!

If Hollywood can sell movies for lass than $50 and musicians can sell records and CDs for less than $40.... the game industry is capable of it too!!!

Re: Nintendo's Ability To Ban Switch 2 Consoles Has Landed It In Hot Water

RejectedAng3L

@NFrealinkling it would be different if it were a piracy situation but, many of the folks with bricked consoles were trying to play their own games from a MigSwitch card.

Some of us travel for a living, and take a portable console along for the portability. Sometimes things get lost, stolen or destroyed for what ever reason. I'd rather loose only a piece of $300 hardware and an $80 MigSwitch with an $80 microSD card VS loosing $800 [ thats only 10-12 retail games ] in games along with the console too!!!

I totally disagree with your sentiment as those MigSwitch cards can store YOUR ACTUAL PURCHASED commercial games with all the security files the Switch generates upon loading a game card. Sure folks can play pirated downloads but, thats not the norm of the people getting their consoles banned from NSO.

However, Nintendo will still let you download console updates with that dreaded error code.... just no access to games you purchased already and none of the NSO emulators. It's hogwash!!! The services have been paid for, the games have been purchased, the files being played are legit.... but still ban a console for leaving the actual game cards at home?

You do realize the Switch game cards are JUST a storage medium, no different than a MicroSD card! There are no other special chips inside those cards.....bunless you bought a Key Card game, then it has even less!

Re: 97 Games You Should Pick Up In Nintendo's Switch eShop Summer Sale (North America)

RejectedAng3L

@Anachronism I just got this card for less than $80.... write speeds could be faster, but it's not going to slow a switch 1 down too much. I still have nearly 800gb left over and have few than 20 games I'm still working on getting downloaded from my account as I don't have full time internet where I live.... I can only download so much at a time from family and friends wifi and Hotspot cellular connection.

Anyway..... the card works great & it had pretty decent reviews on it too.

Re: Metroid Prime Dev's Cancelled 3D Platformer 'Harmony' Streamed Online For More Than Four Hours

RejectedAng3L

@N00BiSH absolutely I do been playing them since the 1st one dropped on the NES in 1986 or so and own practically all on them since. I'm just saying that there is plenty of room for more and maybe, I dunno even redoing Return of Samus wouldn't be a bad idea. Especially since the Nintendo ninja lawyers shut down the fan made one. There's obviously interest in it!

Also.... I'd hate to see how long it'll be until we get a so called "Metroid Prime 5"...... we already been 'waiting nearly 20 years for the one we ain't got yet'

Re: 97 Games You Should Pick Up In Nintendo's Switch eShop Summer Sale (North America)

RejectedAng3L

@DaftSkunk I wouldn't totally agree with that. For the time it was one of the largest (by time and navigation), was one of THE largest and fully fleshed out Gameboy games theh ever released. Sure it's not 100hrs long, but there is enough charm there to keep you busy. The remake (I bought physically) looks great and plays well.... but I got it when I was deep onset in to Zelda: BotW and haven't gotten back to it again, yet.

Re: Shinobi: Art Of Vengeance Shows Off Gorgeous Hand-Drawn Action And Environments

RejectedAng3L

Oh I can't wait to run through this!!!!

Always been a fan of the games and art styles of them. And it's been long over due for Shinobi and us getting a new title!

But I'm still a miss as to why Sega/Sega Ages took down all the other Shinobi titles Because they were working this out.

Sega Ages Shinobi [Arcade Port] - GONE
Genesis Collection - Gone

Luckily I got the ladder before NSO had the Genesis on there..... totally passed me off I spent $20 on a set of games that ultimately Nintendo gives away with Subscriptions now.... as most of that collection is now on NSO

Re: Metroid Prime Dev's Cancelled 3D Platformer 'Harmony' Streamed Online For More Than Four Hours

RejectedAng3L

@N00BiSH of course I do... I have played every one of these games starting with the NES as they have came out.

I was referring to the fact that the games even on the DS & 3DS were 3d.... everything home wise GameCube onwards was all 3d.... until Dred.

Since ZERO Mission came out on the GBA.... they haven't done a 2d Metroid SINCE is more what I meant.

Not that any of them are particularly bad... they are all great games!!! I just wish we had more of then and a few more NEW 2d ones to play.... or a remake of Samus Returns would be nice and modern!!! Since Nintendo killed the fan game

Re: Nintendo Asks Wii U Owners To Refrain From Using "Unauthorised" Online Services

RejectedAng3L

#Nintentdo the problem with what your saying is that you don't support online play, eshop, or even supply / store peoples games any longer for those systems.

There isn't any reason that the WiiShop or the DS/3ds eshops couldn't be open today. .... for God sake there are people still turning in late homework in ways of NES/Famicom games on CARTRIDGES 40 years after support ended!!

If there wasn't a market for it, then people wouldn't be doing it!

You have left us/them no choice!!

You gave us consoles you charged us for, let us spend our money on games you took away for hardware that still had plenty of life in it!!!

It was your marketing department that messed everything up with the gimmicks and now your upset because people still want to use the objects you charged them money for and told them they couldn't use them again?

Pish!! Good luck trying to win that argument with anyone that claims ownership to your self made obsolescence e-waste!!!

Re: Feature: How Can Switch 2 'Fix' The eShop? Devs Share Their Storefront Stories

RejectedAng3L

Amazingly the easiest way of eshop navigation is better on web browser than it is on the console its made for!

Makes absolutely NO SENSE to me....

I find it's often easier to be able to favorite games I'm interested in as they come put and then await a sale or go through my list to buy it.

Far easier tactic than wading through the sales pages on the eshop from the console end.

Past that.... another way I make sense of it all... is to look up or learn about games from reviews and just look said title or dev up directly.

There needs to be better filters.... period

Re: Japanese Charts: What Successor? Switch Hardware Sales Top 100,000

RejectedAng3L

@SillyG the OLED XL..... awesome! Seems the Switch² will be just that.... as for the switch micro? Uhmmm, isn't that what the Switch lite is? Ever try to play a text heavy ported RPG there? Even with the junky magnify feature of the double home key press makes it cumbersome.

We don't need a smaller Switch in any capacity.... use an emulator on your phone for that.... oh yeah, that's probably still larger than the switch life's screen

Re: Nintendo Switch Online's NES And Genesis Apps Get Updated To Fancy New NPLN Servers

RejectedAng3L

@Don in many ways they do. In more ways they don't. But the fact you can get an $80 handheld that's capable of playing everything up to 5th generation, and some beyond that, load it full of roms you own and your off to the races. Many of those actually have far superior online connectivity and options on graphical display.

NSO is so dad's in the burbs can show their kids what the 1990 xmas games were, fumble around a few runs and let Timmy download tracks for Mario Kart and little Susie her Animal Crossing dlc. The bonus of the games were completely a bonus/afterthought well after the Switch came out.

Just be happy Nintendo is 'nice' enough to let us have what we do. They don't really have the reputation of giving much away and a few dollars a month isn't too much to ask for what we get.... and the getting becomes more every now and again.

It would be nice to see some deeper cuts and more obscure titles for all the consoles though, I have to admit.
