@TheNewButler If you want to double your storage just buy a second SD card. You can switch between them exactly in the same way you switch between game cartridges, with the caveat that you have to turn the console off. But it takes almost no time at all. It's certainly faster than redownloading games every time you get a bigger card.

@AnnoyingFrenzy Me too. I have every game but the Switch spoiled me into thinking every game should stream to my TV so working through my handheld backlog isn't a very pressing concern. (It doesn't help that my Switch backlog is as large as it is and I will never run out of games even if I ignore every other system I own.)

@Kingketo121 Silly me. I knew the 26th was the rumored date, but when the 25th came and went with no word I assumed it wasn't to be. Hell, this morning the first thing I did was check Nintendo's Twitter to see if they had announced anything, and they hadn't. By the time I had my coffee, finished my morning activities, and got to the Internet the Direct had been announced, aired, and finished. It's as if they wanted to salvage some surprise from a rumor that had been correct.

This is a great game, and since the best way to convince people to play a great game is to tell them who hates it, here goes:

@sheriff Pan-Pan is a charming little game that can easily be finished in one evening that is worth its regular price, already at budget level. At 80% off there's no reason not to buy; it basically just costs some spare change from other purchases.

@konbinilife That plays in to my point. There are plenty of reasons to buy consoles; I have two from this generation, and no PC, gaming or otherwise. But the ability to produce the best graphics isn't one of them. The best in a moderate price range, sure--but I've never seen a Sony or Microsoft fanboy admit that essential caveat.

Dear @diwdiws and all other apologists, like @mr_eman @Ralek85 @graysoncharles and I'm sure there are others, who are claiming that this wasn't a general presentation but was geared towards developers:

Stop. It was meant for a general audience. They announced it on Twitter directly to their followers, which is a general audience. This wasn't something the public simply got wind of and peeked in on; the public was specifically invited. So no claiming we weren't the intended audience; we most literally were.

@TeslaChippie PCs are more capable than consoles, and have been for years. If the Series X happens to launch with a GPU that actually compares favorably, it will still be outclassed not just by the end of its life cycle, or even through the heart of it, but within a year.

@LUIGITORNADO If gamers truly liked power they'd never buy either a PS5 or a Series X, because both are already left behind by average gaming PCs from two years ago, just like their predecessors were when they launched. Well, if they truly liked power and knew what they were doing. I'll allow that there are a bunch of morons out there who claim that they like power and then do something stupid like buy a console. Some of them even brag about it. All they're doing is proclaiming their idiocy to those of us with a clue.

@Mince That's what I mean. In Doom you collect Doomguy dolls; I assume the same will be true in Doom Eternal. I think it would be awesome if in the Switch version of Eternal you collected Isabelles. It would certainly provide Doomguy an interesting motivation for searching levels.

@BenAV I'm keeping my eye on Summer of Mara, but even if it reviews well, I might forego it for the same reason I'm currently foregoing Rune Factory: my sim-gaming time is limited, and there's another sim franchise I'm more interested in with a new game on Friday. I counted four games in the presentation that, assuming they reached the potential suggested, were definite buys; unfortunately with the size of my backlog that doesn't mean a definite play.

Now authorize a Doom mod where Doomguy collects Isabelle dolls, Nintendo.

Always glad when a game uses procedural generation--because that type of game design isn't for me and it lets me keep the game off my wishlist/out of my backlog without FOMO. Can't play every good game, which I hope this is, for the people who might be interested.

@the8thark The fact that you mentioned Digital Foundry three times shows that you don't understand the difference between presentation and technical performance. It probably also means that you don't appreciate the brilliance of game design that accounts for, minimizes, and disguises from the player technical shortcomings in the hardware.

@TAndvig Hate to burst your bubble (no I don't) but the majority of AAA games are crap, too. But someday you'll grow out of the childish and obviously mistaken and misguided belief that AAA games are real and indie games aren't, and when you do I'm sure you're mom will be so proud as she watches you move out of her basement.

But you do not have the right to use your opinion to insult others' work, nor is it a matter of opinion that being unappealing to you means that something is poorly done. There is more sh!t involved in trying to use the right to opinion to justify poor behavior than there was in the production of these games.

@JSDude1 Then you're not looking closely enough at the games. The games might not be for you, but some of them look well done for what they are and what they're trying to do, and don't deserve to be insulted like that.

It's been on my wishlist perennially since the Wii U days. Maybe that means I should finally pull the trigger; maybe it means I never should. I dunno.

@Agramonte So do you incessantly point out the shortcomings of all those other systems you own on fan sites dedicated to them, or just Nintendo systems here? I'm curious what the extent of your tiresomeness is.
