We are all gatekeepers of art on this glorious day! Let’s fill the feed with sardonic “who?” Instead of supporting artists who appeal to people with different tastes.
But seriously, why do people get so tribal over video games, music, sports, etc. Let people like what they like.
It’s sad how Level-5 decided to leave foreign markets. Basically leaving it to other companies to publish and localize their games after having some pretty great games. They pushed Yokai Watch so hard that they must have put all their eggs in one basket and when that failed to reach Pokémon levels they backed off and went Japan only. Maybe Nintendo should buy them to pick up some gems of IPs like Dark Cloud or Layton.
How is Splatoon 3 “innovating” over 1 and 2? I’m not seeing anything truly evolutionary there. That’s why I feel this isn’t a consistent stance to have on f-zero. I would love a mode where you upgrade your car- a story mode where an unknown racer takes on the guise of Captain Falcon after he’s gone missing- or some other trope…
I wish folks could do like Jack White did for music by starting up his own record manufacturing plant. Like, if Limited Run could have a plant that does these limited runs themselves of all the formats- it could be more agile in turning around these small batch orders. And maybe even help MORE smaller companies get products out physically.
The developers webpage is also a nostalgia crap-show, and I mean that in the nicest way possible. It really drives home 90s era aesthetic with all the geocities touches, and the page counter. 👨🍳💋
As a parent who doesn’t have a lot of time for personal gaming I’m excited to get this. As I slowly play through some games on the switch, mostly indie Eshop games, I really miss achievements. There is no way for me to look at a list of achievements to see which games I played to the end. I like the idea that I will be able to have a portable pc to play my steam games (which have gone neglected for years) so I can earn achievements and track my progress. Especially if life gets busy and I put a game down for a bit I can be reminded I already beat that one and play something else.
If it helps finally release the oft fan requested “tossed salad and scrambled eggs” emote, I will March into my kids’ room and throw my credit card at them and bellow, “buy all the vbucks necessary for the Frasier loot.” At this point they’ll finally know what I’m talking about because all the YouTubers they follow have been showing Frasier clips all week in preparation for the imminent collab. #whatdaddreamsaremadeof
I would love a “Witcher” style game where she takes on bounties across the universe. Which eventually culminates in an overarching storyline. But then you can have more bounties as time goes on.
I’ve got myself, my brother, my wife, my two kids and the grandparents all on the family plan rocking their own animal crossing. Instead of paying 24.99 each- easy, we just get it through NSO. Good deal for families.
I’m a big fan of Metroid and metroidvanias and have really enjoyed what they’ve done with this game. MercurySteam really took it and added some new elements to it- which really adds to it. Granted- their post game credit policy is junk- but this is an industry wide issue that needs to be standardized.
Anyway, as an old I was able to show my kids that their old man still has it- and after 5 attempts at Kraid (I know, my response time is low) they seemed mildly impressed. As impressed as 13 year old sons will allow themselves to be.
@clod ugh, I’m totally gonna be that guy. But you are describing Good Omens, the Amazon Prime adaptation of the Pratchet/Gaiman book. I can’t tell if this was some elegant trolling on your part or head-strong obstinance at using information tools at your fingertips.
Anyway, I always look forward to more family oriented fare to watch with my kids. So this could be fun. But given Netflix’s track record with anime adaptation into live action- I’m a tad worried.
@Gabaz09 you think your kids are going to happen upon this game and accidentally buy it and then what? Become a furry, and then you’ll have to shun them? I guess this is a valid response. Afterall, I don’t let my kids play with Lego. Even though they’ve never expressed an interest in becoming the most reviled of professions, architect, I can’t be too safe.
Anyway, glad anyone who’s interested gets to enjoy the game!
@the4seer now you’ve made me want Brie Larson to officially declare Mario-anniversary over on the 31st whereas Nintendolife writes two articles, one about Brie Larson talking about the 31st and then another article talking about the 31st and mentioning Brie Larson’s tweet.
What is the issue? Skip the article or don’t. The effort people put into commenting on how annoyed by all of this is absurd. If one person benefits from an article, why not? Or are folks upset because the value of their subscription to this site is being diminished by this article taking up one of the daily promised 8 articles a day for their $9.99 a month? Oh, wait...
The developers took a scarecrow, a thing typically found on a farm and transported him to a land- let’s just call it DK Isle, to fight tropical monsters and collect corn cobs?
How many times does someone have to explain that articles fluke this are helpful to a site like Nintendolife in the long run? Articles like this gets scooped up by the Google algorithm and pops in searches for Brie Larson and some folks who might like Brie might come over to this site and stick around. More clicks, more money, more content. Would you all complaining prefer a subscription service? I doubt it. Just ignore the article and as others have stated get over yourselves.
Like I shared on the other post I got it this weekend and had a blast playing it with my four year old, heck, my twelve year old plays it with her too. Building different levels, bopping things, it’s very Nintendo. Everyone’s complaining, and I get it, I’d love to have little Mario collectibles gathering dust next to my Lego Voltron. But it seems I wasn’t the targeted demographic. Children are the demo, and I’m glad it’s a pretty imaginative experience for them.

It’s like the Oregon Trail- the original adventure rogue-like. Your team dies, rinse, repeat. Loved that game and enjoyed my time with this on PC. Will probably double dip.

@k8sMum that would actually be kind of cool. The fruit you get with the set is blind bag so you don’t know which fruit you get. Like in the real game.
