Re: New Star Fox Missions Are Being Added To Starlink: Battle For Atlas This April

Pojos98

I was always really suspicious of the rumored Grand Prix game. When I saw the ‘F Zero-like’ ships of Starlink I started to wonder if the rumor got started by someone confusing this for what it looked like, an F Zero / Starfox crossover. Add to that the fact that there are some lore and aesthetic overlaps between those IPs and it was just too easy to get wrong. I’m a little disappointed but glad that at least there is still a Retro project we haven’t heard about... hopefully. DK3 makes sense since that series sells well.

Just picked this up one year after release. It’s amazing how completely forgotten this game is online now. I have to think it sold next to nothing, which is sad because it is incredible. I saw a review of Horizon Chase Turbo and vaguely remembered this game. I literally thought it wasn’t even out yet and was coming to the Switch. As big as the 3ds’ install base is, this is why you have to jump on the new hardware ASAP. Otherwise you get lost in the hype, no matter if your game is good or not. Here’s to hoping this gets onto Switch earlier rather than later. This dev team deserves some credit... and sales.

@KingdomHeartsFan that’s why I honestly appreciate it when games find a way to get you out of that mindset. Eventide Island in BOTW is the best example I can think of. The game just takes everything away and makes you use your wits. I haven’t played enough Pokémon generations to know if they ever do that but I think it’d be worth Gamefreak’s time to look into... even if more ‘serious ‘ players might complain.

@KingdomHeartsFan I 100% agree. I fell into that trap years ago. I think it’s why I stopped playing Pokémon after gen 3. I’m feeling the same way trying to play through my first Fire Emblem game too... just want all my stats to be highest and grind as much as possible. Let’s Go has really gotten me excited about Pokémon again though cause I can ignore it. When you first pick up Pokémon, people tend to just raise one Pokémon to the max and jump into gym battles before they’re ready. That’s not a ‘smart’ or ‘informed’ way to play, but honestly my best memories in Pokémon games is the times I’ve just squeaked out a win playing with Pokémon I thought looked cool or caught in a memorable way. I suggest trying to find your way back to playing that way. Just jump into it. Go into battles you think you might lose even, and don’t worry about optimizing every stat. There’s a place for all that, but in a first time playthrough of the story mode, I say just go for it and have fun... or else you’ll end up like me skipping everything from diamond and pearl on...

I need to just ignore this stuff tbh. I always get too obsessive about wanting the best Pokémon or team. The way I fell in love with this series was by just feeling connected to the Pokémon I caught at certain points in my journey, like finding that ONE Onix In Mt. Moon or grinding to buy a Dratini. I have nothing against optimizing a team for competitive play but, cheesy as it sounds, the emotional connection is why people love Pokémon.

@Kilroy I think that’s the part of fusion that people actually didn’t like. It didn’t open people up to Samus being vulnerable. If anything it should have shown Nintendo to NOT push that angle any further. Problem is it came out in really what was still the early days of games coverage online. I think these days Fusion might have gotten a more negative reaction. Back then people were just glad to have any Metroid period, esp 2D

Re: Guide: The Best Metroid Games - Every Metroid Game Ranked

@MaSSiVeRiCaN I totally agree. The issue is that Metroidvania type games really excel at making the player feel like a 'badass' so for all this time, people just assumed that Samus was a badass like Master Chief. By the time Other M rolled around people weren't open to the idea that Samus could be vulnerable. I personally didn't like the way they executed it, but i respect the idea that they could even try that with her character.

@NickOfTime90 I really liked Federation Force. I understand people don’t like it as a Metroid, but people’s need to suck the enjoyment other people have out of something is annoying to me. I honestly wish we could have gotten a sequel (which we won’t). Games like Dillons Rolling Westen or Style Savy or Steel Diver get safely ignored cause they don’t have a big name attached to them but they are still fun for a lot of people. It’s sad to me that Federation Force... a totally decent and fun FPS on a system with like zero good FPSs... won’t get sequels like those other franchises because of people being [removed].

I got this on day one. I was a huge Steeldiver: Sub Wars fan, but this one just isn't as good. One of the few times Nintendo has ever let me down to be honest. Too many levels about shooting a ball from one area of the map to another is my Blast Ball nightmare come true (though I liked Federation Force). Hopefully we'll see a proper follow up to Sub Wars on another platform... someday

Re: Talking Point: The Nintendo Switch May Divide Opinion, But It's Made a Splash

Also, anyone thought that the portability factor might spawn 'Switch Clubs'? I think that just like Pokemon Go, the reality of this trailer might turn out to be greater than the marketing. The training sequence at the end showing E-Sports teams coordinating is something that could actually happen and catch on in the real world and totally fits with Nintendo's broader agenda to bring people together locally. Right now E-Sports is limited by a few super talented individuals who develop independently online, the Switch opens up the possibility of making E-Sports into a truly social thing.

The Switch could very well have dual screen support after all. I frankly wouldn't be surprised. If download play is possible (which is what we might have been seeing at the basketball game) there is no reason that the swich shouldn't be able to be used basically the same way as a Wii U, just streaming to the TV while still holding the touch screen. Why didn't they show this? well for the same reason that the didn't show a lot of other features... they are trying to avoid confusion. They have a very specific way that they want people to see this, not as a handheld you can play on your TV, not as some crippled tablet, not as just another entry in the Wii or DS brand. There will be more to come, i'm a believer

@BulbasaurusRex 5.9 really wasn't a fair score from IGN. Most of their criticisms focused on this as a single player game. I've got to say that even using the anonymity of the online play and limited chat commands, I had a ton of fun finishing this title up this weekend with a competent squad. 7-8 is really a lot more accurate. I'd say jump in soon while the servers are still active and before you have the ending spoiled.
