@gatorboi352 So, do you honestly believe nobody wants a very well regarded platformer, or are you forced to believe nobody will buy Switch games because you've doubled down on your prediction that nobody will buy the Switch?
@bignrules I'm going to go ahead and say that I'm pretty sure you're a white racist who doesn't understand that some of us in fact do know what the word means.
@OptometristLime Of course I don't accept his apology; I've learned enough to recognize insincerity when I see it. He has not learned from his mistakes, he won't learn from them, and casual racism remains a fundamental part of his personality. There is nothing hypocritical about recognizing that and rejecting it.
@OptometristLime I wouldn't describe immediately reacting to racism by rejecting it as "knee-jerk". I'd describe it as having developed proper sensibilities.
@OptometristLime The hate isn't because he's successful. It's because of how casually he makes racist and sexist jokes. Not disliking him is the sign of immaturity.
@Agramonte Artistry isn't a problem, either for games or for film. Believing that artistry and entertainment are mutually exclusive, on the other hand, is a problem.
@gatorboi352 If you see that Nintendo has an online reputation of some sort, I'm betting it's because you've chosen to occupy an echo chamber in which Nintendo is the bad guy, not because the average person gives a [removed].
@yuwarite @GrailUK The reason @gatorboi352 is on this site is because he's the epitome of the phrase "the zeal of the newly converted". He used to be a Nintendo-only gamer, but now that he has expanded his horizons he believes that he has seen the light, and not only has to let everyone know, but has to make sure that we know that we haven't seen the light. He's absolutely correct when he says you're missing some great games if the Switch is your only console (let's not let him fool us into allowing him to call it a handheld, because being dismissive is his purpose in doing so), but when he says that three or four Switch games are the only ones worth buying for multiplat owners, he reveals the arrogance required to believe that his tastes are what yours or mine should be.
@rjejr @JaxonH There are large icons for the 12 most recently played/downloaded games, followed by a folderish collection of small icons for every game, 6 per row, also ordered by most recently played/downloaded.
@WiltonRoots No, @therealgamer is probably in high school, because his mom is letting him play on the internet. However old he is his school district appears to be the worst in America; they clearly haven't taught him basic grammar.
@Alto Agreed. I've bought The Longest Five Minutes and Radiant Historia physically, will buy Owlboy, and will download The Fall Unbound. (That sound is my wallet crying.)
@JaxonH Your conspiracy-theory-laden "explanation" makes your claims even more laughable.
I guarantee you that a physical release is a luxury all console developers wish they could afford from the outset, but the reality is that video game development is risky, and an independent studio with limited cash flow has limits to the risks it can take on.
Of course, there's no reason you should believe a word I've said. I've never developed or published a single game, after all. But then again, I'm betting that neither have you. So maybe you should read the explanation given by @imageform before you declare their practices sleazy and preying on the alleged collectible-oriented mindset of gamers.
@zool I honestly don't. You bought the games, you own the games, you can play the games; I can't think of anything about them that can be described as "lost".
@zool Why are your downloaded Wii U games lost? Did Nintendo take your Wii U when you got a Switch? That'd be weird, because they let me keep mine, and all the games downloaded on it. I can play them whenever I want.
I'm double dipping for the first time because Bayonetta 2 is the best action game I've ever played, which means Bayonetta is the best action series I've ever played. So excited for 3.
@JaxonH Nobody dragged you through the ringer, and nobody has forced you to buy a game twice. If you've ever done so it's because you decided it was worth it to you to have a physical case on your shelf with a physical cartridge inside. I get preferring physical, and I get holding off when there's a chance it will happen; but the claim that you've been mistreated is laughable.
@Agramonte I don't know about all Japanese reviews, obviously, but Famitsu gave Atelier L&S a 9/9/9/8, so I'm skeptical that it reviewed poorly, especially if you're fan enough of JPRGs to preorder them.
@Kalmaro Earlier your argument was that you take NL's word, and now your argument is that you shouldn't be expected to take my word. Impressive the way you pick whatever you feel justifies your opinion at the time.
@Kalmaro Again, that's simply not true, and I'm fairly confident that first-hand experience trumps second-hand information, no matter how voluminously acquired.
@Kalmaro If you don't play short games, how would you know how story-focused or gameplay-focused they are? If you don't play short games, how are you able to claim that the examples I gave don't represent the average experience?
@Kalmaro Not true. I have two games for Switch that I finished in one night--Bulb Boy and Pan-Pan--and both featured sufficient gameplay to justify the gaming medium. Simply watching them being played would not yield the same experience.
@Kalmaro I've grown quite fond of the one-day game. There's something nice about being able to experience the entire thing in one sitting, as with a movie or a short story.
@nintendawesome This isn't news. This is baseless clickbait that interferes with what I wish to happen, the development and maturation of legitimate gaming journalism. Working pro bono does not mitigate hampering the industry.
Please hire some actual journalists, NL. Especially for your editors. I'd send you my resume but you'd see that I'm just as unqualified as,well, everyone on your staff, apparently.
I was going to write my own retort, but someone else wrote something far better suited to responding to you, which I quote here in full:
See you can't follow logical arguments. I never implied you should just accept my view. Logic doesn't follow that because I criticize you for declaring yourself right without presenting any argument, that I'm implying you should just blindly believe me. That's a leap of logic that creates a straw man, a logical fallacy, invalid argument, and irrational arguing.
Funny enough, appeal to authority is also a logical fallacy. The reason is just because someone is an authority it doesn't make them infallible.
All you've done since replying is just state that you're right and I'm wrong, and we should just believe you cause your friend wrote a paper. Well it's a load of logical fallacies. People respond to arguments by attacking the person all the time, rather than the argument(for the record your argument has been the person, "I'm right you're wrong just because of who I am) because they themselves are unable to attack the argument.
@Yorumi I never declared myself an authority--but it would be disingenuous to suggest that in the absence of verifiable expertise it is to be assumed that I know nothing, a tactic designed to undermine an opponent in lieu of being able to confront his argument. I do not have a degree in physics, but I know that when you let go of something gravity will cause it to fall. I'm not a doctor, but I can diagnose a broken leg. And I'm not a psychiatrist, but I can tell when someone knows nothing about addiction.
I'm also curious: do you not see either the irony or arrogance of implying that I should accept your view because I haven't proven myself an expert, when you've done nothing of the kind yourself? If you need not believe me you must grant that I need not believe you.
@Yorumi No, I'm not an expert. But my friend of twenty five years, who is both ten years sober and has published in peer reviewed scholarly journals, is. Which gives me enough insight to know when I see a basic lack of understanding.
@Yorumi Your comparison is flawed. No addiction professional would say spending all your free time playing video games is a sign of addiction. It's spending more than your free time that is the sign. Not going to bed; not seeing to hygiene; ignoring work or school responsibilities--these are the signs of addiction. They would be signs of addiction in your professional student. (And your question wasn't very interesting.)
@JaxonH And I won't stop responding to opinions with the exact level of respect they deserve. Also, the guy running to the mods every time he's resisted is the actual bully.
@Aaron09 For what it's worth, Bayonetta 2 is the greatest action game I've ever played. Granted, I don't have the widest background in the genre, but I'm not some noob, either.

Re: Wii U Viking Epic Jotun: Valhalla Edition Is Reborn On Switch
This is definitely worth playing if you missed it on Wii U (or another system). I'd double dip if I didn't still have my Wii U hooked up.

@gatorboi352 Both.

@bignrules Nice. Multiple responses after working yourself up. Well played.
Re: Preview: Getting Funky in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze on Switch
@gatorboi352 The law of supply and demand is independent of the calendar.
Re: Animal Super Squad, The New Game From PewDiePie, Is Headed To Switch
@bignrules I don't need new ways to call you racist. "Racist" suffices.
I look forward to seeing what response you have after working yourself up for a day again.
Re: Animal Super Squad, The New Game From PewDiePie, Is Headed To Switch
@bignrules Well done with the "one of my best friends is black" defense. Also, well done in confirming that my instincts were correct.

I can't tell you how excited I am to have another opportunity to not buy a PewDiePie game.

Re: Super Meat Boy's Day One Switch Sales Almost As High As Its Xbox 360 Debut
@therealgamer 1. "cause" should have an apostrophe to indicate the omitted letters. It should also be capitalized.
2. "switch" should be capitalized as well.
3. It should be "desperate for", not "desperate of".
4. You need a period at the end.
Thus, your comment should read:
'Cause Switch owners are desperate for games.
And this has been today's lesson in grammar for grammar-challenged trolls.
Re: Bayonetta 2 On Switch Will Come With These Changes
Greatest action series there is--of course I'll double dip.
