Re: There's No 'Concrete Answer' for GameCube on the Switch Virtual Console, But There's Hope

RedeadLink

Wait, wait, wait... the triggers are still digital? WTF Nintendo, it's 2017, it costs a couple extra pence to implement and makes porting over to Switch so much easier for devs (while Project Cars for Wii U was still a thing they mentioned having to use the second analogue stick as a replacement).
It's kinda funny how they add HD Rumble and an IR Sensor but can't chip in for some proper triggers...

Re: The Xbox One Now Has A Nintendo 64 Emulator

People seem to forget that Nintendo aren't the only ones who made games on the N64, many other publishers did as well. Either way to the people who say "just get a Nintendo console to play Nintendo games" I have to tell you, not many people want to get an 20 year old console taking space solely to play some Mario 64 on (not to mention the ridiculous prices these consoles are being sold for along with games).

Nintendo's own solutions are terrible as well as the only way to get N64 games now is on the Wii U virtual console. Not only is the entire thing dead with the occasional release every blue moon, there is also the fact that a Wii U costs just as much as an Xbox One S and PS4slim. I doubt anyone in their right mind would buy a console as weak as a Wii U for the same price as its competitors just so they can play a small selection of overpriced N64 games and 3 decent Nintendo exclusives(MK8, Smash and ZeldaBotW)

Re: Feature: An Insider's Look At The End Of An Era At Official Nintendo Magazine

Oh the feels, I still have all of mine on the shelf behind me. The magazine was really fun to read even if it did feel like they were just throwing random ideas around but that was part of the charm. They also knew how to get me buying their magazine, they had a picture of a Wii U on the spine that got built up every issue, with me buying a bunch of back issues just so I could look at it in peace. Turns out my efforts were for naught as the magazine ended before they finished the image
Well at the very least they changed my subscription to GamesMaster which I see as a very good alternative, not to mention it helped me expand my gaming beyond Nintendo.

Re: Trademark Listing Adds Fuel to Talk of Nintendo NX Using Cartridges

@ThanosReXXX Ever heard of a thing called future proofing? Games are getting much much bigger as time goes on and for Nintendo to actually keep up they need to look ahead. True current games reach about 70gb at max but Nintendo shouldn't be competing with those consoles since the next ones will be packing in 4K textures etc. Even if the NX can't output 4K, file sizes will most likely be the same on each console. Take Assassin's Creed 4 for example which is around 17gb on both the Wii U and PC even though the textures are far superior in the latter. Sure Nintendo could survive on a 64gb cart but they will be severely limiting themselves like they did with the N64.

Re: Digital Foundry Assesses the Technology and Framerate in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Urgg, 720p? Had a feeling that the game was going to be set at that resolution but it's still a shame. The unstable framerate is also really annoying and while I don't mind having a game set at 30fps I do really hate dips that go more that 10fps below the average, I'll live but only just. Here's to hoping that the NX will be powerful enough to run the game at 1080p @ 30fps with nice textures.
I also find it funny that when Watch Dogs game out on Wii U people were nagging about how it was at 720p and had dips down to the 20s yet when Zelda does it it's fine.

Re: Talking Point: Where Does The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Fit Into the Zelda Timeline?

RedeadLink

I still firmly believe that it is the same Link from Skyward Sword. Unless this isn't Link at all hence the lack of Hero's tunic. Either way, they wouldn't have made Link right handed, there has to be an explanation.
[WIND WAKER SPOILERS]
I don't really find the Wind Waker theory plausible as the Master Sword was left in Ganondorf's skull, wouldn't make sense to see the dirty sword in the pedestal.
