The superb Wii U title Jotun: Valhalla Edition is headed to Switch, according to a listing on the European eShop. The release date for this reheated version is April 27th.
We awarded the Wii U version a whopping 9/10 back in 2016, and had this to say:
From the Icelandic voice over that plays as you read the plight of Thora to the painterly vistas of Norse hell and the trials, tribulations and boss battle in between, it is an artful title that marries slick and simple game play with poignant storytelling in a way few games can. The less you know about it going in the more grandiose the experience will be; yet if you must know something, know that Jotun: Valhalla Edition is definitely worth your time.

This is definitely worth playing if you missed it on Wii U (or another system). I'd double dip if I didn't still have my Wii U hooked up.
Played through this with much delight on its Wii U launch. I'd be tempted to pick it up again for the portability but just so many other games to buy before double-dips. Plus in many respects this is a game that benefits from TV play.
Thora? Hird? ;P
Anyways, i completely forgot about this game on Wii U, might pick it up (like always) if there is a physical version
I never got this on Wii U
Day 1 on switch
Just a warning: The boss on the thumbnail is a a..hole (I have the Wii u version)! But I did beat him, I beat the whole game. Lovely game!
I was hoping to hear about a port soon! I'll buy this Day 1 for sure
I’m sure glad I skipped so many indies during the Wii U era. It’d be nice if people who own these games on Wii U got a slight discount on Switch, much like the Wii to Wii U VC discounts.
I LOVE these sorts of games with one big caveat. I HATE HATE HATE being lost in big adventure epics. I enjoy solving difficult puzzles, tough boss fights, building up my character, immersion in lore, etc. But I cannot stand games where I have to spend hours wandering around uncertain of what I'm supposed to do next.
Does this game give a decent sense of direction to the player? If so, it's a day one purchase for me.
I had forgot about this on wiiu. Might get for switch now
Day One. I love this game!
@Muddy_4_Ever this is the exact thing that made me stop playing it. One of the first things that happens in the game is your character is stuck in an area of foliage blocking his path. All of the beautifully drawn plants are boxing you in. I was stuck there for a long time until I looked up the solution on the internet. You are supposed to hit one of the huge branches and it will retract into the ground. It is not obvious at all that this is what you are supposed to do. After the first boss you are in an area with lots of branching paths and you are supposed to do some specific things but it is not at all obvious what those things are. So I stopped playing. The artwork is PHENOMENAL but like you I cannot deal with unclear objectives. Real life throws me enough of those. Maybe one day these artists will do a straightforward action arcade shmup or platformer or puzzle game or whatever.
Yussss!
This is one I missed on the Wii U. So glad it's coming to the Switch.
@bluesdance
Isn’t discovery/interactions and experimentation the reason WHY video games are enjoyed? Methinks that perhaps you might rethinks this game and give it another go. I understand too much hand holding takes challenge away and too little direction causes confusion, but that’s where you might have experimemted a little bit more. Don’t give up!
Looks promising. I'll keep an eye out for this. Anyone know about where the price will be?
This game is simply awesome. Not for everyone but still awesome. The camera in the game is special (the character look very tiny and the bosses giants). I'm a fan of Nordic/Viking culture and this game was for me. Double dip for sure.
@BradC40 20$ I think.
After seeing 2 days of GOW reviews on YouTube hard to really care about this right now.
@Zach777 I tend to prefer games that make the goal really obvious. Stuff like Rayman, Celeste, Space Dave, Picross, Deemo. But yeah I might dive back in one day. I have nothing but RESPECT for the creators of this game and their craft.
I completed this on Wii U. I liked some of the more unconventional level designs and enjoyed all the giant bosses.
Finished it on PC. Looks nice, but wasn't enjoyable.
I have this in Wii U but haven't got around to playing yet.
I completely missed this on my WiiU and now I’ve preordered it on Switch. Looks like it’d be a really fun game.
This was one of my most anticipated Wii U games back in the day. Loved the art style and premise, but I really didn't like the map (that doesn't show your current location...) which made navigating the levels a chore at times.
