Re: Poll: What's The Best Paper Mario Game?

PaperLucario

Personal Ranking/Score
#1 / 9 - TTYD: The only thing keeping it from being a 10 is the Backtracking that plagues alot of Chapters in Minor to Extreme ways. Other than that, Improves on everything 64 was. Speaking of...
#2 / 8 - 64: Its rougher in some places due to its age (which TTYD refined), but as the First Game it still holds up very well. Only place I actively dislike is Shy Guy's Toy Box for the Backtracking.
#3 / 7 - Super: Best Story of the Series, but the Gameplay, while fun in its own right, is rather Shallow and underutilized.
#4 / 6 - Origami King: No Joke if the Ring Combat wasnt Tedious Frustration, and the Story tweaked just a bit (primarily giving Olly more screentime), It wouldve been a 7.
#5 / 3 - Sticker Star: We know why its this low, starting just about every problem the Modern games suffer from.
#6 / 2 - Color Splash: It improved on some areas of Sticker Star, but the Combat alone makes it the worst game, adding Tedious Gamepad steps on top of the Consumable Attacks.

Paper Jam isnt rated because it is not a Paper Mario game, its a Mario & Luigi game with Paper Mario as a Guest. It would not be fair to Paper Jam.

Re: The Legendary Super Saiyan Broly (DBS) Joins Dragon Ball FighterZ Next Month

PaperLucario

@PBandSmelly It's a long story but I'll try to keep it brief, it all started when Broly's English Voice Actor (Vic Mignonga) was accused of harrassment from multiple parties (although none formally brought to authorities), which resulted in his immediate termination from Funimation and other working parties, back in February shortly after the release of the Broly film.

He has since taken key players in his termination, and the company as a whole to court for a variety of claims, it was between then and now was when things such as those leaked audio clips emerged. It's overall been a very hot topic issue (one I've had to take breaks from with how toxic and drama fueled it gets) and one that will likely continue for a foreseeable future. If you ever feel interested there is definitely lots of coverage of the many things that have occurred between then and now.

To me the big consequence of this whole event is easily the damage done all around in regards to Funimation. Vic Mignonga (Broly) having his name and longtime career smeared by sole accusations, while People & Actors on the accusing side have shown rather bitter and nasty sides of themselves on social media in direct relation to this issue. (Not insinuating neither is perfect or abhorrent, both sides have their quirks & problems)

I've not been a fan of the company in various aspects, but now its hard to ever want to show any sort of support to both the company's products nor some of its notable faces. And with things like Broly's English Voice in works going forward or even Guest Appearances at conventions this year and forthcoming, the impact of this whole debacle is one that can be felt by even those unaware.

Hoping that conveys the situation with as minimal bias as possible, though again there is lots of information available surrounding this issue from various sources.

Re: The Legendary Super Saiyan Broly (DBS) Joins Dragon Ball FighterZ Next Month

Im greatly interested but more for what theyre doing for his English voice, something which they have been keeping suspiciously under wraps (Something we have only seen with this character, not having a English trailer to release alongside the Japanese one). You can almost tell that they're afraid to show what they ended up doing. With this in mind, I cant wait to see the inevitable backlash considering everything in That situation over the course of this whole year.

Re: Mario Kart Tour Celebrates The Festive Season In Its Latest Update

PaperLucario

Would really prefer some variety in Special Characters....

Instead we get the 3rd Special Mario (outside of the normal, baby, and metal Marios available normally, 6 Total Marios), the 6th Peach, and a 3rd Shy Guy (a plain recolor compared to the Chef Guy this previous tour) in the short span of the couple months the games been out.

You would've sold me on a Santa Bowser.

Re: Billy Mitchell Threatens To Take Legal Action Against High-Score Sanctioning Bodies

PaperLucario

Maybe I just dont understand something, but I'd much rather be known/remembered for more/bigger/better things than just being good at a couple of videogames (in a now ocean of titles).

This sentiment of mine is always why Im not keen on e-sports and the idea of careers around them (not to knock those in it) so there might be a bias, but this a way more extreme form given the ever shrinking interest in such a scene like arcade high scores. If not the generations after the 90s, then definitely the generations now and going forward dont nor wont care, where games have more goals & incentive than points.

But whatever, if its really this tremendous a matter to Mitchell than fight the fight I guess.

Re: Random: Japanese Fans Decide Isabelle Would Be The Best Nintendo Sightseeing Guide

PaperLucario

Most have gone over why Link wouldn't be a good one, But I feel the same for Kirby and Anna.
Aside from also not having a vocabulary, Kirby would just get distracted often like the child he is. Meanwhile Anna would try to swindle everyone out of more money (merchandise, tour expansions, etc.)

Isabelle's a perfect choice, though if I had to suggest another I'd totally travel with Professor Oak as a guide. Or Dex-ter if you converted him into a phone app.

Re: NetherRealm's Brutal Response To Fans Who Want Shaggy In Mortal Kombat 11

PaperLucario

@SilverEdge92 While Shaggy was a meme subject prior, this current trend really exploded fresh off the hype surrounding the reveal of Goku's latest form in Dragon Ball Super; Ultra Instinct (Basically, a state of having flawless, split-second, Reaction skills). That is when Meme versions of Ultra Instinct began making their rounds online.

And from there, the meme of Shaggy's "True Power" kicked off.

Re: Review: Splatoon (Wii U)

PaperLucario

So many people in the comments labeling Splatoon as a half-baked game for having a short campaign despite being an Online Multiplayer focused title from announcement and few maps at launch. Splatoon is nothing like actual half-baked games such as Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, Assassin's Creed Unity, & Halo The Master Chief Collection (The latters multiplayer to this day is still suffering connection problems that an official tournament was canceled last month), that released in near unplayable states, game breaking bugs, or poor frame-rate, and all the post launch updates were just for the sake of correcting the mistakes they should've delayed the game for a few months to fix rather than releasing it holiday season.

Now I agree having some of the modes and maps unavailable at launch until august is a bummer, but I don't think its that bad for the early adopter (in fact, one could consider Splatoon to be like Steam's Early Access games). One way you could take the free post updates adding the maps/modes is to ensure the core game works day 1 (which is surely the case with the review). While another could be the updates as an extra incentive to keep playing weeks after the game's launch if you were really enjoying the game already based on the demo. Of course you're free to think what you want, at the very least you're not paying for them like some season pass.

Splatoon is an Online Multiplayer game at heart, with that in mind it sure isn't half-baked, it's completely playable at launch, however with the small map and mode count with more coming in updates though, Splatoon is more of an Early Access game. It has everything needed to play the basic game, with the devs being able to devote time into the other maps and modes to add in to ensure they work when they drop. If you're turned off by the content amount of maps and modes now (fair enough if you weren't loving the demo), then all I could say is wait till August for the major update (whether it makes the game complete or not). If your uninterested in the multiplayer, then feel free to pass, as I doubt the single player will get much in the updates barring amiibo, but the single player is not what Nintendo's trying to sell with Splatoon.

Re: Nintendo Download: 29th January (Europe)

PaperLucario

What I'm now interested in is the file size of Trilogy, Galxay 2 was less than 2GB, while Punch-Out was a higher than expected 4.5GB, given the large file sizes of the two DKC games for download (For the systems they're on, 2GB for Return 3D and 11GB for Tropical Freeze are huge), i dread the thought of the combined size of 3, very packed games.

Re: Masahiro Sakurai Explains Why Mewtwo Isn't Paid DLC in Smash Bros.

PaperLucario

The two games are already filthy rich in content, it certainly doesn't need to have DLC, unlike the vast majority of games these days. It didn't need to have Mewtwo at all, but we're getting it, as (As Sakarai putted it) if it's like an additional dessert like the clone characters to a full course meal, and for that, it's greatly appreciated.

Re: Ike Joins the Battle in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS

PaperLucario

Glad to see Ike returning, but with him returning, I kind of not want Chrom to be playable, as that would just be 3 blue haired swordsman on the roster (from the same series mind you). With that in mind if we do get a Fire Emblem newcomer I'd like them to branch out a little, and if the Pseudo-Palutena trophy in the direct is a way of nudging Palutena to be playable, then maybe the Tiki trophy maybe a nudge to ....
