Im greatly interested but more for what theyre doing for his English voice, something which they have been keeping suspiciously under wraps (Something we have only seen with this character, not having a English trailer to release alongside the Japanese one). You can almost tell that they're afraid to show what they ended up doing. With this in mind, I cant wait to see the inevitable backlash considering everything in That situation over the course of this whole year.
@PBandSmelly It's a long story but I'll try to keep it brief, it all started when Broly's English Voice Actor (Vic Mignonga) was accused of harrassment from multiple parties (although none formally brought to authorities), which resulted in his immediate termination from Funimation and other working parties, back in February shortly after the release of the Broly film.
He has since taken key players in his termination, and the company as a whole to court for a variety of claims, it was between then and now was when things such as those leaked audio clips emerged. It's overall been a very hot topic issue (one I've had to take breaks from with how toxic and drama fueled it gets) and one that will likely continue for a foreseeable future. If you ever feel interested there is definitely lots of coverage of the many things that have occurred between then and now.
To me the big consequence of this whole event is easily the damage done all around in regards to Funimation. Vic Mignonga (Broly) having his name and longtime career smeared by sole accusations, while People & Actors on the accusing side have shown rather bitter and nasty sides of themselves on social media in direct relation to this issue. (Not insinuating neither is perfect or abhorrent, both sides have their quirks & problems)
I've not been a fan of the company in various aspects, but now its hard to ever want to show any sort of support to both the company's products nor some of its notable faces. And with things like Broly's English Voice in works going forward or even Guest Appearances at conventions this year and forthcoming, the impact of this whole debacle is one that can be felt by even those unaware.
Hoping that conveys the situation with as minimal bias as possible, though again there is lots of information available surrounding this issue from various sources.
@PaperLucario Ah, quit beating around the damn bush. I personally don't give a hoot if Vic Mignogna is doing Broly's voice in this game or not, I'm excited for a new character to play. Personally, I see a whole lot of detailed stories correlating quite well. I've seen this happen in my personal life, with personal friends of mine, involving men in large social scenes. He's no Bill Cosby, but he's still a jackass who should learn a lesson. I'd be more open to seeing someone like Vic making a comeback after a few years of humbling self-work, but I really don't have much sympathy for him whatsoever. I've met other men with the attitude that all women have some universal primal urgency to be grabbed and forced into a romantic/sexual situation. "Thrown against the wall" as that guy I met put it.
@PaperLucario OK, sorry, I was slow in making my comment. You are not beating around the bush with your second comment lol. I see our opinions maybe differ, so I'll just leave it at making my point known . I hope you have a good day or night, cheers.
@PaperLucario I was just thinking the exact same thing as you are, i am very curious to what his voice will sound like as well.
So glad I bought this game. Loving the single player so far. I've never watched the cartoon but I always enjoyed the fighting games.
I can't BELIEVE they'd invite Broly.
He's pure toxic masculinity. Plus, he destroyed, like, a quarter of the galaxy. That is NOT okay.
@PaperLucario It's pretty crazy too since there were apparently accusations for some time yet Funimation only felt compelled to do something once other actors were allegedly affected. Kinda like how Todd Haberkorn still has a job when he's been accused of worse. Not that Vic Mignogna and his lawyer weren't still acting wildly inappropriate too. That lawsuit would've ended in Funimation's favor faster if people involved didn't keep going on Twitter to air their dirty laundry mid-suit though.
Might buy the game once they finally release a full collection with all dlcs in the pack. 50 dollars and I buy it.
@Pod Not this Broly. This Broly hasnt destroyed a section of the galaxy, or the planet for that matter. All his father wanted was just Vegeta dead.
A lot of people may hate a second Broly getting in, but honestly im glad Broly got in alongside Gogeta. Im still hoping for a 3rd fighter pass with the likes of Roshi and a Future Trunks/Mai teamup
@patbacknitro18
Oh yeah. I guess he's just... really really angry then. Which is also, you know, extremely problematic!
Nooooo, he's too powerful! He's over 9,000!
@Pod not so much angry, just very mentally ill.
@PaperLucario Not sure about "the foreseeable future" part... all his claims were dismissed and he was ordered to pay the legal fees of everyone he tried to bring to court.
@PBandSmelly Holy cow! Haha. I actually only watched till Freeza or whatever his name was. There were soo many damn fillers that it turned me off from wanting to watch it anymore.
@Xylnox If you wanna try getting back into the series I suggest watching DragonballZ: Kai. It completely cuts out the filler from the original series, plus it remastered the audio.
@NIN10DOXD @arekdougy @PaperLucario i don't think we will ever know what really went on behind the scenes but as far as i'm aware Vic did a counter claim and it got thrown out of court so to me that says he did do something (he even said so himself at one point, apologising for his behavior and you don't do that if you never did anything) and as for those so called "leaks" those were at least 8 years old, had been leaked before and ALL the people involved had already been disciplined by both funimation AND Toei, plus it was a private recording of a fanfic, should they have done it, no of course not but it wasn't done maliciously and it was Sony (funimation's parent company) who decided to end the contract with Vic not funimation themselves
as for the voice i wouldn't be surprised if they just used archive recordings from the Broly movie, XenoVerse 2 and other games as well, they have enough of them after all and it wouldn't be the first time they did it just look at Ultimate Tenkaichi back on the PS3/360, there was a lot of reused sounds in that, in fact you can even hear the characters such as Gohan and Frieza switch between their old DBZ voices and their Z Kai voices
but in the end neither side covered themselves with glory in this one, it was a huge public mess not only because of their behavior but also because of the behavior of the "fans", for example threatening Monica Rial with rape and physical assault because she accused him was a terrible thing for people to do, is it no wonder she flew off the deep end?
@FullbringIchigo These are my exact thoughts honestly.
@FullbringIchigo Well put.
